I came here straight after hearing the absolute masterpiece album Lilac in full for the first time! This song got me so emotional. I have never heard a better closing track to an album before. The beauty and atmosphere are unrivaled. IU is the greatest solo artist of all time! Ever since I first got into Korean music back in 2018 she was the first solo artist I fell in love with and she has set a standard that can't be exceeded by anyone. The Queen of Korea! What a challenge IU is giving to all people turning 30. I asked myself, "how do you want to end your 20s?" It's up to me. Though it turns out I'm not successful enough in my chosen career, I am at peace with myself. Not all the time. But atleast for now that's how I feel. And I want to do just as IU did. I felt somehow what IU was trying to say was something about the loneliness, the feelings as if being left alone on her way after the big heavy loss which might have left a void in her heart. The background pattern used to make the screen is a venusian motif, which is of Greek origin, Peloponnese. IU is very similar in that image and on all the impressions I have in this mv. I'm not sure if I like the concept of mv this time but I like her charming spot on her left cheek, which looks like 18c Georgian style love spot.
I'm 35 and let me tell you this: life doesn't care about the number of your age. We all live different lives and reach points at different paces. The fabric of existence will not change around you just because your age reaches a round number.

This is so utterly beautiful and eerie, and clearly rife with symbolism, with that feeling of a fractured fairytale. The hazy, intoxicated, sun-drenched vibe makes it feel like a nostalgia-fueled homage, celebration, and goodbye. It truly feels like a theatrical performance in some ways, a one-woman show, with the audience acknowledged, involved, and loved. In other ways, it's a bow, an ending, an epilogue, not only for her twenties, but for some of those who followed her through her twenties. It feels like an acceptance too; she knows that not everyone who watched over her twenties is going to follow her into the next era - maybe because they're older now, busier, or perhaps she's the one who's changed, grown and can't, won't please the same people she once did. So, for some, this really is the curtain call, the final goodbye for IU in her twenties and those who have been with her till now, even if they stay here. When she goes through the veil, she appears to move on, and she leaves you with the choice to follow. But even if you don't, the lyrics tell you that she will still feel her life was successful if you remember her fondly as she is now. Thematically, this also feels very close to 'eight' - we dance under the orange sun/together with no shadow below us/no separation was meant to be/let’s meet at the memory that was once beautiful/forever young. This could almost be the island of eight. It's a farewell and yet not, because whether you follow her into her thirties or not, she's still going to be here, now, dancing under the orange sun, in this memory, forever young. So perhaps in some ways, it's also a haunting. I love that it's both a bookend for and a contrast with Every End of the Day, her first song of the era; she has the same braid, and she's once again in the presence of someone we don't see, but this time she's inside in the sunshine, rather than outside, so it feels more intimate, like the relationship which started so long ago, has now progressed to this level of intimacy. The pastels and ice-cream of that video are a contrast to the dark silhouettes and alcohol/smoke of this one; she's all grown up now. It's very interesting that all three of her released music videos for the album - Lilac, Coin, and Epilogue - are bookended. They all start and end the same way; Lilac and Coin within the video itself, and Epilogue for the era as a whole. It fits within the overall theme - spring is short but it comes again. It's a cycle, but it's not stagnation; coming back somewhere, coming back to something, is not the same as never having left. It's also so different from how age is usually depicted, as a linearity; if twenties is spring, then, usually, the thirties would be summer or early autumn, but instead through this album, she says that she's gone through the winter of her twenties (eight), and now she's going back to spring, it's really only the beginning.

The goosebumps when she took a bow at the end 👏 as a 10 year old uaena it feels like she's not just ending the album but rather she's also saying goodbye to the experiences of her 20s. And the immense feeling of nostalgic and calmness as she dance and fade away makes me feel assured as a uaena in a way, amidst the hardship and expectation of people in her 20s about her she pull herself up and is now ready to face whatever her future has brought.

I came here straight after hearing the absolute masterpiece album Lilac in full for the first time! This song got me so emotional. I have never heard a better closing track to an album before. The beauty and atmosphere are unrivaled. IU is the greatest solo artist of all time! Ever since I first got into Korean music back in 2018 she was the first solo artist I fell in love with and she has set a standard that can't be exceeded by anyone. The Queen of Korea! What a challenge IU is giving to all people turning 30. I asked myself, "how do you want to end your 20s?" It's up to me. Though it turns out I'm not successful enough in my chosen career, I am at peace with myself. Not all the time. But atleast for now that's how I feel. And I want to do just as IU did. Dance one last time with my past then confidently take a bow.

I felt somehow what IU was trying to say was something about the loneliness, the feelings as if being left alone on her way after the big heavy loss which might have left a void in her heart. The background pattern used to make the screen is a venusian motif, which is of Greek origin, Peloponnese. IU is very similar in that image and on all the impressions I have in this mv. I'm not sure if I like the concept of mv this time but I like her charming spot on her left cheek, which looks like 18c Georgian style love spot.
I'm 35 and let me tell you this: life doesn't care about the number of your age. We all live different lives and reach points at different paces. The fabric of existence will not change around you just because your age reaches a round number.

The most aesthetic song. Sentimental, evocative. This and 'The Visitor' is so my style, but they're the least streamed.
This is so utterly beautiful and eerie, and clearly rife with symbolism, with that feeling of a fractured fairytale. The hazy, intoxicated, sun-drenched vibe makes it feel like a nostalgia-fueled homage, celebration, and goodbye. It truly feels like a theatrical performance in some ways, a one-woman show, with the audience acknowledged, involved, and loved. In other ways, it's a bow, an ending, an epilogue, not only for her twenties, but for some of those who followed her through her twenties. It feels like an acceptance too; she knows that not everyone who watched over her twenties is going to follow her into the next era - maybe because they're older now, busier, or perhaps she's the one who's changed, grown and can't, won't please the same people she once did. So, for some, this really is the curtain call, the final goodbye for IU in her twenties and those who have been with her till now, even if they stay here. When she goes through the veil, she appears to move on, and she leaves you with the choice to follow. But even if you don't, the lyrics tell you that she will still feel her life was successful if you remember her fondly as she is now.
Thematically, this also feels very close to 'eight' - we dance under the orange sun/together with no shadow below us/no separation was meant to be/let’s meet at the memory that was once beautiful/forever young. This could almost be the island of eight. It's a farewell and yet not, because whether you follow her into her thirties or not, she's still going to be here, now, dancing under the orange sun, in this memory, forever young. So perhaps in some ways, it's also a haunting.
I love that it's both a bookend for and a contrast with Every End of the Day, her first song of the era; she has the same braid, and she's once again in the presence of someone we don't see, but this time she's inside in the sunshine, rather than outside, so it feels more intimate, like the relationship which started so long ago, has now progressed to this level of intimacy. The pastels and ice-cream of that video are a contrast to the dark silhouettes and alcohol/smoke of this one; she's all grown up now. It's very interesting that all three of her released music videos for the album - Lilac, Coin, and Epilogue - are bookended. They all start and end the same way; Lilac and Coin within the video itself, and Epilogue for the era as a whole. It fits within the overall theme - spring is short but it comes again. It's a cycle, but it's not stagnation; coming back somewhere, coming back to something, is not the same as never having left. It's also so different from how age is usually depicted, as a linearity; if twenties is spring, then, usually, the thirties would be summer or early autumn, but instead through this album, she says that she's gone through the winter of her twenties (eight), and now she's going back to spring, it's really only the beginning.

The goosebumps when she took a bow at the end 👏 as a 10 year old uaena it feels like she's not just ending the album but rather she's also saying goodbye to the experiences of her 20s.
