  • The clock on this spectrum analyzer can't be disabled via the settings menu, but if you cut the RTC module's ground pin, it will automatically drop into standby mode when the audio stops.

    Thank you for making this video! Not only is the clock annoying, but it also burns out the VFD display faster because it is constantly running 24/7. Eventually you will notice some of the areas not as bright as others when it is in sprectrum mode.

    Thank you very much. It's a pity that it's still "noisy" in the sense that it announces to the world that it's entering STDBY! But still much better than the annoying cycling clock. Thank you for the tip.

    My words exactly... who the hell wants another clock. I want to have this under my monitor and only show the chart when music and it's not just that a clock. Having a regular LCD clock would not be annoying but this has these fancy spinning numbers, sometimes it switches to the date. Having this in your eyesight all day long is annoying AF at best. Gonna mod it asap and give negative review for the seller. This should be possible from the menu.

      Yeah ... because of this "Standby,Clock and AK bootingshit" they are useless ....
      Would love to have some without all this BS for repairing some SA Amplifiers from Pioneer.

    You can also disable it through the settings without risking breaking anything.

      @@samhorn6424 Nothing his bsing this thing doesnt even come with a manual. You cant disable it other way I just unsoldered the chip completely, that works.

      @@lineways5477 thanks for mentioning removing the chip completely. I think that might be easier than trying to snip one of the pins, as my clock chip is in a different spot, closer to the center of the board (I assume it’s a newer design, but the chip still matches the original). So there were no negative effects from removing it entirely?

      @@lineways5477 The following commands are listed from Aliexpress and work with my recent device. The process is to tap the OK button 5 times to change the settings in sequence below. So 5 clicks and you enter setting 1. Five clicks again to enter setting 2, and so on until you circle back to 1 again.
      Five Clicks of the OK Button
      1. Automatic mode (display spectrum when receiving audio signal, display clock when no audio signal)
      2. Automatic mode without clock (display spectrum when receiving audio signal, enter deep sleep when there is no audio signal, and turn off VFD)
      3. Music mode (spectrum status is always displayed, clock is not displayed)
      4. Clock mode (only display clock, not spectrum)

      @@Fingerprintguy Literally about to pop her open lol. But I read your post. I think its on point because it takes a moment for the spectrum to kick in when i play music, letting me know it is probably on standby mode and not just on using juice when not in use.. surprisingly works off the usb on mac mini, short cable provided. now to get that red line back on the bottom and she's good. Any known cases to enclose this thing, let the masses know, thanx for the post.

    Can you tell me what seller had them for $30-something? I found a similar JVFD2515 with an identical VFD, but completely different controller board for $33-ish, but there are no RTC pins on the bottom.

      I got mine from "TCXRE Audio Store", but it's not there anymore. AliExpress isn't very consistent over time.

      @@p1mrx Thanks, the seller is still on Aliexpress, but they don't sell this item any more. I might try the JVFD2515, maybe it has an SMD version of the RTC on the other side.

    Do you know how many volts and amps this display consumed while doing the music spectrum? I want to splice the switch power from my head unit to this spectrum analyzer. Should I put like a 5amp fuse in the middle of the splice power to the analyzer?

    • @p1mrx
      @p1mrx  3 года назад +1

      The "White Noise" mode on playnoise.com mostly maxes out the bars, and in that case the VFD draws 5 volts * 0.68 amps = 3.4 watts, so a 1 amp fuse is probably fine. But where are you getting 5 volts from? If it's a USB-style power supply, then it shouldn't be able to push enough amps to need a fuse on the output side.

    I just purchased the newest version of the AF2515 and it appears they moved the clock module more toward the center of the board. Would it be safe to assume the ground pin is located in the same corner on the module? Looks like there is still the same number of pins and are arranged the same (4 on one end and 8 on the other)

    • @p1mrx
      @p1mrx  2 года назад +1

      That pin arrangement is pretty distinctive, so if they haven't changed it, then I agree that the ground pin is probably in the same position.

      @@helipilot27 I did not see instructions on how you can disable it through the settings. Are you sure that’s possible? If so, do you know where I can find the instructions? I haven’t tried to cut the ground pin on mine yet, because it is a bit harder to get to than the one in this video. Was afraid I might screw it up..
