- Guruvayur Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Lord Guruvayurappan, located in the town of Guruvayur in Kerala, India. It is one of the most important places of worship for Hindus in Kerala and is often referred to as Bhuloka Vaikunta. The presiding deity of the Guruvayur Temple is Guruvayoorappan.
The temple is dedicated to Shri Krishna, who is worshipped as Guruvayurappan, the deity of the famous Shri Krishna Temple in Guruvayur Town in the state of Kerala. The temple was founded on 17 may 1983.
Who is Lord guruvayurappan?
The word Guruvayurappan, meaning Lord of Guruvayur, comes from the words Guru (ഗുരു) referring to Brihaspati, the Guru of the Devas, Vayu (വായു), the God of Wind and Appan (അപ്പന്), meaning 'father' or 'Lord' in Malayalam.

i visited Guruvayoor ji last year in October during Navaratri . It was a wonderful experience. I visited the temple in the morning.i got through in special queue. We stayed in Hotel Ananda Krishna. Very near to temple. Tasty veg Kkerala meal. Affordable sarees for wife.

Lord shiva also helped to construct the temple. Also it was also devi rukmini (with lord krishna) who worshipped guruvayurappan in dwaraka (in their pooja room)

NARAYANEEYAM ka bhi recording aur kahani bathayiye na! Bahut sundar hai. Aur is kruti ko Shri Guruvayoorappan ke liye Bhakth Shri Narayan Bhattathiri ne likha tha, wahan mandir mein Bhagvan ke samaksh baidh kar.
Guruvayoor Appan means The Lord of Guruvayoor. Basically The God Who Resides in Guruvayoor Appan Form at the temple.

You didn't mention that earlier Lord Shiva was seating there but as per ritual Lord Krishna can be seated after fall of Dwarka Lord Shiva with his wife moved from there

Earlier Guruvayoor consisted of Mammiyoor Shiva temple also. This was a vast area situated together then.
Now after centuries lots of Hotels are blocking the vision of Guruvayoor and Mammiyoor temples.
Even today, while visiting Guruvayoor appan we should look towards Mammiyoor appan and pray.
Otherwise the pilgrimage is not complete.

The place where Guruvayoor is seated that place earlier Shiva was seated that's why pond is located near Krishna temple and shiva shifted to Mammiyoor. Krishna idol was brought after fall of Dwarka, the ideal place was guruvayur and the name itself say it.....

Sorry sir but each and every divya desam is known as bhoolok vaikuntham. Here in North we consider Badrinath, Ayodhya, Madhura, Naimisharanyam, Dwarika and Jagannatha puri as bhoolok vaikuntham also. There are many more ancient and sacred shrines of paramatma all over the Indian subcontinent which are consider vaikuntham on bhoo devi.
