The best bit of kit for this year was Amanda Zito and her advice. ;) Calamity's a good name for a cat. :D My cat's called Murmur. Which is ironic as she's the most vocal cat I've ever come across. lol Merry Christmas to you and your family Amanda. :)
Now in August of 2020 , I am a bit late to the party. I just have to say That you are probably the most pleasant pesron I have "met" recently thank you for being a breath of fresh air.
Favorite gear this year used Sony HX400V - came with 8 batteries, nice case and a clear lens cover. Betty Lou is getting new shocks, some plastic repair, Atlas throttle lock, dash board, tire pressure/temperature monitor, fuse box with fuses that actually light up when they burn out, and some rewiring. Financially not wise, but Betty Lou is priceless!!!! CALAMITY - great cat I am sure, love cats!! I am a veterinarian and cats are my next to the top favorite patients. Holstein cow is number one. Does Calamity own her own restaurant as did Calamity Jane. You mentioned that on your Pilgrimage ....I think.
Yeaaa! Not gonna lie I am a Sony fan girl. So I'm pretty biased lol Good memory!!! lol No my Calamity doesn't have her own restaurant, actually she's pretty darn skittish, so she doesn't take after her name sake very much XD
Calamity? Perfect name for a cat. Favourite gear this year would be the cardo units we got. We being my myself, my son and his girlfriend. Works out great being able to communicate while on the go.
Love my InReach and I just picked up a Mavic Air, so I'm super stoked to hear it's working well for you. So great to see another moto video maker from Oregon!
Calamity Jane...... awesome name, .... wow, that rhymes. Well I'm a poet and didn't know it. Ok enough of that. My favourite riding gear ( there is a long list) is the "first gear" heated jacket, man oh man it's fantastic. I've had it for one season now and can't say enough. I was using an old heated vest, massive upgrade. It was a little on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. Thanks so much for the awesome content.
Calamity is a cool cat. I have a cat named Auggie (nickname sh*thead for being the messiest cat ever). My fave gear is my Garmin InReach Mini. My significant other appreciates that we can text often enough for peace of mind when I venture off the grid. Thanks for another great video Amanda!
Best New Gear. Metal Mule panniers made in the UK. Great company with super customer service. Tough as nails. Love your videos. Has me dreaming about next year's adventures. The Garmin give you peace of mind. Take er Easy. Safe Rides.
Bought myself a Wolfman tank bag & it's bomb proof...well nearly ;) I'd buy some of their saddle bags but they're like hens teeth here in the uk & when I can find them they're so much more expensive than in the US, tho I may just have to save harder & get me some as they really do make very good gear & have obviously put a lot of thought & effort into their products. Calamity Jane is such a cool name...used to have a cat called Chainsaw & his brother was called Dave :)
Awesome! :D ;) Man I didn't think about that, your struggle finding Wolfman in the UK is the same as my struggle trying to get Rally Raid parts in the US XD Thanks Bimble :)
Good stuff Amanda, I agree the GoPro app is pretty sub par, I feel like they haven't put any R&D into since the sessions. I have a love hate relationship with the 7 Black, which I should probably do a video about. That Drone though !
There was a great Portland band in the early 90’s called Calamity Jane! Best gear that I added this year was a Garmin InReach mini, a Moscow Moto tailbag (Stinger 22L, I think), and a Knox Action MKI shirt. The Knox armoured shirt is amazing for keeping all of my armour in exactly the right spot and against my body. I do find that it doesn’t breathe well enough for me for summer weather, as I am a human radiator. Now that it’s cooler though, it’s amazing! Thanks for another year of amazing videos, Amanda! I wish you happy holidays and a wonderful new year. Feel better soon and ride safe, buddy!
lol That's pretty cool ;) An Excellent list of new gear! Like the Knox Armoured Shirt! Good to know it's not super breathable, but then again I'm ALWAYS cold so it probably wouldn't bother me lol Thank you for watching them FredtheBarber! Happy Holidays to you and yours :)
I always like your tags at the end or your videos. Calamity indeed. Favourite 2019 gear was more of a system, i.e. cooking upgrades: my cast iron pans, 2 burner stove and a 5 lb. propane tank. No wonder I am hauling a trailer.
Super late to the party, but hey - it’s not a total calamity. At least I can say Merry Christmas! My favourite piece of gear right now is my Klim Baja S4 jacket. Just did a training day in 30 C (86 F) and didn’t totally melt.
We are all geared up! My latest addition is my iPad. I won’t have to drag a laptop around and have a great means of capturing the next vacation memories. I haven’t had a chance to travel with it yet but am really looking forward to our first adventure together. Calamity Kitty! Love it! I had a cat much like yours... Little Bit. The biggest cat in the house. Scared of mice. Loved to chase flying bugs. Skeeter Eaters were her favorite. Funniest darn cat ever. Great gear recommendations. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
Enjoyed the video as always, and btw... the cats are a good touch. Bet the drone would be an excellent way to film an impromptu free style dance... just saying. Lol Continued safe travels !!
I can see I’ve missed some pretty good tech reviews by not knowing you existed on RUclips. Thank you very much for the information on the drone and the Sena 10c. Ride Safe...
Haha I think there's really only a handful of reviews 😅 maybe once a year I do a round up like this, trying to do more as people ask me to do them! Thanks Roger!
another great video from Calamity Jane's Hooman. The best thing I added this year was Tusk heated grips! Always thought heated grips were one of those 'goldwing' useless things but NO I really love these things and will add them to every bike from now on
lol Excellent, thank you David! :D Yesss! Heated Grips for the win! I felt the same before I got my first set, now I moan about not having them when I ride the Tiger lol
Kalamity James. Probably spelled that wrong:) I have a Phantom 4 which I use professionally, so it never gets to go on MC trips. I want the new Mavic mini. That thing would be perfect for ride alongs.
lol thanks for making it to the end :P I remember seeing the Phantom 4 in one of your videos! The Mavic Mini is def the best bang for the buck right now as far as portability on the bike for sure!
Merry Christmas Amanda! To you and Calminity the cat. I so truly enjoy your honesty and great informative videos. Hopefully some day I might to ride in your neck of the woods. Ride safe and stay well. I look forward to your next videos as we enter into 2020. Wishing you and your family all the best!
Nerd note: this isn't the only channel that I subscribe to that has referenced an isobutane explosion. My eyebrows can attest to my own anecdotal experience with same. Some things are universal. Like motorcycles and their maintenance. I like to think that if there is an advanced intelligence out there somewhere that they too ride around on 2 motorized wheels or one big flying one.
Great video! I sold my old drone for the same reason, as it was pretty much impossible to carry and unpacking/packing was a nightmare. I'll have to check out the one you have.
Enjoyed this one a lot. I’m curious as to why you need to calibrate your drone every time? I have the mavic pro and I have calibrated it maybe 5 times over the past year. New gear I picked up: all time favorite is the osmo pocket. So awesome for b roll and for quick off the bike vlogging. I just received it from the mrs a few weeks ago for my bday, and as you saw in the “Savannah by motorcycle video”, I used it almost exclusively when I was off the bike. Second would be our new sleeping system by big Agnes. The big creek 30 bag with the Qcore SLX double wide sleeping pad. Big upgrade in comfort. Third would have to be the gerbing heated pants and gloves. Those saved me on the ride from Florida to Wyoming when the temps dropped to the 30’s. Even though I couldn’t get the gloves to work until it was back in the 60’s but that was user error. We men don’t read the manual. Anyway keep up the great work. I hope you’re feeling better and have a great holiday. Mike Mr 2wheeler
Probably just a software issue, idk, or maybe it's because everytime I pull it out I'm 100-300 miles from where it was last turned on XD That is an awesome piece of kit! You can never underestimate the power of a good sleeping pad and good sleeping bag. Thanks Mike! :) Happy Holidays to you!
I don’t know much about the brand of luggage you use but just your story of how they have treated you from the start is enough for me to want to check them out. I need a couple of 20L bags and I’ll give them a shot
Thanks so much Cliff, I'm sure you're unlikely to regret it. Wolfman is pretty rad. I think some of their pieces are on sale as they try and clear out old stock to release their new line.
Insta360 One X camera (+ ram claw mount, insta360 remote, insta360 carbon fiber selfie stick). Now that I have my mounting solution and preferred shooting mode nailed, there's no prep work involved with it, I just start it. The horizon always stays level, the stabilization of the world is perfect, a rigid mounting solution nullifies bike bob, portable battery keeps it going, and I can direct the view entirely in post. It's like having a drone chase cam without the drone.
If Calamity Jane lives up to the reputation of the name all the neighbourhood cats should be very afraid lol My favourite purchase this year was my handlebar phone mount. It’s made by Ram. Super well built! Little on the pricey side. I paid close to $100 Canadian for it. That being said, I bought one of similar style, not as well built off of amazon for my second bike. The price was $15. So for the price I would buy the one from Amazon. Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you and yours! Cheers!
lol Thanks Travis! Having a good phone mount makes such a big difference trips around town! I'm not gonna lie lol I have the cheap ones off Amazon on all my bikes, and never had an issue with my phone coming off even on rocky stuff.
Did you know that they shut down the Calamity Jane restaurant in Sandy? Sad! I wanted to go there some day! I have to pick 5 things? 1. Dal Soggio Ray suspension kit 2. Garmin inreach mini 3. 16" tent poles for my tent (fits in my bags) 4. Updated, single zipper Giant Loop Diablo Pro tank bag 5. Bell MX-9 MIPS adv helmet
Best piece of gear🤔 just building up to start traveling next year...i’m not really using much now...but my new bike must be the best piece then...it’s a 650gs twin...have a great Christmas with Calamity..and the rest of the family of course...
Love the perspective on the drone, have been thinking of getting one but not sure how much I would use it. will be keeping wolfman in my thoughts when I am looking for any type of bags for the bike for sure. Glad you are liking the new 10C, not sure if I would want to trade my 20S for one with a camera. I get all day on the 20s with music and wife discussions lol. Always good to have a backup camera, I unfortunately have learned that one along the way 😪Haha Calamity Jane! I know someone who calls her motorcycle by that name! My favorite piece off gear this year was our Sena 20S's it allowed the wife and I to communicate without yelling and offered us some music on our long rides together!
The battery life on the on the comm part of the 10C EVO is the same as all the rest of my Sena devices have been. The camera has a separate battery that's life is quite a bit shorter. So even if you can't shoot film anymore the Communications part of the Sena device will still work for quite a while.
@@AstheMagpieFlies that's an awesome feature. I did not know that, but it shouldn't surprise me, Sena seems to be on top of the features that are most important
Calamity Jane wants more camera time. Hahaha! 🐈. I hope you get to feeling better. I always wondered what the yellow “walkie-talkie-looking” device was. Good to know about the Sena EVO. Would you recommend it over the 10C Pro? I can’t get my GoPro apps to work anywhere else either. My favorite gear this year is the Sena 10C Pro. It doesn’t put out better quality as the new GoPros, but it’s easier for me to operate while riding. I also love my new Gimbal. I only used it once this year, but look forward to using it more next year. 👍
lol Thanks Harley Girl! I would personally yes, because of the better resolution, BUT I have only used the 10c Pro on one or two outings, I had more experience with the first gen 10C, before that. Compared to the 10C I would say def upgrade 100%, but if you only recently go the 10c Pro I'd wait until the 10C Evo has been on the market for a little longer, THEN upgrade lol You can never underestimate convenience and ease of use! It's the difference between recording an important moment and not, which we always regret later lol Worth the down step in 'quality' in my opinion.
As the Magpie Flies Thanks much! I appreciate you advice! 👍👍. I’ve been really tempted to get it, but I will wait a little while. Ive had my 10C Pro for a year, so it is still fairly new.
@@AstheMagpieFlies - Hexon 1.6; I went with a double layer and use my Klymit insulated pad as an under quilt; Using the pad that way ensures I have a backup for sleeping on the ground if I need. Love the hammock - so comfortable!
I love my Mavic Air, but also don't use it as much as I should. The calamity of unpacking and the embarrassment of a 6'5", 315lb guy doing the compass dance. My favorite piece of gear is my new Spyder which I was able to buy within 3 weeks of totaling my first Spyder. Also a Nikon Coolpix P900, the zoom on this thing is amazing and does great video as well.
Can I call my super comfy low seat my favorite piece of gear from this year? I also loved that I found sunscreen in a small stick I could keep in my handlebar bag. And I bought buffs so I got stung ZERO times by flies, wasps, or bees, avoiding calamity at all costs! Great video!
Heck yes! Discovering Sunscreen Sticks was also one of my fave things this year. Oh and the Kula Cloth. It's literally the best pee rag. I know now because I lost my first one on the Magruder, so I bought another 'pee rag' from another company. Just lackluster, not at all as good as the Kula Cloth. So I broke down and bought another one lol Buffs are a very important part of not getting stung! lol ;)
I think we all have similar problem with drones. They are awesome but it's a lot of hassle to take it away and record something... I had the same issue ;)
Great gear, my friend! I hope you get to feeling better fast 😔Well, this year I scored some quality 2nd hand cold weather gear (heavy jacket and pants), I'd been just layering the crap out of myself and was unwilling to ante up until this year, LOL, and for Betty I ditched the street tires for a decent 70/30, a skid plate/crash bars, and some miles. Loving the tires/skid plate (hopefully won't need the crash bars, haha!) and cold weather gear in that order (though with it being December, the order is apt to change). Calamity Jane--no funny quip needed, hand shook 😋 Merry Christmas, my friend, to yours and you from mine and me 😊✌
Heated waistcoat, washable. charge ub port lasts for 6 hours. 3 settings fleece lined. :-) What are you getting for Christmas any idea's ? I have some of my presents all ready :-) take care have a great holiday.
Heated Gear is such a game changer! lol Probably just new "legs" for my desk. My S.O. and I share a work desk which we made out of a BIG Door and it's resting on 2 boxes, right now those boxes are too wide so my right knee is always pushed against the corner of the box. Hopefully this christams we're going to upgrade to three set of drawers to support the desk instead so we have more leg room and more storage. I'm unreasonably excited about it because I spend so much time at this desk XD
Calamity likes to cause insanity 🤪 I’m not sure if I have any favorite gear for 2019... maybe that weepro anti fog insert for helmet visor. Now that was a game changer lol
you got the new dji drone I got the one it replaced the dji spark as it was on special. have since purchased 2 more batteries and the power case to hold and charge the drone and the batteries. I am looking at going with the soft luggage just need to see how to mount on the bike. merry Christmas and Happy New year keep the rubber on the ground and shinny side up.
lol Thanks Alan Happy Holidays to you and yours! I hope the Spark has been treating you good. What kind of bike do you have? That makes a big difference in whether you should get some pannier racks to support the bags or go a different soft luggage option that doesn't need the racks.
I always look for your videos. I got 2 Wolfman dry bags based on your review. Fortunately I got them for half price. They are really strong and well made though. I need to get a satellite communicator. Also need to tour Montana. ...from Texas.
Aw! Thank you Mark! That's awesome! :D Grabbing those hot deals! Well done! *cough* Rocky Mountain Roll would be a great opportunity to tour Montana :P
@@AstheMagpieFlies Hmm. Definitely an idea. I wanted to take a trip to Glacier but I'm a l'm planning to go to Black Canyon & Zion this spring. If that goes well Montana might become more of an option. I'm a little concerned the distance between Dallas and Montana. I'll go back and check out your Rocky Mountain Roll vids.
I seen your almost half way between Yellowstone and Glacier. That's cool. RMR might be a real possibility. The guy who was best man in my wedding lives near Bozeman. There are options. I visited (tent camping) Yellowstone, Cody, Teton's a couple years ago ... before I started riding. I loved it.
1. Why not the inReach mini? 2. Guppie bag, cool! My wife will like that! 3. Calamity...? Inspired by some of your adventures??? You rock! Merry Christmas! & lets ride some time. Mi casa su casa
1. Same reason I didn't buy the Explorer. Price. It literally does the same thing. But the SE is cheaper. 2. Yay! 3. Lol my mom named her not me 😂 Merry Christmas to you Rik! Thank you 😊
Mosko Moto are nice people. In my experience the simpler the design is the less amount of things there are to break, or fail on you. I've never had the bags myself just friends who've had them, so I don't think it's fair for me to pass any kind of judgement.
I didn't add much gear this year, but I did add a Rylo camera to the fold. The stabilization is amazing!! I can even upload without a computer! www.rylo.com Amanda, I hope you (and Calamity) have a wonderful holiday.
Calamity, noun - An event causing great and often sudden damage or distress... yup.... sounds like a cat. As for my favorite piece of ADV gear, I am picking up at GS 1250 GSA next month, I will let ya know in a year :)
Nice channel and I love your background music and I have 2 tips for you; buy 2 things of chapstick- 1 for you and one for all zippers on your gear. Next tip is bring 4 - one gallon zip lock bags to put over your gloves to keep your hands from freezing and I use the foot and hand warmers. I learned the bag tip from a motorcycle cop. One question how much do the heated grips cost? I will buy you a cup of coffee and 1 gallon of gas but need to know how to do that. Jeff Cagle p.s. I have 2 motorcycle's, one is a 1977 Suzuki GS 550 B and the other is a 2016 Harley Davidson Lowrider Thanks for a fantastic channel.
Thanks so much Chris! I will counter your Ziplock bags for your gloves with HippoHands! :P Much more comfortable! My Bike Master Heated grips were just under $40 when I bought them. So so worth it. Thank you!! You can 'buy me a cup of coffee' through this link: ko-fi.com/asthemagpieflies
Nice one Amanda, definitely going to be investing in a drone and a Garmin communicator next year! Hope you feel better soon and have a great Christmas! Calamity Jane haha, any particular reason for the name?
Thanks Moto Dans! Lol my mama names her, she's one out of a batch of three kittens my parents adopted. She's a scaredy kitty with some claws on her lol
Which GoPro do you have? I always have had connectivity problems with my GoPro and the app, but I have an older model (GoPro Hero 4!) You are now just one of several friends with GoPros who have had serious issues! I need a new action camera soon, and I'm starting to stray away from considering a GoPro. I was actually thinking about getting one of DJI's action cameras, like the Osmo Pocket!
I got the GoPro Hero 7 Black. From the reading I did it's because my computer is 'too old' to be built with the codec you need to utilize any footage you take with the advanced features. And the kicker is there is no where to download that codec. I looked. Your computer is either built with it or not that's it lol But even shooting on Auto I have issues. I haven't heard anyone complain about the Osmo yet. Now I wish I had played with the RX100 at Camp! :P
Amanda: This is my second posting on this thread. I am trying to locate your video on the riding boots you wear. I believe they are Gaerne..I’ve exhausted the battery on my iPad twice searching. “Could you please point me in the direction of that video”...😊. I am interested in your opinion on the quality and comfort of this brand. ALSO...... Based on your review and endorsement, I bought the Bike Master heated grips and the Sena 10C Evo. Two of my Best Buy’s for 2020. I needed the cam-com, and the heated grips and now I need a pair of Adventure Tour boots.... Keep the videos coming..... Ride safe.
Hey Roger! :D I have the Gaerne All Terrain GTX (aka Goretex) I love love love them, I've had them for about 3ish years now. I have zero complaints, rode through a whole lot of rainstorms with no wet feet. I don't think I've done a proper review on them, I did mention them in this video: ruclips.net/video/zYyGmDVXqJM/видео.html I hope your New Gear treats you well! :D
great info, I lost my sony action cam on the road this year (bummer), cordless mic's too. That 10C evo looks interesting I'll check it out, does it have a mic jack?
favorite pieces of gear this year: 1. my new husky fe-450 (can i count a new bike as "gear?") 2. fmf q4 pipe (which my wife bought for me; thanks, honey!) 3. seat concepts comfort seat 4. cycra hand guards (another item she bought me) 5. jdjetting tuner (yep, she bought that, too) so, what is the back story to "calamity jane?" :-)
about 10-12 minutes before it's down to 1-2 bars and I bring it back so it doesn't force land somewhere out of reach. It CAN do 15 minutes it's just not a good idea lol Supposedly the Mavic Mini has a longer flight time (in perfect conditions), but it doesn't deal with wind well (because it's so light) and the Mavic Air had higher bit rate and more frame rate options. So I'm still happy I got the air instead of waiting for the mini. However, since the mini is under weight you don't have to register it, and it's like half the price of the Air.
I wish I could say yes I do all the time. However the truth is that I have some, and I wear them sometimes on particularly windy sections of freeway when I can't even hear my audio books. The Majority of the time I wear in-ear headphones that double as ear plugs so I can listen to audio books, and then like 20-30 percent of the time I'm not wearing headphones or earplugs and I'm just doodling down backroads at like 40 mph listening to music from my Sena.
If you plug you Sana into power before you turn it on the battery doesn’t go dead.. it will record all day. You can’t turn it on and then plug it into the power. So I have been told be I report.
My favorite piece of gear (for my Harley) this year is a wool fleece seat cover from Alaskan Fur. Pricey, but soft & airy... My rides are so much more comfortable, and no more Ape Ass... which at the end of the day... (just sayin’!)
To be clear it's not a GPS it's a Satellite Messenger. So think of it more like a phone bill lol With an SOS button that will send a very expensive Calvary in a life threatening situation.
Sena has become "I wanted to like them" for me except for the ones without the wheel. The redesign of the wheel a few years ago created an issue for some of us with the volume being changed by it brushing against the shoulder of our jacket while riding, a probably that has been repeatedly reported to Sena but they have no interest in addressing. I had an SMH10 that was fine but when it died in 2017 I got a 20S EVO and immediately hated it for that. I did not feel any unhappiness when it died the day it went out of the 2 year warranty (it had also developed issues of battery life being down to 3-3.5 hours in that time and while off draining a fully charged battery if sitting 3-7 days unusued.) I did buy a Sena more recently to ride with my girlfriend, but it was the SRL2 model to fit in my new GT-Air II.
Calamity's a Mystery Cat: he’s called the Hidden Paw- For he’s the master criminal who can defy the Law. He’s the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad’s despair: For when they reach the scene of crime - Calamity's not there. With apologies to T.S. Eliot
"Calamity?" If you were headed down that road, why not CATastrophy? Just asking. BTW, Dogs have masters, cats have staff. Think of that next time Calamity has given you even a minor catastrophe to clean up or work around......people think they own cats, but cats understand it is the other way round. Hmm? come to think of it, I guess when Calamity causes a problem, it is "in the spirit of the channel, things always go wrong.." Wishing you and all the Zito's of the beautiful Bitterroot Valley a Joyous Christmas and Happy New Year.
lol I'm not the one who named her, you'll have to talk to my mom about that. lol like I said, they run the house. Thanks Richard! Happy Holidays to you and yours! :)
The best bit of kit for this year was Amanda Zito and her advice. ;)
Calamity's a good name for a cat. :D My cat's called Murmur. Which is ironic as she's the most vocal cat I've ever come across. lol

Yes!! Learned the hard way it is vitally important to have the same brand as all of your friends ;)
Love my InReach and I just picked up a Mavic Air, so I'm super stoked to hear it's working well for you.
So great to see another moto video maker from Oregon!
Ya!
lol RIGHT we're a rare breed! We should collab in the Spring when the weather is a little less miserable ha!

YES! 100%

Aw Thanks :D
Cast Iron is a GOOD piece of new kit. lol and I would agree lol you'd /need/ a trailer for all that XD
Super late to the party, but hey - it’s not a total calamity. At least I can say Merry Christmas! My favourite piece of gear right now is my Klim Baja S4 jacket. Just did a training day in 30 C (86 F) and didn’t totally melt.
I utterly agree about full zips... so much more usable :-)
lol YES
We are all geared up! My latest addition is my iPad. I won’t have to drag a laptop around and have a great means of capturing the next vacation memories. I haven’t had a chance to travel with it yet but am really looking forward to our first adventure together. Calamity Kitty! Love it! I had a cat much like yours... Little Bit. The biggest cat in the house. Scared of mice. Loved to chase flying bugs. Skeeter Eaters were her favorite. Funniest darn cat ever. Great gear recommendations. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
Awesome! That's very exciting!
lol Thanks Robin!
I also have the Patagonia fleece jacket and I agree with you it is a quality product. Thanks for sharing your reviews.
Yess! It's amazing!
Thanks :)
Enjoyed the video as always, and btw... the cats are a good touch. Bet the drone would be an excellent way to film an impromptu free style dance... just saying. Lol Continued safe travels !!
Thanks Pierre! :D
XD Aerial Happy Dances... noted lol
Gold star to Jonathan's parents.
Yesss! Heated Grips for the win! I felt the same before I got my first set, now I moan about not having them when I ride the Tiger lol
@@AstheMagpieFlies The Tusk ones from RMA are only 49 bucks, just got a set for the Buell Ulysses
Kalamity James. Probably spelled that wrong:) I have a Phantom 4 which I use professionally, so it never gets to go on MC trips. I want the new Mavic mini. That thing would be perfect for ride alongs.
lol thanks for making it to the end :P
I remember seeing the Phantom 4 in one of your videos!
Happy Holidays to you and yours David!
;)
Nerd note: this isn't the only channel that I subscribe to that has referenced an isobutane explosion. My eyebrows can attest to my own anecdotal experience with same. Some things are universal. Like motorcycles and their maintenance. I like to think that if there is an advanced intelligence out there somewhere that they too ride around on 2 motorized wheels or one big flying one.
Great video! I sold my old drone for the same reason, as it was pretty much impossible to carry and unpacking/packing was a nightmare. I'll have to check out the one you have.
Thanks Gromtrooper!
Mike
Mr 2wheeler
Probably just a software issue, idk, or maybe it's because everytime I pull it out I'm 100-300 miles from where it was last turned on XD
That is an awesome piece of kit!
That's awesome Rhombus Labs!
If Calamity Jane lives up to the reputation of the name all the neighbourhood cats should be very afraid lol
My favourite purchase this year was my handlebar phone mount.
The Sena 10c is on my wish list
hope it's the 10c Evo ;)
Good video thanks for sharing and Mary Christmas and happy new year
Thanks Jim!
Did you know that they shut down the Calamity Jane restaurant in Sandy? Sad! I wanted to go there some day!
I have to pick 5 things?
1. Dal Soggio Ray suspension kit
2. Garmin inreach mini
3. 16" tent poles for my tent (fits in my bags)
4. Updated, single zipper Giant Loop Diablo Pro tank bag
5. Bell MX-9 MIPS adv helmet
I did see that! I'm still upset about it, never did get to stop in! I always thought about it but never stopped.
An Excellent list!
2 things -
- Great low speed control!
- Love the 🐈 s
lol Thanks Video Biker!
Love that Sena. I'll give that a look for sure as well the drone. Calamity is looking good!
Thanks Dakota Pat!
Just found your channel and watched a few video's. Much more entertainment than Calamity I'd say.........
Welcome Welcome Neil! :D
lol Thanks :)
I love watching your videos. Keep up the good work and thank you for all the effort.
Aw! Thank you so much :)
Best piece of gear🤔 just building up to start traveling next year...i’m not really using much now...but my new bike must be the best piece then...it’s a 650gs twin...have a great Christmas with Calamity..and the rest of the family of course...
Heck Yes New Bikes are always exciting!
I love my DJI mavic air too!
:D Yes! So much better than hauling around the Phantom XD
Your delivery seems so easy. Thanks for the recommendations. Big trip coming up in 2020 and I'll be checking some of this gear out.
Aww! Thank you so much lol It helps that I cut every single Um and there were a lot of them :P
Wooo! Big Trips are exciting!
👍👍on the video. And A super ADV Merry Christmas!!!! ✌
Thanks Steve! Happy Holidays to You!
Calamity is beautiful! She seems like a bigger kitty than any of my bunch.
Compared to the 10C I would say def upgrade 100%, but if you only recently go the 10c Pro I'd wait until the 10C Evo has been on the market for a little longer, THEN upgrade lol
You can never underestimate convenience and ease of use!
Merry Christmas to you and Calamity. Keep on doing what your doing.
Merry Christmas to you Bob! ;)
Thank you!
Awesome thank you
When Calamity strikes eh? Good to know about the Garmin device. May look into that one.
:D Thanks for making it to the end! For sure! I've been kicking myself for not having it sooner that's for sure lol
Thanks for sharing, great list. My favorite piece of gear this year was my Dutchware gear chameleon hammock.
Thanks Wayne!
Ooooo What Fabric did you choose?
Yay! New Spyder and New Camera! Excellent :)
So I broke down and bought another one lol
Buffs are a very important part of not getting stung! lol ;)
I think we all have similar problem with drones. They are awesome but it's a lot of hassle to take it away and record something... I had the same issue ;)
lol Thanks Uncle Longbeard! Glad I'm not the only lazy one XD
Calamity Jane--no funny quip needed, hand shook 😋 Merry Christmas, my friend, to yours and you from mine and me 😊✌
😊 glad you got some cold weather gear friend!
Thanks so much, 🤝
Heated waistcoat, washable. charge ub port lasts for 6 hours.
Oh yes! Anti Fog is like a godsend especially in the fall and spring months!
My best piece of gear this year is my KTM1190r, great videos really enjoy your channel, ride safe ride far,Rand
Heck yes!! Very Exciting Rand! :D
Thanks for all of your support :)
you got the new dji drone I got the one it replaced the dji spark as it was on special. have since purchased 2 more batteries and the power case to hold and charge the drone and the batteries.
I have the baby bmw g310gs. it has a rear rack and the pipe sticks out like yours so anything go to clear the pipe as well.
Great video! What camera are you using to film this video? Is it the same one used in the camp sites?
I loved it.
Merry Christmas hope you have GREAT 2020...where is the fire in the fireplace????
Merry Belated Holiday Glenn!
lol We have an insert, it's not a great fireplace lol
1. Why not the inReach mini?
2. Guppie bag, cool! My wife will like that!
3. Calamity...? Inspired by some of your adventures???
You rock! Merry Christmas! & lets ride some time. Mi casa su casa
1. Same reason I didn't buy the Explorer. Price. It literally does the same thing. But the SE is cheaper.
2. Yay!
3. Lol my mom named her not me 😂
Merry Christmas to you Rik! Thank you 😊
As the Magpie Flies oh, one other thing...
4. Thoughts on Wolfman versus Mosko Moto?
Mosko Moto are nice people.
In my experience the simpler the design is the less amount of things there are to break, or fail on you.
I've never had the bags myself just friends who've had them, so I don't think it's fair for me to pass any kind of judgement.
I love Calamity. ;)
:D Thanks Kenneth!
Calamity! Love it. Mines knievel!
!!! I love it :D It would be even better if you lived in Butte XD
I didn't add much gear this year, but I did add a Rylo camera to the fold. The stabilization is amazing!! I can even upload without a computer!
www.rylo.com
Amanda, I hope you (and Calamity) have a wonderful holiday.
That's very exciting :D
Happy Holidays friend :)
Calamity, noun - An event causing great and often sudden damage or distress... yup.... sounds like a cat. As for my favorite piece of ADV gear, I am picking up at GS 1250 GSA next month, I will let ya know in a year :)
woohoo!! New bikes are always fun!
Very cool, the truth.
Ride safe.
Hey Roger! :D
I have the Gaerne All Terrain GTX (aka Goretex) I love love love them, I've had them for about 3ish years now. I have zero complaints, rode through a whole lot of rainstorms with no wet feet.
I don't think I've done a proper review on them, I did mention them in this video: ruclips.net/video/zYyGmDVXqJM/видео.html
I hope your New Gear treats you well! :D
Thanks for the great video.
Thank you for watching it Raymond!!
Wolfman is good stuff
I'm def a fan ;)
great info, I lost my sony action cam on the road this year (bummer), cordless mic's too. That 10C evo looks interesting I'll check it out, does it have a mic jack?
I know this is like a year behind, but did you come up with Calamity Jane or did you get it from Wynonna Earp?
Great video! Merry Christmas - hope there are no calamities :)
Thanks so much Arwen! :D ;)
You are too funny! Hey Calamity!
Merry Christmas and happy new year
Merry Christmas to you too Doyle! :)
favorite pieces of gear this year:
1. my new husky fe-450 (can i count a new bike as "gear?")
2. fmf q4 pipe (which my wife bought for me; thanks, honey!)
3. seat concepts comfort seat
4. cycra hand guards (another item she bought me)
5. jdjetting tuner (yep, she bought that, too)
so, what is the back story to "calamity jane?" :-)
An excellent list! lol New Bikes def count lol
lol
Calamity was named by my Mom so you'd have to ask her at Rocky Mountain Roll :P
Full zip fleece = being able to don and doff without removing your helmet!!! Me thinks I need one.
RIGHT!? A very overlooked feature on all motorcycle gear: being able to put it on or remove it without having to take off a helmet lol
merry chrisrmas happy new year 👍👍👍😊😊😊
Happy Holidays Toby!
About how much flying time do you get with a full charge on the drone? Been seriously considering one.
about 10-12 minutes before it's down to 1-2 bars and I bring it back so it doesn't force land somewhere out of reach. It CAN do 15 minutes it's just not a good idea lol
Supposedly the Mavic Mini has a longer flight time (in perfect conditions), but it doesn't deal with wind well (because it's so light) and the Mavic Air had higher bit rate and more frame rate options. So I'm still happy I got the air instead of waiting for the mini. However, since the mini is under weight you don't have to register it, and it's like half the price of the Air.
@@AstheMagpieFlies Register with who?
With the FAA in the US
@@AstheMagpieFlies I had no idea. What's up with that, or why?
www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/register_drone/
Calamity acts a lot like my tuxedo guy Sam Adams (named after the beer, i didnt name him but didnt feel the need to change it either)
lol that's a great name :D
Time for a new cat and name it Invincable
I'm going to assume you meant Invincible.
New gear?? 2019 BMW 1250 GS...hows that for new gear?! Thank you for your videos.
Heck yes New Bikes are the best kind of new gear :)
Thanks Glenn!
Calamity wasn’t so keen on you talking to the “wall” for all those minutes. She’s awake and demands ATTENTION NOW, DAMMIT!
lol accurate
Amanda, do you wear earplugs while riding??
Halfway through and I legit about sh*t a brick when you said the GPS is a monthly subscription! That’s insane! Glad it’s worth it but wow!
To be clear it's not a GPS it's a Satellite Messenger. So think of it more like a phone bill lol
With an SOS button that will send a very expensive Calvary in a life threatening situation.
As the Magpie Flies yes! It is certainly an amazing accessory! I just never knew it was an monthly subscription! Lol!
Calamity must be a sharp shooter, She says Her Owner needs Gas!
XD
Sena has become "I wanted to like them" for me except for the ones without the wheel. The redesign of the wheel a few years ago created an issue for some of us with the volume being changed by it brushing against the shoulder of our jacket while riding, a probably that has been repeatedly reported to Sena but they have no interest in addressing. I had an SMH10 that was fine but when it died in 2017 I got a 20S EVO and immediately hated it for that. I did not feel any unhappiness when it died the day it went out of the 2 year warranty (it had also developed issues of battery life being down to 3-3.5 hours in that time and while off draining a fully charged battery if sitting 3-7 days unusued.)
I did buy a Sena more recently to ride with my girlfriend, but it was the SRL2 model to fit in my new GT-Air II.
Sorry to hear! I think the new ones they just released don't have Wheels on them.

lol Twinsies :P
big camera? Remote? What?????? LTMV #unt ;;; no new gear. Paying down debt and working on my goals. Ms C Jane.

Heck Yes!
