A more subtle colorway will change the entire dynamic of the shoe. I really do think it looks cool, I'm not a fan of low tops and would really like to see a high top version.
I like the Freak series a lot. As a wide-footer they are inconsistent though size-wise: Freak 1 half a size up, Freak 4 tts...definitely a try on IRL shoe series! 😉

You ever see the hot pink PE colorway for his daughter? Changes my entire opinon of the silhouette of the shoe. I think this shoe done with one color as the main upper AND outsole, and then the swoosh upper and lower part done in the same color as a pair, that’s how this shoe looks best. But most of the colorways haven’t had any uniformity. Every different panel and part of the swoosh is differnet and it’s terrible! But yeah the hot pink, the white team color with all black smoosh parts, and the all black colorway with all white swoosh parts are all actually super fire. I was blown away after how much I disliked the look of this

Love these shoes. Got them for 80 bucks at a Dick's online flash sale. I got the Nigerian Nightmare colorway and love the look. Somewhere between a soccer shoe, a bowling shoe, and an actual basketball shoe. The big swoosh gives it a retro touch and the micro-mesh panels have nice subtleties if you look up close. The colors are eye grabbing but not over the top. The fit is snug and the support is firm so it's great for quick changing lateral moves. As a comparison, my Jordan XXXVII's have too much cushion for my liking, these freak 5's are more for me. Great support with such a streamlined, minimal design. Not bulky at all so if you wear them off the court they feel like regular sneakers. Fit is true to size.
Definitely interested in getting a pair of the 5s. I liked the 2 and played in those quite a bit. I feel like his shoes are decent enough and I see a lot of people wearing them, crazy that even after winning a championship, the shoes haven’t really done too much as far as change their tech set up or price
I like the runner shoe approach in these. These can easily be a Nike Pegasus. The colorway although Christmas like actually grows on you the more you look at it. In other news, I hope Paul George can have another shoe with Nike 🙏

As much as I do want to grab a pair once a good colourway hits, no one can deny, this pair hella looks like the Bowling Alley 3's. Also, they seem to have gone backwards tech wise from the 4. The zoom setup looks the same as the Ja and KD Trey 5.
This was certainly a departure from what the 3 and 4 were. I like the simplicity of the design though….and having the reverse swoosh where it is. Really cool.

That green panel along the front-top of the shoe is really reminiscent of football (soccer) shoes - must have been a nod to Giannis' own personal love of the game.
As good as Nike’s cushion technology on the ff: air, zoom, and various foam compounds, it would be interesting to see if they will perhaps incorporate their own performance insole aside from these standard thin ortholite insoles.
I know these are basketball shoes but are they good for just walking around or for everyday use? I’ve never tried on the Freaks so I don’t know wether they’d be good for lounging. I was kinda surprised by the design itself, kinda remind me of a football/soccer shoes by design most specialy the green part on toes part were there seems to be a number made from stich.
The smear traction makes a lot of sense now, without knowing it was hallow I was completely kerfuffled. These don’t look too bad tho, Giannis is definitely worthy of a bigger & beefier zoom unit than those 4s.

If this had a regular swoosh I bet people would be going crazy for it. Simple design, decent performance elements, the materials aren't amazing but they look better than the plastic mesh nonsense we get everywhere.. that colorway is just awful though.

I never expected the Freak 5 to be such a good performer. Dont be fooled by the design. I too was a hater of the design until I tried it. Loving it!

I think Giannis made sure that his shoe line stays affordable. Which is why I don't think they will ever go with a premium line for him.
