Shameless comments regarding improvisation. Just stop it. Lata never improvises in a song like Rafi or Kishore ...I mean NEVER. Rafi and Kishore were and are still the greatest improvisers of a song. Lata sings a song the same way the music director teachers her whereas Rafi or. Kishore have their own nuances ...
Have you been to any recording of Lataji to comment on this fact? Did you know that most of her and Ashaji's recordings took their final shape after their improvisations were incorporated into the composition by the music directors? This is true even for their duets with Kishorda and Rafi sahib and even Manna Dey too. Listen to the accounts of at least 11 such music directors including Kalyanji, Khayyum and Kishorda himself. For the same songs that were recorded by Kishorda and Lataji, Kishorda requested to listen to Lataji's rendition and improvisations first, before recording his own version.
