One thing I found odd was Duronto getting WAP-5. Generally WAP-5 are faster than WAP-7 but they compromise on the load. It was just 19 coaches for Duronto probably maxed out for WAP-5 to maintain its MPS of 130+ km/h. Guess had the rake been the usual 23-24 coaches then a WAP-7 would have been used instead of WAP-5.
Yes 18-19 coaches are easily driven by WAP5 locos not an issue and now a days WAP5 Locos have an upgraded HP 6000 hp like a WAP7 so it doesn't make any huge difference

But I will still expect IR to use WAP-5s primarily for the Shatabdi's and Tejas express which need quick acceleration and maintaining speed over short distances ideally a day travel. For long distances spanning 2-3 days would continue with the WAP-7s. But, I do miss the WAM-4s...they were the best...my TATA shed had loads of them and were used in many trains - Steel, Ispat, Amritsar Exp, Dhauli, even Gitanjali had it ❤️❤️❤️
@@kdg81 yes bro but these days p7 are used to haul all shatabdis and that's ridiculous... P5 was bought for shatabdi type trains only.. They can allot to tejas also.. IR is a big mess😍😍
