It’s not just Philly rap, it’s everywhere in hip hop now. The reason for things changing is because of different generations, gentrification, social media and education. Everyone has gone soft today and too many strict rules and more policing. Which makes the world soft and makes hip hop soft now too. Unlike the old days you would walk into a bad neighborhood, you would see homies hanging out in the street and people drinking everywhere, block parties, graffiti everywhere, dirty looking streets, drug dealers outside, people fighting, people carjacking, it had that real gangsta life and it made the hip hop music feel more authentic and hardcore and more realistic in the videos but when u see someone create a gangsta video now, it’s too futuristic and makes the video look less rough and more fake , it doesn’t have that rough simple style anymore. I don’t know if y’all can understand what I mean but it’s in my mind and I know what I wanna say but I don’t know how to write it in words.

Because this hardcore hip hop, it’s a different genre. Mumble rap is trap music, different era, different generation. Hip hop music through the years was based on what environment it is set in and how society was back then Like back then the ghettos were a lot tough, rough and a lot of people wanted to be thugs. People drinking on the streets, people smoking everywhere, the areas were dirty, gun crimes were high, being a gangsta was considered cool then and areas looked rough looking compared to now. Having hardcore hip hop in this era doesn’t much the environment today with all this modern technology. Because all the places have been gentrified. At least back then the areas looked rough as fuck. I mean imagine seeing these dudes just chilling in a street like that. Some snowflake would call the police because they would think there up to no good but. Back then seeing people in big groups in the street was normal
