Very cool. Was looking for something like this a while back, but could not find. Decided to go full $100 UPS to protect cable modem, router and server from power brownouts, surges and to keep up during short power outages.

You need to power the load from an external power source, and take it from the battery only when there is no external power. To do this, connect the input to the TP4056 through a diode (1N5822) to the input of the MT3608 and also through the diode (1N5822) the output from the TP4056 to the input of the MT3608.

The charger you are using will only charge at 1amp 5v, but the router will draw 1a 12v, so you will drain the battery within a hour or so, otherwise nice project 🙂

I have replicated the same, however router TP Link with 9v 600ma is getting turned off as soon i plug to device. if i connect only with battery using mt3608 then router is getting on. I feel tp 4056 charging module has issue. It has short circuit protection could be the problem. have used with tp5100 it worked. Now my question do you have troubleshoot of your make. if so kindly share.
The project is nice but honestly I can't understand what the purpose of this gadget is ... Maybe power the router with the 18650 battery when there is no power from the mains? It would be better if the battery was recharged via the router's power supply and via a double exchange relay disconnected it and activated the booster.
How do you re charge the UPS?
I see problems / limitations with this little unit .
One18650 for storage isn't going to cut it with a modern router & it's a pass through UPS .
So output is limited by charging current .
The UPS output is 2 amp maximum but go over 3 W & you're discharging the battery .
My ISP's router requires 19 V & 1 amp so 19W ( it will run at 17V but not lower ) .
So this unit couldn't continuously power my router as a ups even when charging !
May run 10 - 14 minutes as a plug-in battery but that's not a UPS .

If possible, as you can see a booster module is used to take it to 12v, you only need another to put it at 9v, remember that this will also decrease the time that the battery charge lasts
