Why is Quebec allowed their own carbon tax that is waaaay lower then the rest of Canada!

Quebec have a cap-and-trade system with California that Ontario used to be a part of. If Ford didn't cancel Ontario’s partnership, they wouldn't be in the federal carbon pricing backstop program.
Not only did cancelling cap-and-trade, force Ontarians into the federal carbon backstop, this Ontario conservative government also ended up costing taxpayers dealing with litigation from cancelled contracts with green energy industry (former) partners and more taxpayers $ wasted on litigation against the federal government. 😒

Scientists found through ice samples taken from the artic that the carbon levels were 7000 parts per million 65 million years ago compared to 420ppm today. The only difference was 65 million years ago the world was almost entirely forested and teeming with life unlike today were there is vast deserts. Also scientists have claimed that if the c02 levels sink past 150 ppm life on earth will cease to exist.

@natrechapman1871 A simple google search will tell you how much a family of 4 in AB will receive in rebates. I'm not sure if it's $1800. The rebate is per household and it is paid out as a direct bank deposit every three months. You must have submitted your income tax returns so they know who you are. I would suggest you check your bank account for you and your spouse as only one of you will receive it and if you do receive about $1800 annually, that would be around $450 every 3 months....January, April, July, and October I believe. I receive about $200 or so every 3 months as a single person and my son receives about $800 annually.
My partner and I pay thousands in carbon tax and it’s trickle down effect on every product, I get $772 back in the year. Hardly three months of carbon tax on the AC unit during the summer.

The federal government does not keep a single penny of the Carbon Tax. It is all returned to the province it was collected in, 90% in the form of Carbon Tax rebates and the other 10% goes to funding Green projects.

Small business owner here in BC. Paid over $2000 a year for carbon tax before the increase. The alternative is switch a 12,000sqft warehouse to electric heat and solar.... Only costs over $200,000 to do it. No government subsidies or grants or interest free loans for doing this super important environmental switch. Been waiting for environmentalists to explain what to do here.. so far no one wants to explain it to me but I'm assuming I'm asking a question that isn't very beneficial to answer 😊

A freeze on all new taxes, a freeze on all new spending from our government until inflation is under control, interest rates are lowering and the budget is at least balanced. Our wonderful government offers everyone advice on how to run a family budget but never acts in kind. This is not that complicated…
The colossal historic economic damage Trudeau and his party has done to Canada and Canadians since elected in 2015, will not soon be forgotten. Before the pandemic, a former neighbour of mine and I were having a beer in my backyard, and I asked him what he thought of our PM Trudeau, and he surprising stated, look at that door knob, and I said yes so, and he stated I have more respect for that door knob, than Trudeau, and I asked why? he said that door knob provides a useful function! Fun fact for BC their rebate goes to ZERO if you make $61k or more per year as a single or ZERO if a family makes more than $100k. Know what the average family makes in BC per stats can? $102k so the average will get ZERO rebates and for singles the average salary is $54k so they will get about $50 per year. Also, when the say 8 of 10 "Canadian families" get more than they pay. They actually exclude BC, Quebec and NWT. The messaging I have seen now is those families in jurisdictions with a federal backstop. Which is still not true either but it is interesting the slight changing in word choice
