By that time the East India Company was gaining political power.Bahadur Shah was not a very ambitious ruler and thus the British understood that Bahadur Shah is not real threat to them.

Mugal empire was under Maratha army since 1757 and in 1795 british took the throne.After Aurngazeb many Mugal Kings were ,killed ,blinded ,like Farrukhasiyar ,shah alam,Muhammad Shah.They were not have any land or army.even his courteous started to said in 1772, सल्तनतें शाह आलम या दिल्ली ते पालम।
The Mughal empire lost power after the rule of Aurangzeb due to causing alot of atrocitis towards the non Muslim communities especially the Hindu community in India. The curse of the 10th Guru of Sikhism Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji after his 4 brave sons died in war against oppression of the Mughal Raj.

@@chengizkhan8741 The Mughal empire had weakened after Aurangzeb. The Marathas were the only empire who compromised with the Mughal empire. But then the British East India Company ruined everything in India. Lack of unity between the Hindu Muslim community.

If the armies of India from different states had united in the 1857 war of independence then history would have been different.
@@ajaybedi9488 Marathas didn't compromise with mughals🙂. They compromised on many occasions with east India company after Madhavrao peshwas death. 1st Anglo Maratha War and 2nd Anglo Maratha War shows it. The grand alliance of Maratha,Mysore,Nizam was good but Nizam turned neutral in the initial phase, leaving it to marathas to counter British in Northern and Central India, while down south it was upto Haider Ali to take the fight to the British. Tipu and Haider thrashed madras presidency so much that British were alarmed and shifted their focus from north to south. Sadly Mahadji compromised without Nana's consultation and ended the war with a treaty that put pressure on Mysore to stop fighting British. Imagine the foolishness when it was the only time when "British was khatrey mein Hain", and Marathas instead of continuing the war by aiding Mysore chose to stop it. These British would gain strength from this unwise decision and thrash marathas on 1803, 1813 & 1818.

Sorry to say. But this is truth
India became this kind of contitions because of Shivaji. People of india lives very peacefully under Mughals. There are no hindu -muslim difference. But Shivaji's religious fring made this. After maratas all princely states under Mughals made rebelions and start ruling independent and fight each other. British took advantage of this opportunity. Also in the mughal empire their are civil wars also.This made our country this kind of situations. When shivaji didn't born or when he didn't have this kind of religious fring India didn't become a British colony and mughals rule our India peacefully
