Love the show. I’ve sent this episode to my friends. I’m not sure she was the one represented in your caption, but that shouldn’t discount her contribution to keeping our nation safe. Grateful and thankful.
This is an excellent podcast and brought back old memories. In my consulting days in early 2000, I was working for a F100 medical device mfg on a Sales Force Automation project (now called CRM) and was asked to find a company that specialized in Competitive Intelligence to help my client find out why they were loosing so much business to a particular competitor. I already knew of a group of Navy Reserve Intelligence Officers in DC who had such a company and brought them in. All they really did was call senior staff at the other company, tell them they were doing a case study for another medical device company and wanted to know what made them tick. Those people sang like birds! They were so proud of what they did, they were happy to share the information with anyone who asked. A bit scary isn’t it?
Ego is a hell of a drug and some folks cant resist that drip. Had a journalism professor tell me once, and this guy had been in numerous pro sports locker-room's, political and big business settings and told me and the rest of the class NUMEROUS times, "people LOVE to talk, they love it, all you have to do is push that snowball down the hill and get your tablet/voice recorder device ready" and damn if he wasnt right. Even folks who are not ego-maniacal like to talk about themselves, its a human thing, and then you get the folks who couldnt shut up if they tried and for a journo, its wonderful, so much material.
Clear as ice...honest direct and full of humorist spice....thanks guys awesome lecture ! Thank you for your service..lesson learned ..one has to stay sharp.
just incredible channel, every episode I branch into all books guests touch on. Totally support this channel, and hope it inspires our duty motivated youth into US govt/military careers.
Wow, I saved this video to watch later and sorry I didn't watch sooner. I'm glad to hear a story from my old base; a.o. Glory/Mares & Diamondback/airfield. It's funny to think we could have crossed paths.
The DIA is one of the various DoD directed subordinate intelligence agencies that specifically supports the War Fighter. The DIA has two main internal offices/branches - DI and DO - Directorate for Intelligence Analysis and Directorate for Operations. DCS, DDS, JMAS, and several other offices fall under the DO's purview.
@The Gedunk and again, you're off topic... I never mentioned anything about "operational control," you did. Try to focus...again, this is my point...The top IC body that has oversight of all IC activities is the ODNI. After 9/11 the CIA, FBI and other IC agencies were not communicating with each other enough and refused to share critical information and therefore, the CIA was placed under and directed to report to the ODNI for the purposes of greater coordination across the IC enterprise. The CIA also falls under the direct control of the POTUS. The ODNI has oversight over ALL IC entities, and yes, the director of the CIA does report to a higher authority (ODNI/POTUS) - it is not an IC agency without oversight or operational parameters/jurisdictional limitations as you are trying to insinuate. Stop watching Jason Borne movies and Jack Ryan episodes and getting your information from Wikipedia and believing it. You're not cleared. You do not work in the IC as of today, nor did you ever, for that matter. Have a great day ass clown 🤡.
If we start cloning people we need more like this woman. What a impressive human being she is. Thanks to her and her family. Someone to emulate. I want my daughter to be like her. So cool.
First time watching your channel I like subbed and shared great job guys! Looking forward to listening in on a podcast format while at work. Shawnee.....Rock Star loved her story strong person loved her. Keep up the great work Gentlemen! Thanks!
Shawnee Delaney, thank you for your forthrightness. I thought you handled the political and misogynistic aspects of business beautifully. DIA was going to be my career progression before life had other plans.
Having been a retired law enforcement officer with 31yrs I have the utmost respect for our troops and veterans, that being said our Country is so damn corrupt from the head down how would any young person wanna join and put their lives on the line for what. I have many colleagues who are still working they cannot wait until they retire they are so fed up with the BULLSHIT
I can understand her Chief not wanting her to get hurt/abducted..... and I guess I'm even guilty of it myself :( We rolled with females in our unit everyday in OIF07/09 on Route Security/Convoy Security Roles. We wouldn't let our Females out of our sight because they couldn't even feel safe with our own and MST was quickly becoming a big deal. They would literally prefer to RON in our tents vs having their own because they knew we had their 6, we would escort them to DFAC or shower trailers just to make sure they felt safe.
@@jopainting1668 I'm sorry but that doesn't even make me one of the good guys....Just a Guy.... That isn't above and beyond, that is just the Standard.
Crazy history and career by her, American hero for sure. It just amazes me that they couldn’t just go find a single person from that sources area to translate better. How are you taking intel from someone over a long period of time and you can’t even understand him completely all while he is telling you where the most wanted person in the world is at? That doesn’t add up to me but who knows and especially if only 3 weeks later, they captured Geronimo, it’s probably because CIA already had the intel.
These two interviewers are mediocre. They did poor follow-up with Shawnee. (I scrolled forward when they talked to just hear Shawnee continue her testimony)...
Really? You can justify all the test standard lowering by one interview? You must be a smarter man than me, please explain this. Do you understand what our enemies can do when male soldiers are captured? You should watch the videos. Now imagine what they will do to women first.
As far as being the female CIA officer basically tasked with UBL exclusively and roughly portrayed in the movie? I think that was a different person, and funnily enough not a very attractive redhead lol... Welcome to Hollywood! Although I could always be mistaken... 😉
No. In this interview, she mentioned she missed out on finding UBL because her interpreter had a hard time understanding her source. If you Google "Maya's" real identity, her name is Alfreda.
I was a commo contractor for these people 2004 - 2009 in various Middle East countries. This lady speaks the truth. Great people, great memories.
Beautiful, Intelligent, Patriot we need more like her. Absolute badass.
Not really, shes war zone Barbie. Her words, not mine.

I worked with Shawnee during one of the deployments she describes. She is the real deal. Textbook example of a case officer.

I was in Mosul 05-06. Wild times!
Thank you, Shawnee and the Team House! Really enjoyed this fascinating episode!!
What a facinating woman. Thanks for sharing your story. I cant wait to see some of your work. You seem very well grounded.
I wonder if you can get anyone interesting from NGA. They were crucial in finding Osama.
just incredible channel, every episode I branch into all books guests touch on. Totally support this channel, and hope it inspires our duty motivated youth into US govt/military careers.
One of your best interviews. Thanks guys!
My grandmother spent 40+ years in the Dia she was a gs 13, was the last grade we found
Love how she effectively burns her sources, use and expose.
Shawnee true American hero!!
Great interview, great guest, interesting stuff, not too much info on DIA out there.

damn near 60' years old and still the least publicized and talked about of all of the alphabet agencies thank god for that
She is amazing! And I think it’s disgusting the way men have treated her. She should be treated as an equal. Period.
Great interview. I spent some time in some of those areas and it's nice to hear your points of view. Thanks

Sharon Houy and I used to ride the bus to work together back in the early 80's.

In other words the DIA is the Marine Corps of intelligence agencies
This comment made my day
More like the Coast Guard.

Awesome episode.
She’s a fanatic. You can see it in her eyes. Scary.

My new favorite channel!! These stories are amazing 👏
It’s an amazing story.
It’s not showing up in the video feed on the channel.
I think that’s because it was streamed unlisted 2 weeks ago.
Great interview! Very interesting!
She is a true patriot. Bravo Zulu.
Shawnee, you rock!
Outstanding
Bravissimo Ufficiale! Brava.
So true about being a blackman doing these jobs. I am an Islander and they all treated me nice.
They are a elite intelligence service for sure
Unfortunate that she had to say it, but at min 49 she nailed it on its head.
Heads up"you forgot to add this to your "ladies" Playlist.

Fabulous Warrior Princess, God Bless your effort.

Thanks
Aileene Buxton started as a Civil Air patrol nurse at 16 years old, she was a pilot in ww2
DIA is The US ARMY of intelligence Agencies!
The US ARMY Took Care of The European Assault in WWII! US ARMY Strong 💪!
SMART LADY
Holy shit I just looked up the average salary it's very very high
What pod does she keep referring to, anyone?
She's amazing!
Damn, I thought this stuff is classified.
Was told my NDA didn’t have an expiration date…ever!
I can understand her Chief not wanting her to get hurt/abducted..... and I guess I'm even guilty of it myself :(

Lara Croft eat your heart out!!!
awesome
Hell yeah!
What? We couldn't find him for 20 years. Iran had to tell us where he was, and it turned out to be the wrong guy.
It's UBL
You guys seriously uploaded over a minute of black dead screen instead of fixing it? Come on guys.
The CHU….home sweet home
DIA is God in DOD. If Lawler says yes. I am gonna listen. Excellent.....
42:30 I hi fived the screen on that one
She went to school to become a 🇺🇸🇺🇸 assassin on our team 👍👍👍👍
Those eyes 💓
Creepu
This may bé stuped but what IS the différence between CIA and DIA
TY👍
These two interviewers are mediocre. They did poor follow-up with Shawnee.
(I scrolled forward when they talked to just hear Shawnee continue her testimony)...
ive got a buddy whos DIA. hes still in, im sure he has plenty of crazy stories.
10:53 when you're so incredibly tone deaf you say something cring-worthy and still don't catch yourself on it.
Lighten up, Francis
Wait what was it that was tone deaf/cringe at 10:53 exactly?
She epitomizes why we need women in ALL roles. She is so self aware, and comfortable in her own skin. Outstanding.
Except combat.
All it takes to get them in ALL roles is to water down standards.
Go ruin your own military, after you get done enforcing pronoun usage that is.
Really? You can justify all the test standard lowering by one interview? You must be a smarter man than me, please explain this.

Yeah, dia is definitely nothing like CIA
❤ she is a pretty lady
"A Baghdad ten..." lol
If she had a source that knew where Bin Laden was, why wouldn’t she have him point to it on a map, get a different interpreter, or….? Sounds sketchy.
guess not
SOURCE OPERATIONS COURSE (SOC);
ADVANCED MILITARY SOURCE OPERATIONS COURSE (AMSOC).
For what was told to me by Nada, Delaney was put in the corner a lot. Plus, why is the current CIA recruitment ad so cringy?
Great! Now let's turn her on ANTIFA.
I can stare into Shawnee's eyes all day. Since my wife has green eyes I actually do!
Beautiful. Interesting. Intelligent. The most deadliest weapon on Earth. Redheads. 😂 Please don't hurt me. Just saying you are amazing.

No that was a CIA analyst. This gal was DIA and she was a case officer.
No
lol love how this never existed only for content
I’m sure she’s good at her job, but 10years to find the most wanted man in the world is not a high point for the intelligence services.

Is this "maya" ?
No. In this interview, she mentioned she missed out on finding UBL because her interpreter had a hard time understanding her source. If you Google "Maya's" real identity, her name is Alfreda.
Maya is a combination of several women
They'll never tell who "Maya" is/was, probably a combination of people.
She talks way too much out of school regarding sources and methods
lol
