Ever since people watched the finale of You season 2, I've been seeing some... double standards. Yes, Love being this psychopath suddenly WAS shocking. But I've seen people literally SIMPING for Joe Goldberg and tweeting about how they want him to kidnap them, and also at the same time, shitting on Love Quinn.
Like dude, they're the same. Just because you can hear Joe's internal monologue and not Love's does not mean Joe is forgivable and Love deserves to be crucified or something. I'm sure, if we could hear Love's monologue as well, we would side with her too.
Because this show is all about perspectives, and manipulating the audience. You have to try really hard to look outside Joe's perspective and instead analyse the situation non partially, neutrally, objectively. It's actually a test: will you allow yourself to be brainwashed by this hot guy or will you keep morality in mind?
Like I've literally heard one of my classmates say, "Candace cheated, so she deserved to be murdered." Like... HUH?!
And people say, Love's aggressive, she doesn't "plan her murders like Joe and suffers the consequences". AS IF THAT'S A BAD THING?! The fact that Joe plans out his murders just makes him more dangerous and psychopathic than Love can ever be! I rather think Love killing impulsively makes her a bit more human.
Anyway, I loved Love. She wasn't as terrible as Joe. Her killing Delilah and Natalie are the two murders I didn't support. Besides that, she was a cool, funny person with mental health issues who was obviously dealing with a lot. And for the first time, I had hope that SOMEONE is finally going to bring Joe down, match his game, give him what he deserves for all those merciless murders. If that had to be another psychopath, so be it.
Anddd she deserved better.
