James 3 years ago: "There's not a lot you can say about these things"
James 4 months ago: *makes a 4 episode long Moka pot series*
funny.
I must say that of all the many ways to make coffee, this is certainly one of them.
Yup... Yup...
*slurp*
That's a RUclips comment, alright...
🤣🤣🤣 truth teller you are..
Mokapots make amazing coffee. And you can take them camping and throw them right on the fire.
Man! What an exactly accurate youtube comment you have made there! Nailed it!
@@elvisisacorpse Oh hell ya! And easy to fix/replace if you accidentally burn/melt your handle (like my wife did lol). I use that or my titanium body french press when camping and both turn amazing results! Cheers to great coffee in the great outdoors, my friend!
The brewing montage at the end is hilarious.
I lost it when the screen transitionned to a widescreen ratio!
I never know there is one before seeing your comment..
“In tradition of RUclips, let’s finish this up with some unnecessarily cinematic shots of making coffee in a clear glass moka” 🤣🤣🤣 Just love James, his hair and his great sense of humor (besides the coffee inspiration) 👍👍👍
Hah, yeah, that hair. :D
Guy is almost my age, apparently, so I'm quite jealous. ;)
Really, I clicked for the hair, subbed for the coffee.
Absolutely 😂
"Cinematic shots" was good actually
Yea, I was digging it!
I thought it was actually pretty cool and lovely, especially giving the price
You meant "cinemetic shots were actually good !

Found your channel just a day or two ago; I have been binge watching for probably the last 5 hours.
It’s nearly 2am here but I desperately want to try and make _good_ coffee right now, now that I’m completely aware of all of the mistakes I’m making lol
@Alina RS damn I'm not alone!
Yes. He's turned me into a monster.
True story:
Me in bed at 3am: Watching James give coffee making pointers.
My wife rolling over: I love that you're learning to make us better coffee in the morning, but can we sleep now?
Me too
Ah yes, watching this at 2am wanting a good cup of coffee. Well it is soon morning so you might as well prepare for it
3:53 had me dying lol, the transition from the music to the actual sound
Ahahaha same, *EPIC MUSIC, somewhat interesting montage... slurp slurp slurp*
Wow your sense of humor is dog shit
@@Gallzatron
Who hurt you?
classic bathos
Lol it was cinematic diarrhea
I can't tell if he's 24 or 64
hahah
Joke is old and out of touch. Stop repeating someone’s else’s jokes
@@rumar4u Oh we're not joking.
@@rumar4u This was the first video of his i've ever seen soooo.... ain't no copying on this end ;)
Happy median. 44 maybe?
hahaha James! I absolutely love the unnecessary, slow mo, cinematic, youtube like video of making coffee! Please do more of that! and I can finally learn how to use mock pot properly - thanks for the link!
your sense of humor cracks me up every single time james
James, found your channel as I embarked in home brewing during these covid times. I must say I'm so impressed by your honesty, no "like and subscribe", no fluff. Straight to the content, you do seem hard to impress but it's nice to have honest opinions.
I didn’t realize that was you in that ChefSteps video, I had watched it years ago and have been using those techniques ever since. I was waiting for the ungrateful bit at the end and it totally paid off, thank you!
Your vocabulary is so on point! Whilst I myself forget so many basic day-to-day words, I still find it frustrating when a other RUclipsrs use imprecise terms as part of a review. For example I might not have known how to best describe the lack of quality when screwing and unscrewing that Moka Pot. But by you saying "The Threading . . . " and "basket lip" I know exactly what your talking about in a quick, concise manner. I think this is one of the secret ingredients to your wonder coffee video recipes if you excuse the poor analogy.
To be fair, that reverse time-lapse looked pretty cool :)
Known Unkowns For sure! Took me a sec to figure out what was goin’ on 👍🏼
I just bought your book and I wanted to thank you because the book's content is simply amazing.
Nice honest review this is why we subscribe ❤️
I have that moka pot. I love it. The glass is why i bought it. I love to watch the coffee come up into the pitcher.
I would really buy a similar one but well executed even if it was quite more expensive! Love my moka pot but don’t like the many nooks and crannies I cannot see and that I can’t be sure are really clean, with one of these I can be sure it is really clean and I like that. Thank you for the great video James!
"Cinematic brewing"!! What a perfect word to this!! 🤩
I stumbled upon your channel today. I think I've been watching your channel for 6 hours straight. Hope you are safe during the pandemic.
Clear glass is cool... Even though it's unnecessary but I find it very cute. Hope the coffee taste as good as its looks. 😁
"...on youtube reviewing stuff..." the "be" and "re" sort of came together and gave me an idea: when you review things for making coffee, you should call them brewiews
i think it needs to be brewviews... typed out it's a little off but fortunately bru-views is a normal-feeling pronunciation.
lol what a terrible word
@@Mr1121628 lmao
Im dying at home with hangover, but this video made me feel better. Thank you for this.
I like Mr. Hoffman’s informative, in-depth, clever, thoughtful videos.
This one was short and to-the-point. That’s good too. Nice video!
Every word uttered in this video was on point. Thanks, James.
"Melted some carpet onto that" love your sense of humor, thanks for the video!
OMFG that was YOU in chef steps!!!! I remember the steps I forgot who did them and I just assumed that it was from one of the guys over there. Thank you James.
I think I brewed the best cup of stovetop coffee I ever had after watching that video. However I did give up on that method once I figured it out with your instructions..
I essentially have one of these. It’s not a stove top, but electric. I love it so much!
Great editing as always James, I'd love to see more "cinematic shots" in your future videos!
This is exactly the kind of content I'm looking for
Liked just because the honesty cracked me up
Fantastic. I really appreciate your style and sincerity.
Next time: Making a Clear Coffee
@@jameshoffmann James, don't do it. You will break the universe as we know it:]
@@jameshoffmann Move it to the top immediately!
xc43t Already did pulling off that hair so well.
You could ferment it, and then distill it and it's technically coffee and it would be clear
That's just water with extra steps
"Unnecessarily Cinematic" is what RUclips is all about. Well done!
I could listen to him for hours about any topic ❤️
I love the honesty
Fresh fun "different" video. Thanks James!
I need this. Enjoyed watching this Moka pot in action.
Cinematic nerdiness with humour. ❤
fantastic. you are now officially my favorite person on youtube. I've been trolling you for weeks, but this takes the cake. must. leave. comment. with. oxford. periods.
Love the poster in the background!
I actually found you because of that chef steps video. I did get a cheap moka pot, but it's induction capable and doesn't have the flaws this one has
The foggy coffee splatter shot before the reality sound hit was a nice way to pull out of dreamy state.
I think siphon looks a lot cooler.
It looked pretty good imo short video straight to the point no BS, thanks James have my upvote buddy
Thank you for this. It was great. I was hoping you would have a taste and tell us how it brewed.
You taught me how to use my Moka Pot. I literally just used it, this algorithm is getting scary good
You've never had really awesome coffee until you have it brewed in a Moka pot. Mine isn't as pretty. But I love it! And it's cool that you look like a wizard! ☕♥️
Yo James, Great Video! You know, Bialetti makes a Moka Pot Model called the "Crystal" with a clear glass pot. The downside is that the tube is not see through, so you can't watch the coffee condensing. Also I'm not sure if it's easy to get ahold of that model. Still I've handled one in person and the glass was super durable, built like a tank. According to Amazon stats, it weighs like twice as much as the Geesta, so maybe a preferable alternative. In any case...Keep up the great content.
Best answer. I wanted to see if it would look cool !
Ahhhh Well it kept me entertained while brewing on my Moka pot 👍
I've been brewing coffee using my mokapot for almost a year now. It does look cool!!!
Very satisfying, I would watch coffee brew all day.
That was pretty cool actually! Maybe a little over the top, but cool! 😂
Those shots were pretty cool, so thank you for that!!!!!!!!!!
Woahh.. I got bialetti clear pot... White n red series... It is very cool to see the coffe erupted
I just watched four videos about coffee and this dude has been in three of them. Never heard of him before.
And yes, it does look cool.
What a legend
Which made me think of the nylon carpets in a hotel in Paris when I was a young teen. By the time that you had walked from one side of the reception to the other you had built up enough static to get a sharp static shock as soon as you touched the vending machine.
If you look back over the video your smile secretly says that you actually enjoyed that moka pot.
Didnt even put an affiliate link. You sir, are rare! Never miss yr video anymore. And never leave without like. LIKE!
Looked pretty cool to me 😁
Well, it is amazing what creativity (functional or not) can come up with. I think it was cool...same as the mokapot that brews directly to the cup, or other iterations, and there will be people buying it probably...but I still rather use a conventional mokapot, if I want mokapot coffee. And my preferred one is the Bialetti mini.
Loved your camera work and I love coffee = subscribed
The big attraction of a glass moka pot to me would be to allow me to brew with the lid on and still see when it's done brewing. Your footage dispelled that idea, saving me US$35. BTW, loved the backward footage. Very cinematic ;-) I appreciate subtle English humour.

I think i need this new toys as my christmast
I applaud you for making sure none of us impulse buy a glass Moka pot. I thought it would be cooler as well! Still, fun to watch, and the cinematic shots were great. Wonderful edit.
Look so COoooooooOoooooOoool!!!
Yes we all looked at this to see what goes on inside one didn't we. YES.
Now we know. 😃😃😃😃.
Thanks.
Well for someone who is curious to see how a glass moka pot would look like, this is a cool video. 👌🏼
i thought the music choice was off until i realized playback speed was 175%. ha! great video as always.
So good to be here
oh myyy gosh I watched the moka pot video loongggg time ago!!! just came to know your channel crew weeks agoo~~~
best monatge ever... :D great editing!
This was epic!
So you used a pan as an induction plate, nice
Loved it
very good,thank you!
I watched the chef steps video when it came out have watched a few of yours here and there, but never connected you as the same person! Just thought oh cool more coffee experts getting out spreading the word
the honesty in this review made it funny. hahaha
I just wanted to watch it blurble, so job well done! It's entertaining like a lava lamp~
Yes I'm with you .,... I was expecting more. Strange ! I don't feel the need to buy one though. So thank you ... You've saved me some money James 😂
Props for posting when it didn't turn out the way you hoped. Kinda like a blooper reel to help us appreciate all the work that goes into the successes and the failures.
It's cool! That's all that matters.
I have the Bialetti Brikka Moka Pot, and I find it way more cinematic to watch! Maybe a Brikka review/comparison or indeed a Moka Pot review across the whole range would be good.
They are such (potentially) beautiful and engaging little things to use.
I want to complement you on not constantly pushing affiliate links and sponsorship content. It's a refreshing breath of fresh air in today's trends. Here's to you!
Honestly in Italy we have had stuff like that going around for ages. I have one I bought 20years ago. They are cute and somewhat interesting for the first few times one uses them but never really take off because they arent as durable as a whole aluminium moka.
Also they tend to brew at lower temperatures (yes mokas can be engineered to brew at different temperatures depending on shape and dimensions of the funnel of the filter)
Me watching the unnecessary cinematic part: Oh yes! Yes! How gorgeous how.... What the hell ?!
I love your videos James! The serious and contemplative, and the silly and absurd! Keep it up. Ps: do you do your own editing? These have a wonderful sense of humour in them
The transitions were glorious
Needed this.
Cool enough to steal some of my morning minutes
It looked pretty cool to me, the widescreen effect was a hilarious but nice touch
That was silly. But absolutely crucial. Thanks JH
i love the "unnecessary cinematic shots"...and You know we like it!!!
So I just bought this Moka Pot a couple weeks ago, wouldn't consider myself a coffee *afficionado* but... I absolutely bought it for the novelty of seeing it brew through the globe. Doesn't seem to work half bad for me, but it *is* a bit prone to seal leaks.
Everything is better with a dub-step remix! 🤩
Cheers to you for avoiding the affiliate link mess!
What's so bad about them? If someone introduced a product to me, I wouldn't mind a portion of my purchase going to them
Still fun, thanks
Obviously just found you.... LOL... I think you did a GREAT job!!! It WAS cool to see how it came up the tube into the glass receptacle. Kudos! : ))
Would be interesting to see if the threading of the top part fits on a genuine Bialetti base so you would be able to enjoy a quality basket and maybe better results.
