- Giant swarms of fusilier and snapper, large groups of barracuda and sweetlips, plentiful anemone fishs, wobbegongs and critters like nudibranchs, crabs, shrimps and octopus. The northern part of Raja Ampat offers an astounding variety of marine life. Around the island of Pef we found many amazing dive sites with macro opportunities for nudibranchs, marine flatworms, shrimps, crabs, pygmy seahorse and many more. Further south in West-Mansuar we encountered huge groups of sweetlips and giant green turtles for which the area is famous for.
We spent 6 nights at the Raja4Divers Resort in January 2023. We would like to thank our amazing dive guide for the many incredible dives we did together.
For animal identification please refer to the video subtitles.
With best regards,
Sandra and Markus

Very nice video! Which camera do you use?
Were 6 nights enough at Raja4?
I really like the big school of little fish dancing around 17:00. It is amazing! What was the name of the dive site?
Thank you very much for your kind comment, appreciate it very much! Raja4Divers has a strict 7 days guest rotation with one fixed transfer day per week, so you either say 6 nights at the resort (the 7th night is usually in Sorong) or you have to stay 14 days. Overall this was three weeks trip that included 4 days at the beautiful Papua Paradise Eco resort on Batanta (see video here: ruclips.net/video/dlOpO1ikQ_8/видео.html ) and 9 days at the absolutely amazing Triton Bay dive resort (video here: ruclips.net/video/xmVHBBEFvTs/видео.html ). We use the OM-System OM-1 camera with the 12-50mm/43 macro lens in a Nauticam hausing. Regarding the dive site, that one is specific to Raja4Divers: Rep Yembraimuk. Please note that we were not impressed by the Raja4Divers resort (diving was excellent, but the resort was not up to standard) and checking for alternatives might be something to consider. Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus
@@SandraMarkusTrachsel If you need to be on a boat for 3h30 I totally understand why they have a fixed schedule. Thank you for telling me your thoughts about Raja4 divers. I asked for their rate and I found that they are pretty expensive. Cove Eco resort is less expensive but you have to take the ferry and they pick you up in Waisai.
I went to Triton bay dive resort in Jan-2024 because I love soft coral. I liked some dives (with soft corals, walking sharks, in the SE) but some others with mainly black coral not really. I have to say that one of the dive guide was not so good: I told him where to go o the dive site because I did it a few days before with another guide. I knew that the visibility would be low but I didn't realize that it would bother me like it did. I am jealous that you saw a couscous!
I always went on liveaboards in Raja4 and this time I am thinking of going to a resort to explore more in depth.
Your videos are really nice and have nice colors. I took my old GoPro7 and 2x7500 lumen but it is by far not the same...
Alles Gute und danke für die Antwort! Sylvie
Pleasure, ah, sorry, I forgot to mention that most of the wide angle action shots are with the gopro hero 11 black with two 2500 lumen torches. All the macros, close-ups and other wide angle are with the OM-System. If you watch the video you see my wifes rig and her filming wide angle shots and I also have a gopro hero 11 black attached to my rig as well. So for blue water wide angle action shots the gopro is really good. But not so for reef and close-ups, thats what I do with the big camera. Yes, R4D resort was a bit disappointing, especially considering the price but diving there was excellent, so its a mixed bag unfortunately. I hope you find the best solution for your next trip and wishing you all the best for it! Regarding the couscous, that was funny. We were already on the dive boat in our wet suit when they called for it and everybody runned back to their rooms to grab their cameras and try to get a picture of it. Jan2024 we were in Tufi and Tawali Resort in PNG and also there visibility was low, that video is about to come in May/June.
It is enjoyment to watch your video ! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!
