A short affair this last time, but the situationship went back 10 years. TTPD is mainly about Matt Healy. Not Jo. Many Swifties hated him, but I respect Taylor's choices. She took their relationship very seriously, but drugs and some other problems blew up the relationship.
I’m someone who’s been drawn to crazy men and thought everyone else was wrong…..they weren’t. She’s a human woman who went nuts over a bad guy. I relate! Love this song!
Like you said, she briefly dated someone who has an addiction problem, and like she said in "I can fix him (no really I can)" she couldn't. So this is about how she imagine him with other people, wondered if he would've been willing to change for her and their relationship, everything would've worked out. And at the same time, on the chorus she says "if you wanna break my heart tell me you loved me the way that(I was)", probably referring to the early years of that "decade that played them for fouls", and this new Taylor doesn't appeal his lifestyle, like she said in "The smallest man who ever lived", "it wasn't sexy once it wasn't forbidden". That's what I gather from it. Another one of my favorites, reminds me a lot to the folklemore era ❤
"If you want to break my 'cold cold heart', say that you loved me the way that I was"!...she changed for him!! Meanwhile, he then responds to "how you were before me".
It's about Mr Matty a.k.a The smallest man who ever lived. Apparently this person makes her go to every possible stage of grief, and big part ot this album Is about her dealing with that.
This song is about Matty Healy from the band 1975 Yes, he is addicted to drugs and that is what some of this song is about The title of the song is because he is bisexual so she could see him doing all of this with either gender hence the guy and girl names We also believe that she changed things during concerts to keep his attention with her saying I changed outfits and rules for you I can fix him I can is also about him and trying to fix his drug problem They dated long time ago in like 2015 too
I think the scarlet maroon was significant. That goes back to the All too Well. Song and short film about Jake Gyllenhaal, when she was 20-21, and he left her. He said it was her age, but he knew her age going in. The song says that she was waiting for him to say those words… that he loved her. But he never did. That’s one theory. Another theory is Harry Styles, because he is so open with his sexuality. She could see his out with both sexes. He also fits the scarlet maroon. Last theory Matty Healy- drug addict, I don’t know where he fits in the scarlet maroon. But he is open with both sexes. He made a point to her when they broke up by grabbing a man , I think one of the bodyguards and making out with him right after him and Taylor broke up then proceeded to apologize to Taylor on stage and kicked in the lights and acted a fool. His makeup looked like the joker. He left her. The smallest man is about him and a lot of songs are! He is in the band 1975.
Taylor doesn't really have anyone telling her "maybe that's not a great idea" anymore, so this is why we get titles like this. I don't think it fits at all because it doesn't even refer to the most important factor of the song and it sounds way too random. Pretty much any other lyric would do, something like "Will I Always Wonder" would probably work because it's a lyric in the song and is basically the whole point of the song. Regardless, this is one of my favourite songs on the album, vocals are nothing short of angelic, very beautiful production and the writing is amazing
I think you are thinking of Ariana Grande. Mac Miller was addicted to drugs and became ever more addicted after she dumped him and his fans blamed him for getting addicted but she spoke out and said why they are not holding him accountable and that she couldn’t be with someone who is addicted to them just a brief summary

It was about Matty kissing men and women at his shows... Matty was a drug addict years back but he drinks like a fish. he was a rebound.
He was also a racist.
