I tried this mod, and I can say that I can enjoy low frequencies at lower volumes and don't have to open the volume too much. 40hz tried and tested. Thanks a lot!
So good to know. I'm going to try it. I've got Tribit and JBL Boombox 2. Tribit has nowhere near the level of deep bass as the JBL. Hoping this mod will bring the Tribit closer to the sound I want. Will report back!
I came to thank you, I bought the piece and it removed the distortions in songs with very low sub-bass, in addition to adding harmony to the sound. I bought 4 pieces, but I'm only using 2 and that's enough.
Not sure. Over-excursion happened with the stock tuning. I have tried it with freqency generator and it does not reach the xmax of the drivers so it is even less harmful then it was.
I just bought 4 of those, but upon weighing, mine is 25gr instead of 18gr, so I should just use one on each side? If only using one I should stick it on the center (on tribit logo) otherwise it will be unbalanced?
Thanks for the video, I'll buy it and test it. On my Tribit I normally use an external EQ and increase the Subbass. But I also notice distortions when the music oscillates between Sub-bass of -40hz to upper bass. Tends to make an annoying noise. Have you ever thought about using 3 of these supports instead of 2? How many grams will be in these supports?
I think that one on each side is enough. It improves a lot but two gets you tuning of around 38Hz. There is a Low-Cut under 30. The amplifier does not give signal to the speakers so This may be the sweet spot. Most music is not mixed down under 30Hz
i have a mifa wildbox, speakers does sound overdriving at higher volumes with basskick, i notice a soft suspension from the passive radiators perhaps similar to the og motion boom which seems quite good, but with all the distortion would adding weight to it help solve the issue?
Great, but there could be a before and after comparison of the upgrade. And when capturing, you don't notice any distortions in this box. Do you have a link to the magnetic supports used?
Hi, sorry for no comparison but the glue is strong so it is hard to take off-a good thing so it does not fly off. It improves the distortion in some songs. Some songs do not distort. Anyway it makes it sound better with deeper bass. There is still some distortion but the improvement is huge when playing bassy music. vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005003176227244.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.40.20d41802w2HtgN&gatewayAdapt=glo2vnm
so the weight will restrict/reduce the movement of the passive radiators so they vibrate less? I found that when cranking up the bass, the speaker gave nasty unwanted rumbles, so as a basshead. I did something I thought I would never do, reduce bass on the eq 😂
@@matus3303 will this mod reduce rumble/echo/vibration/boomy of the bass? I think I pefer what audio crowd call tight bass. I achieve this now by setting the low frequency to 0 or -1 on EQ (still can't decide)
I heard that actually it is better the weight to be on the speaker cone itself, but your idea is nice too. What about the midbass? Does it sound thinner and less punchy? Any differences in sound, except the lower freq response?
I doubt it would be fine for the speaker. sticking the weight may damage the speaker and it would sound very different all the parameters would change. Sounds same just deeper bass. Tuning the bass radiators does not change the woofer parameters
Everything moves as it did it just changes the tuning of the passive radiators to a lower frequency and that means the woofers are not so stressed like with the original tuning frequency
@@matus3303thank you sir! I was also wondering if I can use a diffferent type of material to stick on it, instead of the magnetic phone holder. @@sf49erswarriorsgiantsgumba99 The magnetic phone holders weigh 18grams each so 36grams at each side. it does not matter what material you use but use something at least 15 grams to 40 grams and you should be good
One more question my friend, when adding these extra weights, you gain a response at low frequencies, right? But at higher frequencies does your box lose SPL as happens in boxes with a lot of weight on passive radiators?
Hi, even one on each side is enough. I bought these for an ipad for my car so I had 4. Ipad did not hold so I used them on this. You can cover the tribit logo almost perfectly with one if that helps

I know. The speaker is overloading even with -6db in some songs so the EQ is not the problem. After this mod it does not distort as much even with +6db. I doubt anyone uses this speaker for serious listening anyway. If you have any idea how EQ works if you lower the gain by 6db and add 6db at 50hz it is not going to overload. Lowering the tuning point of the passive radiators can cause damage to the drivers if not done correctly
