Great video. At least on the Mac and Linux if you find yourself with basic command line understanding you don't have to pay a dime. For Mac, brew has all you need. It's super easy. Using ubuntu you can apt-get the heck of it.
You are the best! Thanks for the video! Such a big chunk of info in just 14mins! Testing it right away even 4 years later. Super clear explanation! >>> Just to complement, the video, As some of the other comments said, this is not a FREE unlimited storage. All aws services has a fee (Only 5 GB are free) then we have to pay for it and it willl be deducted directly from our credit card used when creating our aws account. But the average amount to pay for 4TB stored there will be around 50 usd a year, maybe less if you use a to upload the biggest chunk Could you tell me if that numbers are correct? Or based on your experience and the storage you are using in the cloud, how much do you pay?
Very nice and informative video but it is not cheap by any means. Not sure who is the target audience though It's clearly not meant for regular homeuser folks. The costs are amounting to a nice chunk of change If you add to the overall storage cost the egress charges ... I guess it is a safe and nice alternative for whoever can afford it . But nice video regardless :)
Hi Tristan. I'm using Cloud Mounter for my Macbook Pro. I'm trying to follow your steps, but I'm stuck. I've mounted CloudMounter, but when I put files into the S3 Drive, it take memory/space away from my actual hard drive on my desktop. What am I doing wrong? Please help!
Thanks for this. Quite a useful and interesting video. Is S3 storage more economical in the long run? I checked the AWS pricing calculator and it's overwhelming for someone like me. The reason I ask is that, i'm currently paying for a lot of cloud storage and I'm looking for something that I can hold on to for a long time. I currently have lifetime storage for pCloud (2TB) and IceDrive (5TB) and yearly iDrive (10TB). Thanks.
Nice video. My Management Console looks different than yours. The create Bucket button is on the right in Orange. Any idea how to update the Console View? It would be easier to follow along.
@@tristanbolton Right. For 128TB - Quote: "Standard would be about $3230 USD and S3 Glacier would be $525/month USD" and AWS S3 Calculator is not easy for non-IT people. 👎
I'm working on enterprise s3 mounting to windows. The enterprise is going to likely be against a third party tool like cloud berry. Linux mounts are easy, but windows not so much
Every enterprise has different rules on security when it comes to public clouds. Most enterprises wouldn't typically let you create IAM secrets if they are using modern and federated security. Using an aws cli is and command line for syncing directories will likely be the best case scenario in an enterprise environment.
Depends on a what tier storage you choose and location. Standard would be about $3230 USD and S3 Glacier would be $525/month USD. You can use their calculator below if you want to see what they charge. calculator.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html Note: the amounts above are just estimates
absolute clickbate! who would even use 8petabytes, still who would use 128tb? not personal users. After going to the calculator it still costs $104 per month for 25tb to backup my nas. useless pricing! I am still, now, on the search for a sensibly priced cloud backup solution :(
These videos are very VERY helpful. You've managed to pack a nice amount of information in each video. Thanks for creating these!
Great video Tristan ! Thank you for creating this video on S3 and mounting locally on your PC.
Great video. At least on the Mac and Linux if you find yourself with basic command line understanding you don't have to pay a dime. For Mac, brew has all you need. It's super easy. Using ubuntu you can apt-get the heck of it.
Thanks! I ended up using S3 Drive rather than Cloudberry as the desktop app, but the steps were the same. Very helpful video.
Can I access this drive from my mobile?
Lovely. I use fuse's s3fs. There's a bit of noticeable lag when operating between Europ and Asia but workable.
Thanks Tristan - much appreciated.

Great video! Is it possible to attach an S3 storage of just 500GB or any amount, but which is not in the terabits?
Great. I would like to see the Mac version of that tutorial. Also, could we play video clip on S3 via a MAC?
Question - What happens when the Trial version of cloudberry ends?
Does the drive disappear as well?
It does look like the drive disappears from the local machine

I'm using S3 to store my webinar video, so have it as public access. Other buckets are private. What security measures do you suggest?
Thanks for the video!
What does the "Use S3 Accelerate" button do on the mapper drive options
Nice video. My Management Console looks different than yours. The create Bucket button is on the right in Orange. Any idea how to update the Console View? It would be easier to follow along.
Thanks Tristan.
hi Tristan. you configured 128TB. how can i configure only 30TB S3 storage?
Hi thanks for this. can i ask if the s3 is monthly cost or per GB?
Yes, you can google AWS S3 calculator and enter your storage needs to spit out a price.
It's a very cheap storage solution.

Fantastic video, thanks! Do you know by chance what IAM policy to use to only allow S3 uploads without listing the files there?
I use rclone for that in combination with S3. I switched everything from Google Cloud to AWS after Unlimited Storage has been removed
Great video!!
Excellent video!
Great video. I appreciate it.
what the different if use google drive with rclone?
The only issue here is put and get request bills other then s3 is great in my case
Got half way through only to discover Cloudberry Drive for Mac isn't available. Alternative?
Windows, Linux :p
How much time it takes to transfer 4K video to the drive
İt's is Free or should be pay?
Any idea if I can access these files from android or iPhone?

How much does amazon charges for 128 TB ?

Does we could install game or software
No way
Can I have just one user and mount in lets say 3 computers for example
You could do that, as long as it's only one user and the files are closed off.
great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Very helpful video, thank you!
How do I handle unlimited bandwidth?
liked and subed. wow
You need unlimited money to get unlimited storage but you know, details…
Good stuff
Appreciate it
