Just discovered you now when I just got a BA job straight out of college! Just wanted to let you know that you're doing an awesome job by doing this. :)
Our minds work like a CPU(s) in a computer. All unfinished tasks clog the CPU. The reason we do business process analysis is to discover important/natural regularly occuring break-finish points. When we reach such a break point we feel positive, happy, joyful etc. Alternatively, when those points are not clearly defined we feel lost, like driving on a road with no lanes. If others want our attention, unless emergency, they should put a Post-it note: "Thank you for completing this task. Join me to celebrate and let's get some fresh air". From this simple idea the world's challenges heal themselves.
So far, I've watched 7 of your videos. Couldn't be more pleased with the information. I feel more prepared for my first business position. I was previously in the military and education, so while have a lot of these prerequisite skills, I needed something to bring it all together. Thank you!
You are so welcome! We're glad to hear the videos are helping you prepare for your first role. Also be sure to check out the Quick Start to Success workshop, as Laura goes deeper into some important aspects of the career that are extremely relevant to starting a new BA position: www.bridging-the-gap.com/quick
My last interview I answered some questions in a straight forward way based on experience then they asked some questions about things I hadnt done before and all I could do was talk about it in terms of textbook theory. Well they could tell I was making it up from theory but I just kept on going as I had no other choice ! Anyway luckily I still got the job ! Lol.
Congratulations! And thanks for sharing your experience. The most important thing is to be honest and transparent - while still presenting your skills, knowledge, and experience in the best possible light!
Of all my technical skill, the interview process for my first BA role was almost entirely on communication and problem solving ability/critical thinking.
@@BridgingtheGapBA It was a welcome surprise! Made accepting the role much easier as it was more aligned with what I felt were my intangibles. Thanks for the content, as always!
@@BridgingtheGapBA Yes, my resume is fine which is why I've been getting requests but it just hit me that although I'm giving the "right" answers, as you said it doesnt read as credible unless I add real actual experience. le sigh...lol
Informative presentation, thank you Laura. A couple times in the video you mentioned including links in the text below, but I see none in the RUclips description.
@@BridgingtheGapBA ohh is it ...I am feeling confident now that I can also do it. I already went through all you BA videos and found it really helpful. Could you please help me with the initial steps of transitioning into a BA role. Currently I am having 3.3 years of experience in QA and working with Mobiquity India as a QA Engineer. What should be my initial steps?
Also can I connect with you through email or Whatapp? I really need proper guidance from a knowledgable individual like you for transitioning my career from a QA role to BA role

Hi mam, My name is Nikhil, I'm from India. I want you to tell me a good book that I can use to begin my carrier as BA. I am an enginering graduate and want to get into BA job profile. so Please suggest me a beginning book so I can learn things step by step. Thank you
@@BridgingtheGapBA I have NO idea. It was an internal interview where I know the interviewer well. I prepared well, but I wasn't asked any questions besides how much programming I knew. A lot of the interviewer talking about the role and what they expect. I do know the interviewer well and work closely every day with the team for the last 6 years, but no questions didn't ask about my certifications or anything. Have you experienced this?
@@cu806 It sounds like perhaps this was for more of a technical role, than a business analyst role. Some interviewers also just don't know how to interview, and it could be important to riff off of their descriptions of expectations to speak to your experience and qualifications, and how you could fulfill those.
Truth is, business analysis is a mindset, and there's no interview questions that matter more than, what's your pay expectations? Keep them low and you'll land yourself a job
Laura your secret about looking into a linked profile of a BA analyst is not your idea alone. I and my friends have been doing that for a long time. This has helped me to figure out what kind of a BA, I want to be and to see what kind of challenges other people have faced.

Really helpful tips, I believe where I’ve been going wrong is giving text book answers without supplementing it with my real work experience 😞
