High frets are actually the sweet spot for most of the guitar's strings. Maybe except the low E string, which is the only one sounding decently good in low positions. Mandolin uses the same string gauges while being half as short, so placing a capo on such a high fret is an idea MUCH BETTER than you think!
I figured out if you capo the twelfth fret of an electric twelve string it sounds really close to a mandolin...and not upside down. For recording. I bought a really nice mandolin, and i just could not 'get it'. And no snarky mandolinist
@@lurk7967 I don't find anything odd with it.. it's all about tension and release, or rather dissonance and consonance. It may sound different to the average person's ear because they are used to hearing the same chord progressions in most every song they hear. I'd recommend looking into Double Harmonic Major voicings along with tri-tone subs.. those along with the lydian mode are my favourite sounds in music
Weird that you mention Jethro Tull. I saw Uriah Heep open for Tull & the bassist's fingers were just like this dude's. Could cover half the fretboard with his fingers.

I replayed this video maybe almost 20 times. The melody that you play is very beautiful almost makes my cried because somehow suddenly I think about this life.
Helpful tip: you can pluck with thumb and with same hand,use your finger to find the harmonics. While barely touching the string with your finger at the same time as you pluck with your thumb. You can also help practice muting strings with your palm all at the same time.

You just made me reminisce back on my younger days in the 1960's and 1970's when I played as an amateur, and eventually had the opportunity to play professionally in music groups. I still have my handmade-handcrafted acoustic twelve steel string Alvarez Yairi on which I performed the same thing. The sound is even more angelical. Especially when filtered through a wah-sound, a flanger, an echo, a reverb, and an octaver on a Fender tube amplifier. Never give up playing to your heart's content.
I like playing with a capo on 5 or 7. There’s something kinda magical when you shorten the scale length. The action is buttery and the strings are more responsive.
This brought a tear to my eye. What an amazing piece, it reminds me of when I used to play in the snow as a kid after a snow storm. You are incredibly talented and I aspire to be at your level some day. I’ve been playing for 5 years and I’m always learning. Thank you and god bless.🙏

Great song and wonderful sound from your acoustic. I've experimented quite a bit with capo lately, and it definitely leads to new songs. Just randomly put it on a fret, and see what melodies come out.

You may want to tune the guitar a whole step down so that you don't break the guitar or the strings. So tune your E string to C or 4 frets down. Then start from there and tune the rest of the strings. Then adjust the capo accordingly to the 10th fret or less to match the video..

@@darcie7773 Oh, okay. Thanks for telling me. So it's like when I play the piano and place my hand on a different octave? The notes technically remain the same but I switched the octave in which I play them?
@@Meeko4eve39 actually only the "empty" strings (played without gripping the strings with his left hand) become higher. this allows to play easy chords (open chords) 11 frets (11 half note steps) higher. so basically playing a song with capo transposes the song to (in this case) 11 half note steps higher.

I really like high frets, it gives such a different sound.
The only problem is it drastically reduces your options as 3/4 of the neck is out of use.
Use a Martin SCe-13, then it's only half of the neck not in use. I normally prefer Taylors, but I've fallen in love with that martin model

The cappo is the thing he put on the guitar before he started to play. The further up you put it on the guitar the higher the notes become
