Another tip might be to use JPG or WEBP format for photographic images that don't need transparency. It's a good likelihood that the image will compress smaller and load faster than PNG.
Hi Dani, I know my comment has nothing to do with this video... But can you please advice me what to do? I just found out that Atom is retiring... I love Atom and I'm so sad about it😭 What editor do you reccomend me to use in the future? Should I continue my recent (PHP) project in Atom? Or should I start learning working with another editor ASAP?
I am personally using Visual Studio Code, and if you ask online then most people will recommend that one too. 🙂 Atom will still work as an editor, but since it is being retired I would switch.
somehow this doesn't work for me at all. Even without the body:after solution, the facebook icon does not flicker when hovered over the first time, but the instagram icon does and I also used a black and white and colored version of my logo at the left side of the screen. this one also flickers. And when I use the body:after solution the result is the same. The facebook icon works fine but the other 2 still don't. I also read somewhere that the Content: property only supports one url() and not multiple? Not sure if that is correct. I also tried pre-loading my 3 images in the like this: But that also didn't seem to have any effect. Does anyone know any solution to this problem? Thanks in advance!
Why can you set the file path of the image in the HTML and also in the CSS code? Could you explain the difference when and where it makes sense to set the path? Thanks in advance!
That’s possibly a good solution depending on what you’re loading…and how much data etc. You could use a link rel="prefetch" to get the images before the css link is even called. But then there’s the safari issue. 🙃
@@badcatdesign Regardless of the flickering problem described here. You can embed images using only HTML (with the img tag) or you can use the div tag with reference to a class and set a background image in the class via CSS. Result will be the same, right? This is confusing me right now, I don't know why... :D
@@Dani_Krossing Yeah, I've seen all the lessons of the course so far. My bad, I was obviously mentally somewhere else when you brought that up. Just watched the video again and was enlightened. Sorry! Another great course by the way, I like the way you explain things! 😉

In the new HTML course I have just started on my channel, I have a “image lesson” that talks about this in detail. 🙂
