I feel that if they make it so the Trickster puts on Debilitations Like WET, POISON and So on it would be better. like the Fake Walls and Floors Explode they make more Cloud Clones OR do Debilitations to the Enemy close to it. same thing if they kill your Cloud Clone.
You can actually run a variety of different skills depending on your pawns. The Dividers are useful for when you are running multiple casters as you can aggro and then "hide" them behind the walls. You can use Vistant to get melee mobs to sit in one spot for warriors and fighters by having your clone sit in the air just out of reach. Trickster also benefits from using Tomes to supplement damage. The vocation is lacking, but there is no one singular loadout for it. Because the types of pawns you have ARE apart of that loadout.
@@millermcgraw1 same, meh lol. On wayfarer just use tricksters pawn aoe dmg buff (only good thing imo) with lifeleech arrows from magic archer after lol.
What would have made this vocation incredible is if it could inflict some of the debilitations that were there in the first game but not present or exclusive in this game - Torpor, Blindness, Curse, Silence, Petrify, are some very powerful, zero damage, de-buffs that you can inflict on enemies to make fights much easier in the first game. But in this game they are just absent. And with a little bit of quality of Life stuff like the ones you mentioned, this Vocation would be as incredible as the others. And for anyone wondering, I am perfectly ok with not doing any damage. Worst case scenario, we can always unequip our weapon and punch things to death. Anyone who has fought golems as a mage will understand 😅
All Trickster needed at the least "some" form of damage. DoT would have been the perfect form for this class, just a few seconds of ticks. Because in an action RPG, as a main player (w/o a co-op), being a support character take you out of the said action. Pair that with extremely situational use of any skills (beside the buff one) this class becomes chore to play and level up with.
I feel like Trickster can take some inspiration from the Warframe Harrow, which also uses this kind of weapon. Harrow has a skill that binds enemies and exposes their weak spots, which would fit imo. Also, why not be able to dish out debilitations?
I like Trickster as a concept, and when used correctly it makes the game feel like easy mode (since your pawns end up doing all the work for you) but I do wish they had a wider variety of skills. So many of the skills Trickster has are just "what if Trickster's base kit was functional" which really sucks. Even without a way to directly damage enemies, it would have been nice to debuff the damage of enemies, or maybe have some way to slow them down (like using the Rusted Bow in DD1). Just something beyond the gimmick of drawing aggro to your simulacrum would be nice. Hoping we'll see that if we ever get an expansion to this game.
I mean I can understand why people hate this class, and why they would say it’s the worst in the game, but I love it. People really just hate it because of three main reasons. It doesn’t so damage, it makes you have to think strategically in combat, or that it’s “boring”. Of course, these are all valid opinions to have, but here’s my problem, the community is trying to make this vocation seem worse then it is. Here’s mainly what I see:People only pointing out the negatives of the trickster, People trying to turn their opinions such as “It’s the worse class in the game!” Or “Nobody should like this class!” Into actual facts, and finally, I always see people comment on trickster videos about mystic spearhand, trying to draw away attention from trickster, and project it onto mystic spearhand, so they can switch their preferences. While I also love mystic spearhand, and think it’s a really cool vocation, I hate when I see people do this, and I would feel the same way if it was trickster taking attention away from mystic spearhand. All classes are cool guys. Please don’t make it seem like they’re not.
Like your description of Binding Effigy, "neat and situational" is about the best way to summarize Trickster as a whole (aside from the OP Aromatic Resurgence, I guess). It's a clever idea and occasionally useful, but nowhere near as much simple utility as using one of the many other powerful classes to attack enemies directly. After the novelty wears off, why go through the hassle of making enemies attack each other or using a ghost image of myself to trick them into walking onto a false floor when I can simply obliterate them myself much more quickly with my greatsword or magic bow? It's reminiscent of Just Cause 4, where the game was like "look at all this tether combinations you can use to defeat enemies!" and I was like "yes, or I could just shoot them with my gun."
Trickster use smoke... So all i could think of that would be cool, is anything that could be a cloud, should be, poison, smokescreen, anything thats a gas, anything that can become gas, mist, sleeping gas, blinding gas, gasoline that could catch enemies on fire... The ultimate should be that you could create an simulacrum, that imitates your enemies, for example, create an mimic, like, for example, a dragon... Or create an army of smoke soldiers that fight for you... Sky is the limit, too bad they made it too grounded...
Cloning enemies is a really cool idea. Even allowing you to then control that clone for a limited time. Maybe while your character meditates or something having his mind leave into the simulacrum itself.
I put up 2 walls on both sides of a griffin once and I don't know why but it just freaked out and would not move just jumping around like a pawn was on it but there wasn't one on it because I had no pawns at the time
I would get three thief pawns and play a warfarer with Aromatic Resurgence, Recovery Arrow for healing, and Soporific Arrow for stun/free damage windows. Melts absolutely everything, plus a ton of free loot from all of the thief plunder skills haha
I can see why people consider it boring, because it's too strong for too little effort. You can just have 3 sorcerers with meteor or tornado & they can safely spam them while you draw all the aggros. If thief is easy mode then trickster is super easy mode. I like it because it's a very unique class though. It asks the player to be more creative.
I was excited about the trickster vocation but I don’t love it. I still build it up a bit until I get the skill that reduces the likelihood of being attacked in camp or on the road. Best part about the trickster vocation is that the vocation-exclusive armor is beautiful.
I tried playing Trickster like you're supposed to, aka aggro build with nuke pawns. Then at like rank 6 I just realized that sprinting around doing nothing with an aggro build achieves the exact same thing. It's even arguably safer since you're never locked in animation.
Some of the skills could be better or outright replaced like the alarum. But I am one of the few people who have fun with the class. My favorite thing is confusing the enemies by moving and healing my decoy. Harpies I haven't seen go through my walls, though having a sorcerer pawn who's favorite spell is maelstrom, they don't get a chance 😂. The floors are fun for tripping enemies, mostly small, but have tripped cyclops and ogres with it. Mixed results with ogres as they hop around more than run when battle is on. Trickster is a very strategy oriented class that can feel pretty braindead as only 4 skills matter. Though not as braindead as sorcerer augeral flare delete boss strategy. I do wish Trickster could do debuffs, cause who doesn't feel bad breathing in the wrong smoke? And I don't see why not give Trickster sleep in a wider area or even silence for that matter
After these months I can see that this class had potential... but I can´t find enough people liking it in order to justify the existence of this class instead of the classic Knight Enchanter and Asssassin classes from the OG DD, or even new classes as Healer, Necromancer or something enetirely different and original. I´ve recently started to play this game for the first time, and, as a veteran of the first game, I still can´t find this class appealing to me. I´m currently leveling up every other class rank from the list and avoiding as much my time to become a trickster. Wish me luck lol.
Trickster is OP. Gas the enemies and buff your allies. Watch your pawns shred the shit out of Drakes while your simulacrum takes all the aggro. They’ll drop enemies faster than even you could as a Thief or Sorcerer. Use the augments that benefit pawns. The vocation is spectacle for passive players. I think it’s great.
My only issue with Trickster is in a lot of scenarios you fully require your team to kill everything for you. While the Ai of your pawns is good its not always perfect and cant plan out things like a real person could. Id bet trickster would be a lot more popular if the game was coop and you could rely on your friends to kill the stuff you aggro.
I've seen the wall used much better to deter enemies to attack your pawns, if you got 2 sorc pawns you can put them behind the wall and they can cast with impunity. All the while you run around gathering attention using your Simulacrum. Trickster plays like fighter in that you're an attention grabber. Fighter has damage obviously the trickster doesn't. But the trickster has literal on demand agro retention and agro redirection, using their Sim.
The dragon should do damage, there should be debilitating abilities to trickster, and the wall should block enemies and allow you or your allies passage. All these things would make the trickster massively more fun to play. Edit: A fog cloud that reflects magic and even the medusa glare. That'd be awesome!

When used properly trickster is op
You and your squad can delete everything with taking any damage
yeah when i saw the video using a fighter and a warrior with trickster i knew he was going to hate Trickster, like it's tailor made to run with Sorcerers
I love this vocation
Worsy vocation ever. I'll never use it. They replaced mystic knight with that.
Trickster should be an hybrid about thief an mage rather tan this shitty class.
Dude is showing how he forced dragon to commit suicide with full health and after that he said that this skill ( and character) sucks - that's typical hater 😂
Well tricking an AI into dying on its own is not engaging gameplay. Also, when the AI is already able to do that without this class its not interesting in the least. More more than welcome to like Trickster. Calling me a hater is no an insult because ya I don't like this class and I don't have to.
You dont get its aoe aggro skill Suffocating Shroud until Rank 4 too 🫠
i ranked up mines mostly via Wayfarer cuz fuck that.
While not wrong that you don't get Suffocating shroud until rank 4, that's the UPGRADED version, your start the class with the regular version that works just fine.
@@LuckyUnlucky2 same difference, i dont remember the regular version name lol
@@HyouVizer In that case you start out with the skill, no need to wait till rank 4 just to make it a little bit better
