OMG!!!!! I virtually grew up next to that pond - spent countless hours learning to fish with my teen mates there in the seventies. It was a cesspool at the time as many then factories used it as a drain, with regular fishkills. Only good for mullet. So good to see it has bounced back
When a diehard fisherman catches a dream fish like that, and the smile on his face. Makes all the worries of the World just subside for a time. Nothing like that big fish feeling! Well done Mick!
What a beauty, awesome fish champion, its amazing how much safer you feel with 8 lb leader tied on, when you hook a big fish, especially around structure, well done mate,
@@flickwithmick indeed, almost identical to a nipper, it’s is so close a replica that the fish are none the wiser. Small things that make a big difference in most other lures is, they lack the realistic appearance. 🤣
Always enjoy your videos Mick. I'm still yet to crack a 40 cm bream I've had multiple 39's but the 40 still eludes me. Can I ask what is the weight rating of your rod?
used to be some huge bream in swan river in WA every weekend me and a mate would chill with a few beers, before this fishing licence stuff but they were slowly fencing off areas gradually for bush re gen etc or labeling it under national parks,
The Swan wasn't really affected by people/overfishing or anything, more pollution/farming and modification of the river banks and flood plains, in tern changing the water chemistry and over time changing the dominant food sources. The bream are now having to eat less alternative sources, largely algae and baitfish, which has essentially forced them to slowly start stunting (compared to the rapid growing supersized giants they used to be in the Swan 30/40 years ago), they can still grow very large there but it takes a lot longer now unfortunately.
@@cozab5487 this for myself was around 25 to 30 years ago I kinda miss it in NSW now. Nice info thanks my memory is kinda stretched about the areas now 👍
I really need to catch a bream, but they're notoriously hard to catch! I went and got the new Daiwa double clutch and all its gotten me is salmon and flatties. But no bream!!
Once you catch a few youll defs figure them out 👌🏼, i started off using some grub soft plastics on 1/16th jigheads and just casting at edges on a high tide. Use some scent too always helps!
My pb is a 44 cm Yellowfin, that fateful evening I got 4 in 30 minutes, testing and old theory that involved the tide, the moon, and the time. 39cm 41cm 43cm then the 44.
My spot for more 25 years. Many times this spot poisoned by contaminated staff. Many yers ago that’s spot we are catch frequently bream from 1,5 kg to 2 kg. Now only some time catch bream around one kg.
Hey andrew I try not to name locations, i think footage is enough to give anglers an idea, but i try to not actually name spots. Hope you understand where im coming from ✌️

Don’t eat anything from the Cook, Georges or Parramatta river it’s contaminated with metals but never stop fishing 😊

Biggest I've seen in person was a 48 cm, it looked like a snapper. Great fish!. It's no Yellowfin but still awesome.
