I loved watching both of your reactions to Not to touch the earth" it's one of my favorites it's so wild!! Jim was really into mythology. metaphors and "reptiles"...hence "the lizard Kind".."Dead presidents corpse in the drivers car" lyric is in reference to the Kennedy assassination". The engine running on glue and tar can also be looked at as our country running on oil. Those things are derived from oil and that's the engine of our country.

There actually is a 17 minute song which included Not To Touch The Earth, it is Celebration Of The Lizard which is on the Doors album Absolutely Live.
No other band, at that time, had to balls to create a song like ‘Not To Touch The Earth’. The Doors were way ahead of their time.
