True story.. My friend and I met this guy on the bus & for the whole ride he talked to us about his movies & his terrible acid reflux. It was the same day of his bus scene. He told us we'd make great vampires lol. What a small world.
Wow cool
NATARZYNA my family and I met him when he was filming at Hells Kitchen in Minnesota with his ant.
NATARZYNA this Is Niles Il at golf mill mall.
That's how you end up sat on a casting couch lol
Occupy Edge stahp

RIP
@Isabelle Deitz
Man I was rolling. 17:44 Was that freaking hilarious or what...Had milk boogers..Didn't think anything could top that until 18:35. Dad calling the cops. I freaking spit out the popcorn in my mouth with laughter. This guy is a treasure.
I love the idea of a crappy Universal Monster who only floats around cackling at people and all his "victims" just find him completely exhausting. He's not really threatening at all, he's just very annoying.
I live in the same town as him. The last time I saw him he was flexing in front of the Jewel Osco security camera so he could see himself on the TV haha.
I feel that in my soul
Lmfaooo idk why this is so funny guy makes movies yet excited to see himself on screen
@@MaoMoney Of course, he loves the camera.
The man is so passionate about filming ANYTHING (Movies or Vlogging) that people can't let go of their ego to actually dive into his mentality. I've been around people like him and I'm so thankful those people exist. They never let anyone or anything kill their passion and that's motivation, man.
"we're short on time so let's stay focused"
"I've got some peanut butter in my pocket"
Ha Ha Ha Awesome what a character!
Carter hahaha
Carter lmfao
*BEFORE HE GETS TOO OLD, STEVE CARELL SHOULD PLAY DAVID "ROCK" NELSON IN A BIOPIC.*
22:15 to 22:56 What a speech!!
Be happy, be positive & be yourself.
This needs more up votes. Favorite part of the documentary.
can't believe the haters who "dislkied" this & say that VICE is useless, diminished, etc
i loved this, it was a really sweet documentary about a true iconoclast & positive thinker
the world needs MORE people like him and a helluva lot less conformity
have gladly subscribed to vice after watching this (it was my first intro to you all)
well said
I agree with everything you jus said I just saw a comment saying how this person unsubscribed because this was pointless and that Vice has been on a downward spiral for years but in my opinion it's only gotten better yeah so what this didn't make a whole lot of sense when we have news of terrorism around the world but this is news I like watching because it keeps us real there was nothing fake about that just 100% honesty and truth and we need a lot more of that in this world with the way it's going no one has that kind of attitude towards anything these days and we need more people like David 'The Rock' Nelson on this planet
this guy reminds me why I love weird people and hate normal people
he’s not weird other people are weird for not understanding him
An amazing neighbor to have and you like to trip, imagine looking out the window while tripping 🤯
@FRANCISCO ULIN 🤡
@FRANCISCO ULIN hey dipshit are you mad?😂🤡🤡
This dude is a legend and this series by Vice is way sick. 10/10 would bang.
"Oh no its a pumpkin man... geez.." That moment made me laugh so hard.
"Oh, no! It's the pumpkin man... *Geez*"
HAHAHAHAHA
Zack - this was so very honest and without sarcasm or irony. Well done.
Why so many dislikes? This guy is hilarious
casual alt right trolls who dislike every video without watching it
@@lordschwarzkopf9561 go back to Tel Aviv
MANSTA MAHOOVIEZ
This man was made for youtube
it's like ADHD, SOMA, and Adderall, had a party and this is the result.
He made it. Total legend!
This dude is the real life Michael Scott 😂😂😂 the footage of him "sneaking up" on his gf would fit perfectly into The Office
MUCH RESPECT for David "The Rock" Nelson (and Vice - Outsider for telling his story): this man is what we all should aspire to be...
100% REAL 👍
This guy is fantastic! Not like the regular pretentious Hollywood asshole. Just a genuinely nice dude who wants people to enjoy his movies however they choose to. Bless this crazy bastard.
I think this is one of the best documentaries VICE has ever made.
I met him in the restroom of a theater during 24 hour horror movie marathon. Didn't know who he was but he was enthusiastic.
In 17:48 you can hear his mom say shit after her line
She sounded like she was very aggravated
This guy is amazing I'm so happy I found this! He seems like a nice guy to be around and just wants people to be happy and make stupid dumb stuff that wants to make people happy!
Also growing up in Chicago wgn morning news is the best morning news!
he's such an honest, nice dude. how could you NOT like him??
VICE > BUZZFEED
Amazing series! Really enjoyed every single episode so far. Really great to see all of these interesting personalities! Thanks for that, VICE!
At 4:07 the Vice dudes thinking 'wtf am I doing here... I made a mistake'
this needs to be an hour long and on TV regularly
He's like a real lifeMichael Scott

“Ok that’s enough, they will be calling the cops” hahahaha
this made me laugh non-stop. what a character, and a genuinely funny guy!
Officer: Did you have anything to do with the Starbucks up the street getting robbed?
4:05
I need all of these movies in my life right now
This is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. Thank you so much for this.
Does the guy have a webpage? Anything? I watched 25 minutes on the guy and I don't remember one plug.
davidrocknelson.com his vids are $20 and $2 for shipping
He also has a youtube channel
Yeah, VICE could've thrown him a bone and at least included a link to his YT channel. It's "David ROCK Nelson", username RockNelsonMovies.
Damn that’s a fucked up 3 years
2011 “Mom Dies”
2012 “Dad Dies”
2013 “Diagnosed with cancer”
First minute of the clips says it all..one of the most inspiring words.
This was INCREDIBLE! Semper Fidelis Brother!
i think this has to be the BEST video vice has brought out yet! great !!! loved it !!!
Dave is one of the nicest people ever. Vice....you did a good thing with this
Almost as good as the Decker lost episodes where he battled the Wolfman, Mummy, and Frankenstein
What a special person I wish we could all enjoy our lives with out giving a crap what others think like David"the rock"Nelson.
This is awesome! I love this guy’s passion for filmmaking.
Y'all cowards should have let Rock film this whole video.
Dear baby Jesus!!! This guy was a marine entrusted with a gun?! I'm lost for words.
No fucking way. I lived in Des Plaines for 6 years and in the next town over in Mt Prospect for almost my whole life. I love the bizarre and weird. I cant believe I didnt know about this guy. I guarauntee ive met him dozens of times and not known it. I cant believe it. Im definitely gonna look him up and walk over and say hi.
i met him at the mall lmao he just talked about his movies and stuff
First 5 minutes in I was thinking typical new Vice rubbish but by the end I was glad I stuck with it. Brilliant!
This guy should be everbody's grandfather.
He was really nice and told me all about him
I pine for the days of VHS. No - BETA.
Beautiful. I wish I could have half of this guys positivity… one day soon hopefully. Great job Vice and God Bless you The Rock Nelson.

Jesus Christ, I friggin love this guy! What a story of the triumph of the human spirit!
Just goes to show you there’s someone out there for everybody. Yet I’m still single
This guy has definitely been hit in the head too much, but, I fucking love this dude
this guy made my month.
When I was on Facebook years ago he added me as a friend, he thought I was someone else but he would message me more or less every week, a lot of it self promotion for his movies but he’s a cool guy, asked if I was from Bloomington Illinois, I said no I’m from Gateshead in England……
Finally, I love this series!
he's adorably weird and i love it
Vice, did you unlist the Fentanyl video, or is this a country issue with licenses? i was looking forward to looking what seemed to be a well researched documentary after I got home form work to discover it was no longer in my "watch later" collection.
Such a nice person all round,, ppl can take a page outta his book
Why am I crying
God bless David The Rock Nelson !!!!! Give him a damn internet show
Like make a RUclips account for him or something?
im in love with this man but does he remind anyone else michel scott?
Thanks Man. We enjoyed it !!
Please send me info about any showings that you have upcoming around the Des Plaines area. Thanks
What a beautiful, mental soul.
This guy is something special
David 'Crack Rock' Nelson
Wish I had a passion like this guy.
I cannot believe I watched this till the end.
what a delightful human being
what an absolutely brilliant human being
Rock on, Rock!
Where do I get his films? I need copies!
Bruh this my tribe
I think this guy might be autistic...
I'm not hating or being edgy or whatever, I'm being genuine. Also I'm saying this as an autistic person myself.
Like he never made eye contact, he did a bunch of scripting, echolalia, etc. He's clearly hyperverbal (most people think there's only nonverbal and verbal, but there's actually nonverbal, partially verbal, verbal, and hyperverbal). Monster movies are probably a special interest of his. That ant toy is probably a comfort item. Etc, etc.
Hell the being easily side tracked thing: I'm actually on ADHD meds despite not having ADHD because there's just so much swirling around in my head that I'm a total scatter brain without them. And this isn't uncommon either.
Like I think it's awesome that he's just living his best life, and everyone is cool with it. Stay weird buddy, you're awesome!
David "Rock" Nelson is way cool. I enjoyed every second of this feature. Keep it up David!
is this the real Michael Scott?
Holy shit it is
Spot on m8
his next movie should "threat level midnight"
holy shit i was just thinking that haha
That's exactly what I have instantly thought of when I first saw him come out of his house. Amazing!
Watched this while on 5g of mushrooms, I will never be the same again...
Thats Heavy
I wasn't too sure about this guy in the beginning, but hes got such a beautiful heart when it boils down to it.
This guy could probably make good money on RUclips
Josh Patterson he has a RUclips channel
GIve me a name please.
Channel name "David ROCK Nelson", username RockNelsonMovies. Per Social Blade, his estimated yearly earnings are $6 - $94. Of course Social Blade estimates that I make slightly more than that, yet I haven't monetized any of my videos, so take those figures with a grain of salt (or sugar, if you prefer).
DanHarkless ﴾Halloween videos, YTPs, & more﴿ His RUclips channel isn’t doing super well because the content is as scattered as his blessed thought processes.
After watching this excellent short documentary I can say with confidence that David "Rock" Nelson is one of the most genuine, positive, self-driven artists I've ever had the pleasure to discover and learn about. His life and works are truly inspiring! I think we can all learn a lot from a man like David. These days it's all too often that we criticize others for their unique and or different characteristics, personalities, and interests just because they don't fit neatly into a generalized social norm. We all stand to gain wisdom by learning about his life and works. We can especially learn from "The Rock" how to live more genuinely and be true to ourselves while embracing positivity, optimism, compassion, and respect for others. David's unwavering passion, unique personality, and lifelong commitment to interpersonal kindness and creativity are essential modern virtues. This was a great episode of *OUTSIDER*. Thanks, Zack Carlson! :)
How can you dislike this? This is probably some of Vice's best journalism in a while
"since 'the Rock' doesn't trust airplane technology" never have I heared a sentence come so naturally
People disliking this are heartless. This man is a legend! He just wants to make peoples lives better with Maahnsta Moovies!
The dude has a massive level of ADHD. So cool that he could coupe with life like a champ. :D
I would actually guess autism! I'm an autistic social worker who works with special needs families and his unbridled enthusiasm and mannerisms remind me a lot of the autistic people I work with. it's so refreshing to see someone completely unhindered by "normalcy" and just out here trying to accomplish his dreams and have fun.
@Nenethegreat W do you have a degree that enables you to state such a wildly untrue thing like it's fact? not everyone's success and coping looks the same as yours. there are circumstances and experiences you'll never have to deal with, so you can't judge how other people do so.
On this episode of *OUTSIDER*, we head out on a road trip with Nelson to learn more about his life-long fascination with horror films.
Like if you have a huge knob!
I have an idea for vice sport an exclusive how can I contact vice channel
Yeaaah...thanks for the update..i think i noticed that within the first 10 seconds. It's like me eating a cookie and teling people around me, hey 72vince27 is about to eat a cookie. Ease up fam.
+72vince27 u are ?
Look man..i am bored let me hate in peace.
please make more of outsider! best of vice!
this is awesome. stangely touching. Fuck'em haters, Vice.
What VICE really needs to do is give all these guys classes on modern recording techniques and digital editing. Then maybe one more on RUclips culture/algorithms then boom, you've got 3+ new badass tubers.
This guy is sooo positive. Has me feeling better about life...rock on, ROCK \m/
He really knows how to put a smile on people's faces and think positive and that's always awesome :)
This dude is awesome lol. He dose what he loves. Can't hate him for that.
He kinda reminds of of Uncle Stan from Gravity Falls.
That is spot on. Get this man a fez!
Constantine ikr
Gruncle*
He's my neighbor 😁
whats he like does he ever take it down
I remember being in film school and once a month we used to drop E and watch VHS tapes of Dave "Rock" Nelson's films from when the bars closed at 2am until we ran out of movies to watch.
I was constantly amazed that we went from me and my buddy Luke watching in my small apartment living room to about 30-40 people watching on a projector TV in the back of the bar I worked at after close.
If you went to film school with us in the 90's and were chill this became a right of passage.
I love his work.
