  • In this short clip I compare my vintage 1969 Marshall JMP 50 watt Lead (model 1987) to my hand-wired clone of the same type. I play a few chords on both amps, first with Volume I on 5, then on 10 (Volume II stays on 2). All other settings at noon, same for both amps throughout the recording.
    Gear used:
Gibson Les Paul Standard (2019, Smitty pickups)
Boss Tube Amp Expander with stock IR's (Brit Stack 4x12)

Sounds great. Classic Tone transformers! Wish they were still around. The JMP seems to have a bit more push here overall.

Thanks! You are right about the JMP - it really is more aggressive, has a little more of an edgy character. The clone is more 'civilised'. But it's great for recording!
