Thanks so much for watching the review! I really hope a couple updates come out, the Raven has incredible potential. Thank you so much for watching the video!
This is quality content; thank you so much for making this video! Really useful information. I just bought the raveneye myself, hoping it'll be more reliable when it comes to fast movement and parallax shots.
This was a great video showcasing the RavenEye! DJI has a track record of doing updates throughout a product's life so hopefully they keep improving it.
The video is very helpful for those who do not understand the English language too well. Bringing the most realistic and clear view I've ever seen on RUclips ever. Thank you. Good luck and hopefully you will develop the channel even more. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Well done, man.
Seems to me dude thats its all about the limitation of the motors and how quickly they can move. If you run fast but youre further away from the camera, you're creating a larger raidius and therefore the raveneye can keep up, if youre closer to the camera and run just as fast, your radius is much tighter and the raveneye can probably keep up but the motors in the gimbal cant move fast enough; its probably a safety thing DJI built into the app to stop their products burning out.... just my thoughts... I really enjoyed your video
Very good review, putting the thing into the real environment and testing it is kinda obvious thing, but most youtubers dont do it and they mostly talk about how this thing is amazing and they show few brolls where it handles the given job and thats it. Awesome video, excellent content. Love to you and your beautiful family. I think I might make the purchase of the Raveneye to go along with my RSC2. PEACE and BLESSINGS
Great video & keep it up! I bought this RS2/Raveneye set up a few weeks ago. In my testing so far the Raveneye is just a bit too much gear for what it’s worth to me. A lot of wires and tinkering to get it going. I think filming myself walking around talking like you did on the football field is really the only time I would use it. I definitely wouldn’t use Raveneye in any stressful or critical situation (yet).
The raven eye for me, works better as an assist while using the gimbal handheld. i don't see it as a replacement for a cam op fully when it comes to tracking on sticks. It's great to use for podcast, making your own PTZ Cam system with the force mobile feature or wireless joystick. I love how using it helps track the motion of the talent while the camera can now focus more on face detection an eye af bc the gimbal is helping me keep the talent composed properly

Hi Lemar...not sure if I missed something in the video but was wondering what you used to set the Ronin on for the later half of the video and would love to know. I am looking to use the RavenEye for the full body tracking you were showing but need a recommendation on a tripod setup that would work well and keep everything totally stable and upright like your was. My concern was the Ronin movement knocking over the tripod or at min getting some weighted wobble but your setup was rock solid even under heavy / fast motion. Thanks for and excellent demo of the RavenEye!
Thank you for the video and, especially, thank you for sharing video of your family. My kids are all grown now and I miss the days when they were young very much. I've ordered an RS3 Pro with the RavenEye and I hope to use it at work shooting cars. I do walk-arounds and rolling footage videos at work and trying the keep the gimbal locked on a vehicle can be challenging. Have you any experience using the RavenEye to keep objects in frame? You think it might work? Or is it only good for people?
Denver!!! I'm in Boulder man. Subbed to see you hit 1k man. I am thinking about getting the rsc2. I have an alpha 6600 and I plan on making some travel vlogs when I can actually travel. hahaha. These gimbals are sick! I think it stops tracking when the speed is set really low. It looked like it wanted to but then it stopped when you were moving faster than it was going to go.
Nice mann! Boulder is amazing. Me and my wifey go hike there from time to time! Yea I agree with you. The gimbal is amazing it’s worth buying just for the locking feature which lets you balance it super easy, and I’m someone who is very bad at it haha. The 6600 on the RSC2 would be a dope set up. Appreciate your support!
@@LemarGriffinfilms Yea I think I would just get the gimbal and not the raven eye. Good videos man. I need to step up my game. It's hard to grow on youtube. I'm going to make a follow-up video what are you going to use it for? Can try to answer your question if you wanna send me what you thinking of using it for...
thanks, this was the best review i've seen on youtube! sorry the geese wouldn't play! any idea how it does with the subject further away? like maybe 30-40 feet back? thanks!
@@LemarGriffinfilms oh that would be amazing! i'm trying to film myself kitesurfing. i can get my wife to do it sometimes... but she's not a videographer so its a challenge to get consistent footage :) i'd basically be riding back and fourth in front of it, and doing some jumping. i think if it can track your speed, then it should be able to track me
@@erbartlett did it yesterday it kept losing me 30 but once I was about 15-20 it worked pretty well. I'd say best bet for you would be to rent it first for a couple days and see if it can check the box you need and if so buy one but if you rent it and things dont go well you can just send it back in. I also like a feature on there where you can use it and control the camera called "force mobile" that mite work for you. Let me know how it turns out
Thanks so much for watching! I’ve always wanted to go to Costa Rica! Hopefully one day! I would email someone from DJI and see if there anyway you can get one, or the closet manufacturer they have that may be able to send you one. Thanks again for tuning in!
@@LemarGriffinfilms great! You're welcome to come to CR any time. There's a lot of places you can spend with your family. And i'm gonna find out if i can get it here or i should buy it from US. Pura Vida!
Thanks for the video. I have the DJI RS3, the raveneye and I'm using a nikonz30 camera. I have the same issues with it tracking athletes or myself during practices and games. Also, when I use it during games it gets lost with all of the players on the court. I wish there was a way where it could just track the basketball. Have you learned anything new about this RavenEye since this video?
Great video! Unfortunately I'm getting a blank screen on my Sony A7S3. And it's working with my phone only. Was wondering how you got yours to work (the cameras screen + phone display)?
@@LemarGriffinfilms haha alright, and were you shooting 4k with no problem with the raveneye by chance? Cause I'm thinking that might also be the problem? 🤔
I've noticed from your video and my personal raven eye is it seems to track wayyyyy better when the subject and the gimbal move right, it seems alot slower and worse at tracking when moving left. Have you noticed this???
Hello. Can I have 1 question? I have a problem with the straight eye because it certainly follows, but always while following it tries to return the frame to the center and that transition is fast it is not smooth, so it drives me crazy. How do I set it up?
Hey Lamar, Thanks for such a realistic video. Really got to know the good and also the not so good things about the product. My sense why it looses you during running 🏃♂️ while not the runner in Pete’s video is possibly because if I remember right , the camera in that video was possibly being maintained parallel to the runner. How are you enjoying your RS2 since your video. Are you planning to upgrade to RS3? Love to know what you think.
does the raveneye rely on your camera autofocus or it focuses by itself? Like if you bought the pro version with the motors and stuff? Or you need the 3d autofocus
What do you see the applications would be in using this? Besides self video, is there an event or vision you would have trust in this? Like using it at a wedding ceremony if you don’t have a second shooter?
Great question. At this point I wouldn't trust laving it alone without someone to monitor and make sure it's tracking but if I had a shooter that could montier and make sure its framed up I'd def use it at a wedding for tight ceremony shots of the bride and groom. As for now it's great for walking talking head stuff I think. Thanks for the question!
great video, I'm wanting something to track me instead of throwing my camera on a tripod and getting a really static shot. Not sure whether its worth it to go all out on the RS2 with the raveneye or if I should scoop up the sc for like a third of the price and just use the active track through my phone 🧐🧐🧐
I feel you on that! Both are amazing options. But if you not running fast or doing anything super quick the Raven eye would be perfect for you. But on the another hand I agree with ya on saving some cash and just grab the SC. I’d go RS2 just because it holds a heavy camera and it’s easier to balance but I’m the worst ronin balancer in the world. Thanks for watching! I’m putting out a video soon with the FX3, RS2 & the Raven eye!
@@LemarGriffinfilms I pulled the trigger on an sc and will gladly put the extra cash saved into some nice glass down the line, appreciate the response. And hell yeah, I'll be looking out for that video 👍
Quick question did you find out how to control ISO and aperture from app? How to connect camera and setup cables to control ISO. Plese let me know, thank you ✌️
not saying you can't, but with my experience with dji products connected with phones, active track only works with their apps (mimo, dji fly, ronin, etc.) if the monitor does not have the software, I don't see it working.
Hey bro, I have the A74. I also have the RSC2 with Raven Eye but have not used it since I bought it. Do you feel that the eye af in video of the A74 renders the raven eye useless if I am holding the gimbal myself to keep track of subject instead of raven eye? Also, raven eye will be great for family movies to track members where you hide the phone on them & just follow them around such as your daughter on days out. Then it negates the need to manually keep tracking etc
What up. I don't think it would b useless but for sure if you are going to hand hold the gimbal and use eye auto focus to film with you family you don't need the raven eye. It almost is more work to put it on and track and make sure it keeps tracking the entire time. I'm not saying its unless but I think for your case with filming you fam and you knowing how to work your ronin you mite get slowed down by it. I say try both, with and without and see what you like. Hope that helps boss.
@@LemarGriffinfilms thanks for the reply bro. My uses is family vids aswell as content making with dogs. I was thinking the raven eye would be good for tracking fast dogs sprinting but watching this, handheld is probably going to be the way to go. Raven eye could have its uses for other ideas for dogs but not sprinting etc i dont imagine. Subbed bro
thx for the video man from Germany. I bought it to step my video game up...but i know i have al lot to do ha ;) Ihav no cameraman and hope that i can fix that with die raven eye to get better motion videos wher i can walk an talk with the fallow
You gotta let it be able to predict the motion. It seems to do a great job at predicting the future if the velocity of what it's tracking doesn't go another direction before it can totally predict that future. If you need crazy movements tracked you need another camera op otherwise you need track things going slower.

2nd review of the raven eye where the person mentions Peter Mckinnon. DJI better be paying this man Lol
Looks like you are getting some decent views for a smaller channel. I have some scuba videos and other random stuff on my channel feel free to check them out! ;) Till next time man.
Great video! Straight knowledge right here💯
863! Love family
sweet =) thanks for making this video
hey are you still using raven eye if yes .. whats your opinion after a year ?
I'm going to make a follow-up video what are you going to use it for? Can try to answer your question if you wanna send me what you thinking of using it for...
Amazing can it also track objects like cars or bikes or is it just for humans?
thanks, this was the best review i've seen on youtube! sorry the geese wouldn't play! any idea how it does with the subject further away? like maybe 30-40 feet back? thanks!
Appreciate you Evan! I haven’t tried it that far I’ll test it out today and let you know give me a few hours. I got ya
@@LemarGriffinfilms oh that would be amazing! i'm trying to film myself kitesurfing. i can get my wife to do it sometimes... but she's not a videographer so its a challenge to get consistent footage :) i'd basically be riding back and fourth in front of it, and doing some jumping. i think if it can track your speed, then it should be able to track me
@@LemarGriffinfilms any luck trying?
@@erbartlett did it yesterday it kept losing me 30 but once I was about 15-20 it worked pretty well. I'd say best bet for you would be to rent it first for a couple days and see if it can check the box you need and if so buy one but if you rent it and things dont go well you can just send it back in. I also like a feature on there where you can use it and control the camera called "force mobile" that mite work for you. Let me know how it turns out
@@LemarGriffinfilms very cool, thanks. What does force mobile do?
Thanks for sharing! Which lens did u used with your Sony with ronin?
Very intersting info. Thks a lot. It's a shame that here in my country, Costa Rica, It's hard to find this gadget.
Thanks for the feedback. What speed would you recommend for workout videos? 20/30?
Great video mate! Have you tried it with a...let's say, 300mm-400mm lens? I suspect it will suffer?
Great video! Unfortunately I'm getting a blank screen on my Sony A7S3. And it's working with my phone only. Was wondering how you got yours to work (the cameras screen + phone display)?
I seriously just followed the instructions down to a t. You may have the cables not matched up correctly. I did this wrong at least 5-6 times
@@LemarGriffinfilms haha alright, and were you shooting 4k with no problem with the raveneye by chance? Cause I'm thinking that might also be the problem? 🤔
@@russ9820 Yeah I was shooting 4K. Make sure everything is updated also that may be the issue. Hope you get it figured out boss!
@@russ9820 The a7siii can keep the screen on when shooting 4k with the HDMI out. The a7iii cannot unfortunately
The same thing happened to me. Wish I had the answer for you. I’ll try to figure it out when I try mine later this week
What Sony lens and nd filter were you using? Thanks for making this video
Hey thanks for watching. I was using the Sony 24 1.4 and 6-9 stop freewell ND
Thank you dude you are a really nice person
does the raveneye rely on your camera autofocus or it focuses by itself?
And hell yeah, I'll be looking out for that video 👍
did you ever have trouble with a black screen after connecting to the rayvens eye
Are you using a separate audio from the camera like rode or dji
Quick question did you find out how to control ISO and aperture from app?
How to connect camera and setup cables to control ISO.
Plese let me know, thank you ✌️
Unfortunately I didn't do much from the app I set everything then started doing the drills and filming
have you ever used it with an external monitor?? can you draw the box on the monitor?
I haven’t. I have never tried to use a monitor and the raven eye at the same time.
not saying you can't, but with my experience with dji products connected with phones, active track only works with their apps (mimo, dji fly, ronin, etc.) if the monitor does not have the software, I don't see it working.
I think it losses you when you run past the snow and you are wearing white... Good video.
Thanks for watching Andre! Much love
good job bro thanx for this
Hey bro, I have the A74.
If you need crazy movements tracked you need another camera op otherwise you need track things going slower.
agreed. Thanks for watching
@@LemarGriffinfilms upload some more vids that you've made with it
Hi, I am having some trouble with my raveneye with image reception on the phone app. I connect successfully my phone to the raveneye and can enven control my RSC2, change aperture and shutter speed of my Canon 70D. But i receive no image on my phone (just a black screen). What do it do?
Thanks bro
Yes sir much love fam 👊🏾
