  • I saw W2AEW build one of these and I wanted it. It came in at about $60 including the box abd PCB but it is still a lot cheaper than that Heathkit IT11 which I guess is made in equal parts Platinum and Gold. I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a cute blinky green eye.

Golly, you really know who to look to for the real deal on capacitor data. Hats off to ya!

Thanks. Looking for a bad cap or two to test. I usually don't keep them around.

I've always wanted one of these, especially when I was recapping Hallacrafter shortwave receivers. As far as kits go I've built scores of Heathkits over the years. I still have a few VTVMs, tube testers and a few audio and rf generators.
I've always built from the center, out to the edges. Resistors first followed by capacitors, discreet components and finally any hardware such as pots, transformers etc. I wouldn't mind buying a circuit board myself. Now I'll continue the video. Regards TomI

Enjoy. It really is a nice piece to add to the bench if you do any work on older stuff.

Can you tell us where to buy the pcb or is it only available to the group you mentioned? Will there be a part 2 showing the case mounting and the finished project? Is there perhaps a case mount voltmeter that could be added? Thanks, as a retired tech from the Bell System, I enjoy your videos. Tom

just picked up the board off Ebay, are you going to put meters in soon ?

Funny you should ask. I put on a meter for the current output. It works ok but I have to do some more work on it to get it to actually mean something. Right now it is just a quick reference.
