I think games that want you to do better because you enjoy success is a refreshing change of pace. Do well because success is enjoyable rather than needing to chase achievements or whatever. And, obviously, (though you didn't mention this) the bananas are the currency so there's always a reason to collect as many as you can, even if not all of them.

I will say that in the original Monkey Balls (Monkeys Ball?), there was a reason for getting some but not all of the bananas: the arcade mode had a lives system, and you'd gain an extra life for every hundred bananas you grab. So there was a risk/reward for going out of your way to grab difficult-to-reach bananas and reach the goal under time, to give you more chances for that 1-credit clear. I don't know much about the new one, but I think there are little achievements you can go for by stage in this version that include collecting X bananas, so I guess that's something too
Monkey Ball 1 was to me the best. I don’t know if it’s just that it was a new game type at the time or that it came out on Ganecube (one of my favourite consoles growing up).
Hey Arlo. Just FYI, there are missions for each stage of monkey ball to complete. Some are time-based and some based on how many bananas you collect. This is where literally all the fun is for me; completing each stage’s misssion is like a completionist kind of thing.

Appreciate the honesty that goes with the humor here. Nice reviews!
Arlo, you are never too old for SpongeBob! Equally balanced humor for adults and kids.
I really enjoyed this double impressions video! I'd love to see this type of content more often!
Really liked this format, even quick impressions like these are helpful!
Arlo: "Im not going to collect all the bananas"
Shows footage of him trying to get all the bananas
That may have been Yoshiller, as they recorded some of the All Star footage.
Honestly hearing Arlo talk about games he doesn't know much about is quite refreshing, you don't see almost anyone on RUclips do that, it's very interesting to hear someone talk about an experience out of their comfort zone
I've seen tons of RUclips content creators review games they didn't know much about and gave a try, especially when they receive free copy of the game and other stuff from the developer
Arlo with the Monkey Ball Hat is what I live for
To be fair, the BEST way to enjoy monkey ball is to take turns through the story mode with your friends while having some disgustingly strong mixed drinks. Never fails to entertain.
Monkey Ball is weird in that it does seem to incentivize getting all the bananas, but most of the stages you are unable to get all the bananas due the their layout...
More vids like this, Arlo! And voice acting is on the table for the developers of Nick All-Star Brawl. Sounds like they've got more characters and fixes for the game on the way.
For one data point, I love the double feature idea for games you might not otherwise review. Do more!!
Arlo in that hat is so freaking adorable.
Ah, my favourite Arlo centric games, Nickelodeon Arl-Stars Brawl and Super Monkey Arlo Banana Mania!
I really liked this video format, I probably wouldn't have watched impressions for both of these games if they were individual videos
If getting double feature videos where each game gets a smaller spotlight, means we get to see Arlo talk about more games… I’m all for it.
I love Monkey Ball so much, thanks for trying it.
The double feature went really smoothly, it didnt feel crammed or fast paced, and i really enjoyed it
I did not know I needed monkey eared arlo in my life
It gave me life
This format is really good actually. Don't hesitate to keep'em coming man. Ps: Love you Arlo.
This as a double feature was nice, but I definitely think there was enough here to do two separate impressions videos.
Arlo : Thanks Sega for all this cool swag!
Also Arlo : I don't like Monkey Ball.
Telling it like it is.
My friend said you need to constantly re input your controls after every match. If that's the case, I'd rather just have the name system
I liked the 2 in 1 for this vid, good way to make it longer without having to add a ton of fluff that can make a video drag. Though even if it were fluff your delivery is always enjoyable.
Arlo is the only person I've seen that can say that a game isn't for him but can still say it's good
That was too funny! You hype up the loot box you got from Sega. Hype hype hype hype hype then "I...don't like this' LOL!!!!
as a 80's kid im all about high scores but I get what hes saying I've yet to try it but arlo always gives honest reviews which is why when it comes to new switch games I love to see his take on games
Arlo is done with the Nintendo News Roundups and I'm glad
I remember Monkey Ball on the GameCube a ton, but my sister and I played a lot of the Monkey Target gameplay, where you fly through the air. I never was one for the main game type, a ton of the side mini games was where I had my fun. Cool to see for Monkey Ball fans!!
Two games in one video! Great idea!
I am thoroughly hooked into All Star Brawl. It's so much fun. It's just a blast to play online.
i’m actually one of those who saw that episode of the podcast and was a bit miffed when you sorta dismissed nick brawl, but i get it. i’m glad to see you’ve come around to it now that you’ve played it! i’ve been having a ton of fun with it myself as well. while i don’t think an apology was really necessary i still appreciate that you were willing to say that :)
Butternut squash?
Yes please
No thank you
Perhaps
Both games were awesome and really fun to play!
I don't know much about the new one, but I think there are little achievements you can go for by stage in this version that include collecting X bananas, so I guess that's something too
Would love to see Glitch Techs or Making Fiends in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl as DLC.
Monkey Ball 1 was to me the best. I don’t know if it’s just that it was a new game type at the time or that it came out on Ganecube (one of my favourite consoles growing up).
I love the idea of an Arlo double feature, this video had me grinning
Hey Arlo. Just FYI, there are missions for each stage of monkey ball to complete. Some are time-based and some based on how many bananas you collect. This is where literally all the fun is for me; completing each stage’s misssion is like a completionist kind of thing.
You’ve been killing it with the uploads lately
More Arlo videos mean more Arlo in the world! Keep them double impressions coming if you feel like making them!
Arlo with the Monkey ball hat might be my favorite thing of all time
DOUBKE REVIEW.
I cant wait to watch this while watering the plants😃😃😃
