The exhaustion of battery power is already being addressed by NZ MG, who are looking at a software solution.. This is covered in another video released today. As a general comment regarding this, if you want to thrash the bollocks of a car, this would not be the car you would choose. If on the other hand, this is an ideal family car, and reviewers have been impressed with it, the price and warranty make this a no brainer.😊😊😊.
I own a MG3 hybrid+ and have done 1800 kms on it so far. The battery indicator never goes down to zero in normal day to day driving… it gets down to 3 bars before the engine starts recharging it. On the other hand, I’ve seen it topped up and the system will prevent more charge going into the battery and will say regen mode stopped’ or something like that on the screen. In normal driving, you will notice this lack of push when accelerating at 60-80ks when your screen shows HEV mode. It’s noticeable but not dangerous. The biggest issue I’ve had is the fuel economy is best when driving on eggshells… meaning slow accelerator, keepign well below speed limit. With such driving I’ve even seen 3.7l/100. But drive the way I normally do, the fuel economy is much higher .. 5.2L-5.5l/100.. a toyota hybrid on the other hand consistently gives the best economy regardless of the way you drive.
@MacGyver618 motorways in Australia are usually between 100kmph and 110kmph. I have only done short drives at such speeds .. not more than 20km at a time at motorway speeds. This is primarily because my long distance highway car is a Mazda CX-5. At 100kmph -110kmph, the trip computer indicates between 5.4 - 5.8 l/100. Hope this helps.
I actually quite liked the look of this car, but having read some UK road tests it's clear not all the faults and shortcomings of the previous model have been addressed. Auto Express here in the UK said they had reservations regarding the build, and what they called the "veneer" of quality in what is actually a fairly budget car.
Are you sure it has 467NM? Because my Civic E-hev hybrid with a 2.0L engine and 0 to 100kms in under 7 seconds only has 315NM, I would have thought with 467NM it would be faster than 8.7 seconds. That was a nice, entertaining video. The Auckland countryside is looking nice. You are lucky to be heading into summer, here; we are heading into winter. Your car prices are much cheaper than they are here in England. That car would be $50,000 here.
@@pillred5974 yes, it is rated to 465Nm with the help of the EV motor. Thanks for the comment. I love New Zealand summer. It is the best time of the year.
Hello, Regarding the issue of the vehicle being powered only by the combustion engine when the battery is low, this problem was reported to MG Europe 5 months ago. Unfortunately, it still hasn't been resolved by MG, and no update has been released to address it. We are still waiting, and I strongly doubt that MG Australia will be able to resolve this issue, especially since they were already aware of it before the vehicle's launch.
@@karizlouza6726 yeah but as I said, I drove one the MG3 hybrid for more than 3000km and I never had any issue about battery charge running out. You really have to push its limit to run out the hybrid battery charge
Will you still be doing an explanation video on the driving features of this car, adaptive cruise control etc… I’m not used to all the features and how to use them and a video would really help, thanks
Have a question, I have a 23 zst and and looking to upgrade. Good thing in the zst is the lane keep assistance when turned off, stays turned off permanently as it’s unsettling feeling the car fight you and try to hug the lane, so I only drive without it on. Does the hybrid+ remember the lane keep assist setting when u turn off the car? Tx
@@andrewheale4738 good discussion but isn’t that the normal way? Most of the mechanical gear selectors go forward to Reverse or Park then backwards to Drive.
Agreed that it’s always been so. But push forward to go backwards, and pull backwards to go forwards, is a bizarre kind of logic. Perhaps the guy who invented it was left handed😂😂.

So MG knows it and they are trying to fix it?

Sadly no. The problem is the newest ANCAP safety ratings. All the new cars tested now have to have these functions on when you start the car.
How long will the battery last, is MG given any warranty on the battery?
