I'm considering turning it into a overlanding rig, so it was nice to see someone bring a similar heavy duty truck on such a challenging course. Definitely crazy but the best kind of crazy. I love these vids!

A lot to this video. Camera work was top notch. Tommy's demise, never seen that angle from the top before. That puts it in 100% perspective imo. You are not just driving up a slope, that is drive into a wall, get your nose up and hope to be able to roll up it. Which means, this vehicle was at a great dis-advantage with the length. Tires be damned here. It starts with the right vehicle length. Approach and rear departure angles are 100% the deciding factor. You have had a few get through the whole course now w/out a winch or tow, but not many.(finally lost count, 3-5)I was going to comment that you gave too much preview away and the actual video would not seem as exciting, but I think the amount of drama in the preview almost matched what really took place. Good editing. 👍 Glad you don't let Roman decide how much the driver is going to take on. lol Also am glad you let the drivers drive their own vehicles. This guy was dialed into what his rig could and could not do. And what he was willing to put it through. Makes for great content right here. 👍

These Michelin tires are same ones that were on the previous generation Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. Yes they struggled in the mud, but they didn't get stuck to the point of being stopped. Toyota had a video series of a couple of their sponsored off road racers take a stock TRD Pro Tundra to South America. I know they drove up and down a volcano. Some of what they drove on/thru was legitimately impressive.

    SAFETY TIP ON WINCHING:
PLEASE ALSO add a metal plate to the rear of the cab and/or a removable front protective plate so when the tow hook chains, rops or straps SNAP, that the metal hook itself won't smash through the rear windshield of the tow vehicle or go through the front windshield of the stuck vehicle causing massive head injuries! Matt's Off-road Recovery channel has a whole video on a DEAD DRIVER of a 4x4 that was caused by a winch wire/rope SNAPPING and going right through the driver's-side windshield! The amount of force on a taut winch-hookup can be several THOUSANDS to TENS-OF-THOUSANDS of PSI of pressure and all that force WILL go through thin metal, glass and your body like a hot knife in butter!

Dozer there to pull them out. 1/2 ton pick ups, smaller SUVs with all/4 wheel drive could motor around without issue. Diesels at Sand Hollow, stuck. Nose heavy, just what it is.

I own a truck for daily and tow vehicle. I also own a lifted Jeep on 37s. Big heavy diesel trucks are no comparison to a Jeep or Toyota off-road. In the same way, Jeep owners stop pulling too-heavy trailers. Both are wrong - LOL. Love that he tried though. That’s better than being a capable mall crawler.

In that mud, you see the real reason a Cummins isn't that great off road!!! Big heavy anchor!!!

Look at Matt's Off Road Recovery - it's a litany of 3/4 ton trucks getting hung up. All that weight = bad off road. One of the worst stuck situations I was involved with was of a 3/4 ton diesel GMC. Still and all, an impressive run and entertaining segment.

Heavy lumbering beasts and mud do not go well.
