I like mushy linear switches. Gateron browns and Romer-Gs are my favorites. Well, I've only also tried some cheap off-brand reds..but they were really wobbly and weird.

I use outemu blues
I find that the subtleness of browns bump is ideal if you lube them (smoother) and place wasd's red o rings (the smaller ones for less noise, but not mushy) in a cherry profile keycap (better feel/lower profile). With this setup you press through the very light bump and you get the light bottom out directly after. This leads to a very fast, focused, and accurate gaming/typing experience without a unnecessarily larger bump/click.
They are so scratchy that lubing them makes them more scratchy
Not my experience with this setup.

Mx Brown switches are hands down my favorite.
This video makes me have good feelings like before the pandemic when I used to watch all your streams. I'd be happy to see more of this. And also find time to watch your streams again.
Honestly, Mx browns suck. I used to have them, but I replaced them with gateron browns. It wasn't the tactility that sucked, but the scratchiness. Lubed gateron browns are a pretty good cross between tactile for typing and linear enough for games.
Gats are literally cloned browns, probably worse than the hyperglide retools. Pro Purple is a step up(better thock and feedback, but not zeal v2 bump) from both browns with speed copper being a step in the middle.
IMO the retooled browns in the RGB housings are much better than the memed on standard black tops
For me it’s the opposite. While I haven’t ever used gat browns I found that MX browns were better than MX reds and MX blues. Also I have use zeal v2’s and I found the tactility as a little too strong. I feel that people hate on browns because it’s the most popular. It is also night and day when browns are on a good board vs bad board and I know that most people’s first keyboard were most likely some terrible brown board. Anyways I’m going to order some holy pandas and hopefully they are better than browns.
Browns aren’t that bad, I just upgraded to holy pandas and while they are satisfying to type on, they’re more of a novelty. Browns are much more subtle than pandas and don’t really get in the way, especially for gaming. Browns are a good mix between linear and tactile switches, and that’s why I think they’re good.
@Disciplexeon The Operator I never said gats were worst than cherry browns. I said that i prefer browns over Zealios V2's. If I had some gats with me I would probably try them out and most likely prefer them over browns.
I don't really have the budget to get expensive switches though, so gat browns do it for me. They are very different from mx browns in my opinion

I have only ever used Blues, Reds and Browns. I prefer Browns, but I also am not as well traveled when it comes to switches.
Funny thing, I'm not a fan of MX Brown but I do like Gateron Brown. I feel like the tactile bump is more pronounced in the Gateron switch.
All of a sudden people hate Cherry MX Brown just because of an influencer's opinion LOL. Don't be biased by Glarses, go and try them yourself.

I agree that it isn't the worst switch out there but it definitely is not the best for it's price. Unless of course, you have different "preferences".

I bought a switch tester, in my opinion the tactility "scale" from better to worse is (only Browns):
Kailh > Kailh Box > Gateron >= Cherry
Strangely, Cherry RGB Brown seems slightly more tactile than the normal non-RGB version.
I know that a tester is absolutely not the same as a keyboard but it is enough not to make great mistakes when buying switches, my favourite one on the tester is Kailh Box Royal (great tactility but a bit heavy for my fingers, 75g IIRC).

Tbh I've never used a Brown nor any tactile for that matter, in fact I've only ever used Outemu Reds, but their is no way that a Cherry MX Brown being as popular as it is, is even close to as bad as a cheap membrane/rubber dome.
Mx Browns are simply overhyped that is the reason why people trash talk them. They aren’t really tactile nor linear and are fairly scratchy, but lots of people (especially newbies) like them a lot. Cherry was glorified for years, but nowadays the big competition makes it hard to choose them.
they aren't bad, they're fine. actually no, they aren't fine, I've felt fine, they're passable. I think they're popular because of cherry's reputation between the general public that they have the best switches, and because people think it's a middle ground between reds and blues. As the other commenter stated, people who don't know anything about mk's gravitate towards these switches. In my opinion, browns are awful. scratchy, hardly any tactility, if at all, and sound bad. Once you try a variety of different tactiles, it becomes apparent that browns are just not good

I bought Ducky one 2 TKL Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX brown switches. MX Cherry Brown hate is a joke lmao. They are solid switches for gamers and typists. Do let anyone make you not buy them.
