I know that people are sad that Ally or Emily won’t be in this season but…
Zac Oyama is the sleeper agent that will break Matt.
Full agree. The Gamechanger skit where Brennan is Zac's defense lawyer and Zac's one liner kills me every. single. damn. time.
People forget about Norman Skip Takamori, the man that knew how to use gun boots that only shoot down and did a sneak attack on a plinth.
It does suck Emily isn't there, just because I wanted to see Matt try and deal with her absurdity.
Explain
I gotta admit I was desperate for Laura Bailey and Emily Axford to be in the same game, the sheer rolling chaos those two would create could rip the fabric of spacetime
Love that they had the art department make a giant sword literally just for that reveal. Iconic as always
you're talking like one of these lunatics didn't have that already lying at home....
I think they had to make a replacement candy sword for Lou after he gave Payment Day to Chris Pine.
@@VonSnootingham i'm sorry, what? lol not heard about this
@@Snoozems.. me neither..I just assumed someone had something like that at home, because why not? lol
Indeed! We considered Payment Day (this was shot prior to Lou giving it away to Chris Pine) but it was WAY too big, so our amazing Production Designer for this trailer, Noxweiler Berf, made that sword!
Brennan playing a wizened Bulbosi radish with “a biggo red head” truly captures the full spectrum of deep worldbuilding plus silliness with a side of “I’m a wizard in every improv scene”
Brennan knows that magic is going to be a game changer, he had to DM for Emily, I’m sure he’ll be a problem
Man i really want him to be so devilishly evil now!
Ohhh I thought it was big ol' red head!
It’s either/or. He just says it in a silly way
he definitely said big ol’
While unfortunately Emily didn’t get to break Matt this time around, I am SO excited the Aabria, Brennan, and Zach are all at the same table with Matt playing under his GMing style. Also the fact that Lou and Brennan are next to each other is going to be so chaotic I can’t wait
I'm more surprised none of the CR people came over to guest star in this game.
I wonder if the 6th player seat is actually being left open because another surprise player is going to join later? (Marisha has already been on D20 before so I'm really hoping it's Laura Bailey this time)
While i am super stoked for this, i cannot help but be devastated Emily and Murph will not get thier chance to obliterate Matt this time around
@@skoffs Personally, I would love to see Taliesin at the table!
@@Waterflame I mean that'd be great, but can you imagine Laura Bailey and Emily Axford at the same table?
There's still plenty of time in front of us, and many campaigns to be led 😊 we'll have our chaos personified season with Emily and Laura ❤
I’m really happy that Lou is seemingly playing a guy from the meat lands cause in the original crown of candy that’s the one part of the world that felt really unexplored and like it was just over there completely separate to the story
Yeah, A Crown of Candy got cut short by some sort of fire code issue affecting their schedule so there was a whole part of the adventure set in Carne that had to be cut to save time :(
@Amanda W oh wow I didn't know that.
That's really interesting.
Yeah, Rick Perry and the team had built an Arena with meat monsters and everything
@@amandaw2133 your telling me a huge dice dome isn’t up to code????
the meat man cometh
"Running a prequel to each other's campaign" levels of friendship 🤟
peak friendship 👍
Oh my god this is literally everything I've ever wanted from a D&D campaign. Matt Mercer DMing a more casual and fun campaign with Brennan playing, set in the world of my favorite campaign, and all my favorite people. Only way it could be better is with Emily and Murph but I know the table can only fit so many people
That's the first time I've ever heard anyone describe Crown of Candy as casual and fun...
@@skoffs I was gonna say did this guy watch the first season or...
Casual and fun? Did you watch Crown of Candy? This is going to be a terrible roller coaster of emotion
@@Dawsalfin Are people joking or are yall serious? Are we really acting like the drama about the candy people was supposed to be taken fully seriously?
@@NovaBlueNova one of the best things about this season for me was that the setting itself was so silly and yet the content itself was so severe. It was the juxtaposition of ridiculousness and heartbreaking tragedy and intensity that made it so brilliant for me. It's all fantasy drama none of it is close to reality, why take this season any less seriously than CR, which I consider to have a much lighter tone in general than ACOC did?
A crown of Candy Prequel is something I never knew I needed till this trailer came out
I just realized Lou really did go ahead and name his meat boy character after Katz Deli.
I LOVE it.
Looking at him, I think he has some Ceresian (the bread land) heritage as well because I think that's a marble rye arm and...ears?...headband? And his spear is one of those toothpicks you stick through a sandwich. So yeah, he's going all in on the deli theme there.
😭😭😭
Did he say that in one of the Adventuring Parties, or an interview elsewhere?
(I'm only on episode 2 of ACOC but pro-spoilers ;) )
@@TimpanistMoth_AyKayEll His character is named DELIssandro KATZson and he's associated with Carn, the capitol of the Meatlands. Just look at his character art at 2:14
@@FuzzyKayna Yep, got that part. I took the OP to mean that Lou had _previously_ said he would make this character or use this reference, ("he really went ahead and did it") but now I think I may have just misread them. :)
I feel like that last "oh no" from Brennan is him getting his first ever "How do you wanna do this?" and realizing how amazing it feels :D
I believe he did experience that during the Elden Ring one-shot (which is extremely entertaining even if you, like me, know next to nothing about that game), but it's probably different on his home turf. :)
I can't help but be curious as to whether Attie Boersma here has seen the episode yet or not
(No judgement either way, just...I can't help but see that scene in the trailer in a whole new way after seeing the episode itself)
This is the perfect setting to unleash Matt Mercer. Courtly intrigue transformed into gothic horror.
Crown of Candy’s original filming being cut short is a tragedy.
whoa, I never knew that it was cut short! how much longer was it supposed to go?
@@allyabernathy4098 I think it was supposed to be 26 episodes? There was a whole sidequest & fight in Carne that had to be cut. Some fire code issue with the dome that was handed down right before filming so they had to uproot everything & completely change their filming schedule. Thus the ongoing jokes about being in a warehouse at 5 AM.
I'm going off memory here, I'm sure the Internet will correct all of my mistakes.
@@piercewise1 That sums it up pretty well. I think it was going to be 20-21 episodes long; there were 2 battlemaps that didn't get used. The cast knew ahead of time, so Brennan had some time to determine what would get cut and what wouldn't.
@@piercewise1 Pretty sure it was gonna be 20 eps; brennan said in the final adventuring party that "3 whole episodes got cut", which is gutting to hear!! You nailed the reason though; fire marshall ruled they couldn't use the location they had the D20 dome set up in, so they had to relocate and reschedule at the last minute;
From the first season. we lost a fight in a Carne Coliseum, as well as a fight in a Comida pleasure/smoking lounge. Both apparently had cool mechanics that Brennan said he was gonna repurpose for another campaign - I don't think he's ever confirmed since what campaign they've been used in since though, if any...
@@swampet5457 The coliseum fight's mechanics were repurposed for the arena battle in Starstruck, if I remember correctly! Not sure about the pleasure lounge.
If we got to have both Aabria AND Brennan as players at the table this season, I might just pass away, the combined DM power would be nigh inconceivable
(commented made before preview)
RIP then.
Bro died
Someone start the Eulogy, we're about to have a funeral.
are you still alive?
Battle for Beyond. Both Brennan and Aabria as players for Coffin Run DM Jasmine "ThatBronzeGirl" Bhullar. Available for free on RUclips.
so thrilled about Matt DMing and Zac, Brennan, Lou and Aabria at the table but theres not NEARLY enough people here excited about Anjali Bhimani!! she’s such an incredible player that im so excited to see finally gracing D20!
What's she been in before? (not that she has to have a track record of big name shows in order to be an amazing performer)
@@ziwuri She did the Deadlands 4 session, where Matt was a player rather than DM.
@@leemarshall6955 She was also in the Critical Role Doom one shot. She's played a few memorable characters in their campaigns too.
@@MrWednesday21 I hadn't seen those, but being more of a Deadlands fan, that is how I knew about her being in TTRPGs :)
I AGREE! I'm most excited to see her here. A passionate, brilliant player.
As someone who gave in and got a dropout subscription because of A Crown of Candy I am SO EXCITED AHHHHHHH
eyyy, same
Same
That Season broke me completly
Everything critical role does is free
HOLY SHIT YES I love how this implies that this is the story Matt wanted to tell, that it was the story he was interested in telling
To see Lou, Zac, and Brennan playing make me know this one is gonna HIT
Anyone hear Brennan break out his kindly old man voice and instantly think he was going to betray the party at some point?
he'll be backstabbing everyone. 😂
Me every new D20 trailer: Not sure if this is my thing...
Me 20 minutes into the first episode: So this is sick as fuck
Can't wait.
Felt the same about a lot of their campaigns after Adventuring Academy
I feel this in my bones
Me with A court of fey and flowers 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
Oh damn, I didn't realize this was a thing beyond myself! I have done this literally every time with D20. I re-watched Fantasy High twice before finally giving in and trying Crown of Candy, then re-watched them both again while avoiding the other seasons cuz they "didn't feel up my alley" or "well the cast is different". But literally every time I've started a new season, it becomes the new funniest thing and I'm referencing it all the time. What is that??
@@nukeninmgt1504 adventuring academy? You mean fantasy high?
So Brennan gives us a prequel to Exandria and Matt gives us his prequel to ACoC? What a time to be alive!
Aabria technically did a prequel to Campaign 3
@@kei2kei
Matt: DMs game with Aabria and Brennan as players together (Ravening War).
Brennan: DMs game with Aabria and Matt as players together (Pirates of Leviathan).
Aabria: DMs game with Brennan as player, DMs game with Matt as character... but not together.
They need to fix this!!
(have Matt as the next guest slot on Roll20's D&D Chaos?)
I love the titles on some of the boxes "Rick Perry (Please feed), "Fae Bullsh*t" and of course "Bird Facts"
"How you want to do this" and Brennan's reaction is priceless
Damn this is so cool! Obvious excitement for the triple DMs but Anjali is perfect for a game like this! I can't wait to see what she does with her character
I haven’t seen her play yet and now I’m excited to “meet” her!
I love Anjali too. She's a fantastic player.
I just know her from EXU. She was way too over the top in there for me, the reason I stopped watching that game. First episode she appeared I tried, second I skipped through all her bits, third she just took so much screen-time that I had to skip half the episode and gave up.
Yes! It’s her first time on D20, isn’t it? Welcome!
@@andrecanis4894 I think so. I haven’t watched Leviathan or The Seven yet but I don’t think she’s in either of those.
A Crown Of Candy prequel? With Matt as GM?! Yes, please!!! Oh, and I love that Brennan covered an apocalyptic event in Matt's world, and now Matt is telling the story of a major cataclysmic event in Brennan's world. So good!
I know this is awesome and all but shout out to the art department for the entirety of the opening scene even though it's only a couple seconds long it's packed with lots fun details
I was so excited to see him deal with Emily's chaotic style of genius, but this is still going to be amazing.
idk why i really want it to be a silly season. i want matt mercer to put on his silly shoes and very seriously play clarabella queen of the horses
I want it to be 'OOPS ALL DMs!'
I mean... is it ever not a silly season XD Crown of Candy and Neverafter are the least silly seasons and still...
@@phaerlaxnever after had the most chaotic energy from the players to spite Brennan desperately wanting an edgy horror season😂
It’s Dimension 20, and Lou and Zac are there. It’s going to be a silly season no matter what.
Matt is incredibly capable of being silly, I mean, Leiland from Bloodkeep was the funkiest little fella
To the uninitiated: Crown of Candy is Game of Thrones with foodfolk, and the Ravening War is Robert's Rebellion.
Emily not sitting at that particular table is crushing my heart into a million pieces. 😭
Yeah but zac
I feel like Mercer's typical table has it's own share of Emily energy. She would mess with him, but not beyond things he has seen before. I am disappointed that there isn't a game that has both Emily and Laura Bailey playing together. We need a mass childishly-immature-chaos table and watch a DM just break.
@@Doug-uf4cs They'd never get to play. It'd be innuendo after innuendo after . . .
But I agree, it would be *amazing* to have each table's resident 13-year old together.
@@Doug-uf4cs Oh Im sure it will happen, either laura will come to d20 or NADDPOD or Emily to CR one day, I wouldn't doubt it one bit
Matt getting to work with Rick Perry is gonna be so heckin' rad.
A prequel to one of my favorite campaigns? Thank you.
The way I actually gasped when I saw him bring out the candy sword 🤩 Matt’s gonna do great!!!
Zac in CoC again just reminds me of his ICONIC line 'where is your bulb now' and just ugh one of the best scenes in all of d20 if not THE best
Agreed that line was delivered perfectly. Just finished ACOC and after that line he immediately became my fav. Can’t wait to see them lines for this one.
I can't wait! A Crown of Candy has a very special place in my heart, I was skeptical at first but it has some of the most powerful scenes in it, I laughed, I cried and it was all amazing.
I just want to make a shout out to the closed captioners for doing this even for a trailer, means a lot.
the effort to move a plastic chain slightly to the side off a cardboard box I'm dying lmao
Brennan and Matt are my favorite dnd players. This is a dream come true
i'm glad that if we're re-visinting A Crown of Candy, both Lou Wilson and Zac Oyama are here
I LITERALLY CALLED IT THAT AABRYIA AND BRENNEN WOULD PLAY IN THIS ONE!! I LITERALLY HOPED THEY WOULD IM SO HAPPY!!!
I love subtitles: " Sinister Music Intensifies"
It's going to be very interesting seeing THREE AMAZING DM's in the dome together. And that last clip has me excited to see Brennan taste his own medicine.
Ahh!!! Brennan got to do a prequel in Matt's world, and now Matt gets to return the favor! I can't believe we're going back to the world of ACOC!!
oh hell yeah, i got goosebumps from the candy sword being pulled, welcome back Candia
I love that the box was labeled "Danger, Keep Out" and we all know why.
I really loved the fact that they did a crossover together! All three of these ABSOLUTE MASTERS OF...derngenz.
Could be cool to have a full-blown superhero type campaign with Matt!
Crown of candy prequel time baby
I just worry for the man. As much work as all 3 of them do, how do they find time to sleep? I can barely have a job and write one campaign, let alone like 3? 4? Idk what the total count is now.
That would be awesome
Would you prefer Matt as PC with Brennan as GM or vice versa?
Personally I love it when Matt is out of the DM's chair and in the thick of it with the rest of the party. Either way, superhero nonsense with those two would be fantastic!
@@bamer6000 Didn't Matt bring up in one of Sam's ad bits that he barely gets any sleep just doing Critrole stuff? Oh and Izzy said Brennan couldn't sleep after Calamity, he was so amped up from their sessions.
I LOVE seeing more of ACOC, absolutely one of my *favorite* campaigns I've ever watched. Able to absolutely devastate me and make me cry laughing in the same 2hr time block
love that the BG is world art! that is the best use of it yet!
Perfect season for mat! High fantasy with good old d20 twist in a world we know and love!!
Crown of Candy is probably my favorite season. I am so fucking excited
I've only gotten into D20 in the past few months, and coincidentally finished Crown of Candy yesterday. Perfect timing and I can't wait.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd get more of my favorite setting, and for them to give the reigns to MATT friggin MERCER!?! I am exploding with excitement
ACOC PREQUEL LETS GOOOOOO
Brennan did a fantastic prequel story for Exandria in Calamity, and now Matt gets to do the same for Calorum. It's like poetry it rhymes.
I really wanted Lou to play his old character from a crown of candy but the possible chance that we could meet young Amethar and his sisters during this campaigns gets me so much more excited.
I am so ready for another Brennan PC
Crown of Candy was one of my top favourite campaigns!! So excited for this prequel!! This entire cast is going to kill it!! ❤️🍭
*delighted bouncing * AHHH this looks AMAZIIING. What a phenomenal table!! And Matt clearly having a ball living his most dramatic life. Here for all of it :D
GM trio AND Lou next to Brennan AND Zac in all his glory AND a new addition to the Dimension 20 fam?????? incredible!!!
This is gonna be awesome, and an absolutely Iconic season
HOLY SH*T. I understand now why people lost their minds during Star Wars and Marvel trailers 🤩🤩🤩🤩
against my better judgement, I’m honestly pretty hyped at seeing Zac play a frazzled academic
like, logically, I know that there’s probably gonna be a bait and switch, but my excitement for eccentric scientist characters is frankly too powerful
It’s really cool seeing Matt do this, especially after Brennan did his Critical Role prequel. Two amazing DMs building each others’ worlds
My favorite D20 series returning with Matt Mercer. I'm super excited.
The way I had to keep myself from screaming. I never thought we’d get to journey back to a crown of candy, I’m so excited!!! All these characters look so fun, this is a stellar cast, may can’t come soon enough!!
I’m so incredibly excited. Matt’s style doesn’t typically resonate with me personally but I’m excited to see his take on this.
Yeah same. I'm interested to see if the D20 style of editing helps me.
@@UchihaKat I've never watched, what is the d20 style of editing? I'm assuming that means it's edited, because Critical Role just pushes play and doesn't edit.
@@user-jt1js5mr3fSo D20 releases their videos weekly pre-recorded and the camera crew puts in visual edits after the sessions, like the Die Results and Death Saves plus character cards when they get introduced. It allows time for cast and crew some breathing room to set up design and apparently helps Rick Perry and the prop crew to make and order figurines and boards.
@@Cross177 hm, doesn’t sound that different, curious how it’s enough to keep some from watching.
@@user-jt1js5mr3f It's also absolutely edited down to be a little more lean and flow nicer. It's hidden very well, but you do notice the difference in the amount of downtime
3:19 ooo, he said the thing from the other thing!!
Oh no, I love EVERYTHING about this. I would have loved any setting they come up with for this. But the fact they chose the "crown of candy" is SO GREAT! And then also the fact that Brennen and Matt are just to boys running apocalyptic prequels in each other's world. And Brennen also being a "Scrumptious Scoundrel". I guess I am only a little sad that Matt will not be running a game for Emily. But maybe the universe is not ready for that much awesome yet.
So excited to see more of Calorum and from different perspectives, especially the Meatlands and Vegetania!
Very excited and curious for how they are doing this. When I saw that it was the Ravening War I thought they had to have Lou reprise Amethar. Then I saw Lou was in the cast and I got even more excited. But looks like they aren't playing Candians and neither Lou nor Zack is reprising their characters. The upside is this keeps death on the table for all of the player characters.
YES! Love that they're trading prequels. This is going to be amazing
THE BOX OF BIRD FACTS IN THE CORNER! HA!
Love Matt returning favour to Brendan and filling one of his worlds history. Cant wait to watch.
Are you kidding me!?Crown of Candy is one of the BEST campaigns 🙌 this is going to be sweeeeet!!! 🍭🍒🥦🥕 Matt will be a good GM for this world 👌
A CROWN OF CANDY SEASON 2 LETSSS GOOOOO!!
LOVE it when brennen and matt get to be in the same projects
Crown of candy prequel and then two days later tears of the kingdom I'm BOOKED for that that week
Brennan's probably excited to be relaxing on the table and just worrying about his character.
This trailer is amazing never have I been so excited to be subscribed to dropout.
I wonder if Brennan's Character will be a mentor figure to a young Belizzabeth Brassica? Maybe have a young Sir Kerradin Deeproot as a bodyguard whilst in Brightgarden?
(pre reveal comment) Ok so the way I see these side campaigns is that D20 approaches the guest GM and is like, "what genre and tone would you like to mess around in?" And I think Matt would want to respect that framework. I think his comfort zone is fantasy (and the promo art shows some towers around his DM screen), but with what twist? Maybe an isekai kinda thing? Maybe a tournament kinda thing? Maybe fantasy but with videogamey parody elements? I don't know why my mind is going the anime/game route lol I suppose it's because of Matt's VA career
They could also be giving him an unexplored bit of the Fantasy High setting to play with, like Brennan got in ExU. I feel like he could shine with a whole Dunking On Elves season in Fallinel.
Whatever it ends up being, hype!
Crown of Candy prequel FUCK YES
So I was right about fantasy vibes and playing around with a piece of the D20 setting, but delightfully wrong about which one. Calorum is very much Matt's vibe, stoked for this
Dude so close at the end with the prequel part, just wrong season.
Can we just take a hot second to consider the box labeled "RICK PERRY (PLEASE FEED)"?
the timing of this bc i just finished watching acoc????? amazing. i'm so excited holy shit
God fucking dammit, I’ve been living in denial about my need to finally get dropout and stop living on the crumbs of content that RUclips has but this has tipped me over the fucking edge
It’s so worth it.
This cast is so stacked
I loved all the labeled boxes, especially the Bird Facts one
I'm so excited; this is a dream come true. My crops are watered, my skin is clear, all the litterboxes in my home have been cleaned. What a joy.
This is going to be a season focused on ChungleDown Bim.
Can I just say, I type ChungleDown so often, that my phone automatically suggests it.
Two households, alike in fibre, in fair Comida, where we set our feet, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil war makes civil juice unsweet.
Just watched the 1st episoooodddeee aaaahhh SO GOOD, you are all brilliant, entertaining, and pure joy to watch. Thank YOU for this gem, cannot wait for next weeks episode.
So I decided to finally watch ACoC in preparation. Lou in a talk-back (recorded after airing, so they had filmed everything): “Yeah, I’m not gonna lie, but when this is over I am personally good with never returning to Comida again.” What did Matt bribe him with, I wonder? Or maybe after Calamity, Comida was more appealing. 😎
This is a perfect campaign to bring Matt on for as DM
This is, and I cannot stress this enough, best case scenario. So excited ❤
Both Brennan and Matt doing a prequel series for each other's worlds about a tense world-changing war. Perfection.
The way I gasped. Sad Matt won't experience Emily's chaos, but very excited to see Anjali!!
The box with "Bird facts" :D
I really wish I was able to afford Dropout again. One day.
I am relatively new to the world of DnD my brother has always played and last year he got maybe Essentials kid because I've been really interested once I found out what it was really about I went and bought the subscription Dropout and I'm very stoked for the campaigns
I do really wanna see Uvano in this wrecking shop as an archer, I also think it's interesting that Brennan is playing a bishop of the bulbian church, because the pontifex from aCoC was a bishop as well during the ravening war, and was promoted to arch bishop in the last days of the war, so maybe some betrayal shenanigans afoot?
The most important box there is the bird facts box
Not the "Rick Perry (Please Feed)" box??? 😂
Brennan traumatizes Matt's players
Matt 'anything you can do I can do better'
Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in
