Hi Shruti !
Basically a contract is formed when there is an agreement between two parties and this agreement is ENFORCEABLE BY LAW. So if the other party does not fulfill their obligations the affected party can sue them and take lawful action against them.
Whereas ,an agreement is just an agreement and it is not enforceable by law : For example if I agree to attend your birthday party and then I don't show up on the said date, you cannot take any lawful action against me because it was just an agreement between us.
