hello egris, I really admire the way you teach tango. your videos are helpful, i have to yet count how many they are. keep posting your videos. And thanks a big thank for these wonderful videos
Confused though, Tango music is in 8 beats per phrase; routine one only has 12 beats, so will get you off time? Or do you just have to do something with 4 or 12 beats to get back on time? Same for 2nd routine, 20 beats, not multiple of 8.
How different ballroom and Argentine tango are. I am wondering whether they appeal to different sorts of people. I can see the skill in the ballroom version, but without the embrace, where's the pleasure? Is it a "visual" vs "kinaesthetic" thing? Very clear instruction video anyway.
Thanks Graham for appreciating this video! Yes, ballroom and Argentine tango are different dances often danced to same music. Each has own place in dancing.
+Aldo Aldana, thanks for good question! "Slow" and "Quick" refers here to time, but not to speed. So closing feet on slow is quite fast and then pause.
Hi very interesting video and nicely done.I would like to ask if is too late for me starting ballrome dance/ standar .. To be honest i dont know nothing about dancing and i am busy studying .. What do you think?
thanks Egils .i sure will keep dancing. i a not good in dancing but i will keep practicing because i have a passion and i know i will get there someday when i can proudly say i am a dancing and till then i will keep my dreams alive.
For sincere beginners, please please please take a minute to put yourselves in the literal position of the learner ie (1 time with the lady back to camera at beginning so that her orientation is always correct for the viewer to mimic and then the same for the gentleman again 1 time through with his back beginning to the camera... ) It would help *significantly* especially when you get into moving the camera angle around 1m30s. Thank you for your effort!
You are 100% correct. I did not realize that that was the same poster (I was unobservant there). That video was very good. I was checking multiple sources to make sure that the technique given was consistent. Judging by your quick reply I believe I will be watching your videos and using them. Thank you so much for your time and care. I am thoroughly impressed.
Other than the original tango from Argentina, never seen a good ballroom tango even at Blackpool standard. Fake emotion with horrible ergonomics. Sorry
No of course it's not Argentine Tango, but so called international Tango, one of 5 international Standart Dances - Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot and Quickstep.
Thanks for the videos I have a dance at my school every 2 to 4 months and one is coming up soon so I am learning this with a friend of mine who will be dancing with me at one of the dances

what was the difference between Q and S, when a slow is to close the legs it's pretty quick, I don't get that part.
+Aldo Aldana, thanks for good question! "Slow" and "Quick" refers here to time, but not to speed. So closing feet on slow is quite fast and then pause.

An insult to tango..
Of course you do realize that this has absolutely no relationship to actual Argentine Tango, right?
No of course it's not Argentine Tango, but so called international Tango, one of 5 international Standart Dances - Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot and Quickstep.
