- Hello friends! Today we are in the Brittany region in the Northwest part of France. Rennes has a history of 2000 years. While there are many protected historical buildings in the city, it is also a vibrant and young city filled with more than 65 thousand students in more than 50 schools of higher education!
Rennes is often a launching point to Mont Saint-Michel, but it's worth spending a couple of days to enjoy the city.

Hi! I’m sorry, I don’t really know if Rennes is a popular retirement city. The city center where we spent our time was full of young students since the city has 19 universities.
I'm from Brittany and I lived in Rennes for a few years; it's a student town and it gets rowdy at times, there are much more tranquil towns around Rennes I would recommend over the city for retiring. For a similar medieval vibe you have Vitré or Fougères very close by. A bit further Dinan or Saint-Malo.
Looks a lovely city but with a lot of boarded up buildings and no end of graffiti. Such a shame.
Sadly, this seems to be the case for a lot of the cities we visited this year. Thanks for watching.
