If you do part 3 Marc-André deserves a notable mention, that guy was insane but also a humble and beautiful human being who did some outstanding stuff for the climbing sport 🙏
@@cook5436 many of the freesoists in these videos didnt die from a free solo, so i guess its not reallyt something the creator cares about (rope failures from base jumps and shit)
How did free soloing ever become a thing? With safety gear, you can still climb, feel the texture of the rock, the beautiful views, but with a much lower chance of death should you lose your grip! What is being taken away if you happen to have safety gear with you?
I can understand them, its like driving super fast with the bike or diving with no backup e.g. They like the risk , if they make the tinyest mistake there gone, this feels different then regular activities. But im on your side, if i would climb alwys with max safety cause i dont want to die, especially if i can lower the risk by 90% just using a damn rope
Can we not do the weird ass music box jingle in the background? Kinda odd to put that kinda music on something where real people died… like you’re reading creepy pasta or some shit
As an inexperienced climber, I embraced the challenge of a free solo climb, conquering the heights without safety gear. However, triumph turned to panic as I reached the summit-elation replaced by the daunting reality that I had no plan for the descent. Faced with the sheer drop below, panic set in. Sweaty palms clung desperately to the rock, and a paralyzing fear gripped me. The once-thrilling heights now mocked my audacity, and a panic attack rendered me motionless on the narrow ledge.

I haven't free soloed a cliff but I have done all 3 in very different but equally risky contexts and can see how other people get caught up in this shit. But Marc-Andé did not fell, he died because of bad climate, that time he was using a rope.
@@cook5436 Only honorable mention? A well received documentary was made of his life and as a free climber. If you get the chance, watch it!

What strikes me is how many of these deaths were on less-difficult routes. That's where complacency sets in.
I don't feel sorry for either of them because it's their own fault.
People want to feel alive, to the point they’ll take insane risks.
He fell 1000 feet and yet people were surprised by his death.
After a fall like that who knows how much of him was actually left.

My heart is certainly not go out to their families. One, it was years to decades ago, and as a family member maniac, they're already prepared.
