- Relive Elias Pettersson's dazzling rookie season with the #Canucks. Scoring 28 goals and picking up 66 points in 71 games, he led the team and set a new franchise rookie record.
Here are some of Petey's accomplishments:
1. Set a Canucks franchise record for most points in a rookie season, finishing with a team-high 28 goals, 38 assists and 66 points.
2. Pettersson not only lead the Canucks, but all rookies in goals (28), assists (38), points (66), power-play goals (10), power-play points (22), game-winning goals (7), and points per game (0.93).
3. He scored his first NHL goal on his first NHL shot in his first NHL game.
4. He's only the fifth player in the last 100 years to score 10 goals in his first 10 games.
5. Petey finished seventh for most points by a Swedish-born player in their rookie season all-time.
6. Pettersson became just the fourth active player to accumulate 40 or more career points within his first 40 NHL games.
7. Petey had the second most productive season by a Swedish-born player 20-years-old or younger. Nicklas Backstrom had 69 points in 2007-08.
8. He had the sixth most productive season by a European-born rookie (aged 20 or younger) in NHL history. The top five: Alex Ovechkin (106 in 2005-06), Evgeni Malkin (85 in 2006-2007), Alexei Yashin (79 in 1993-94), Jari Kurri (75 in 1980-81) and Nicklas Backstrom (69 in 2007-08).
9. Petey recorded 50 points in his first 45 games, putting him sixth on the list of players to have accomplished that in the last 30 years.
10. Petey represented Team Pacific in the 2019 NHL All-Star Game, becoming the youngest Canucks player and just the third Vancouver rookie named to the honour.

3 years ago this guy was playing against my Home club in the Swedish 2nd division and now nhl wow 🇸🇪🇸🇪
Quite a growing curve, lol.
Shows how if you put your mind to something it will come true
Han lirade ju i Lakers också, då följde jag honom
2:23 It shows he is a character guy when the first thing his mother mentions about him is that he stayed the same with all the awards. A good guy who I hope gets a long and successful career
Yeah, that's a big tell this is a guy you want on your team, especially in a leading role. He doesn't even have to be a leader, he only needs to be and perform like himself and be himself. The good parts will rub off on the teammates. Work hard, have a dream, be humble and work hard.
Finally the day is here.
ELITE CALDERSSON.
🏆 🇸🇪
LMAO beauty nickname
binnington robbed
Yea?
Excited to see him win the Calder Trophy tonight! 🙌🙌🙌
I love Petey and Brock’s bromance 💜
yes great chemistry and it shows on the ice
Dillon Noster huh?
@Dillon Noster What are you talking about?
Boeser was born there
@@oops6600 Minnesota is as Swedish as you can get being born in the US, they will be fine. Both understand the cold.
Won't ever get tired hearing the words: "Elias shoots, SCORES!!"
It's crazy how many great players Sweden produces per capita. If you compare the size of Sweden to our nation and other Hockey nations it's tiny, yet so many great players are in NHL and they are a serious foe in WC every time as well.
Those who comes from the northern/mid part of Sweden they're usually talented in winter games. There is a lot of un-scouted "diamonds in the rough" outside the cities. Some make it, some don't...
he is not only really skilled, but he seems to be such a great person. there is just no way that someone could NOT like this guy
I love this kid, he's amazing
Everything about his technique is just crazy good. Super clean wrist shots, fluent slapshots and excellent puck handling coupled with extremely high hockey IQ makes him just outrageously good. Can’t wait to see what he does next year!
Elias is going to be a great NHL player. I'm glad he's a CANUCKS. GO CANUCKS🍻🍻🍻
0:03 I don't know why I find his smirk so damn funny, but it's also refreshing to see the emotion and respect on his face upon hearing his name called by Vancouver.
He's gonna be one of the best players in the NHL
He is one of the best point scorers in the Playoffs.
Got teary eyed watching this, we're so lucky to have him.
And because vancouver drafted him, they secured that he'll never win the stanley cup, except if he gets traded to a good team like boston, st.louis, caps for an example. I feel bad for the sedins because they had to play in vancouver.
@@krugie. why? Give vancouver 2-3 years and they will be a top team and one of the favourite in the NHL u will see. From a sharks/lighting fan
@@patrickschannelpokemonswee3803 U asking why i feel bad for the sedins? Just because they played there for two decades and didn't win the cup even tho they deserved it.
@@krugie. no. i ask why u think that petterson will never win the cup because vancouver will become a great team in 2-3years
@@patrickschannelpokemonswee3803 well i really hope he will get the stanley cup but the state of the team isn't that good
Devils fan here . I love Elias Petterson , nothing but class and skill . Good luck canucks ! 👏🏻
mark paterno if we only had the fans like this in Sweden lol
@@insertnamehere1792 europe has the best fans Sweden also Djurgarden is top
Maximilian Scherer I know what you mean (even tho I like HV more than Djurgården), but what I meant was his way if talking about other teams in a more respectful way.
@@insertnamehere1792 Swedish teams are not talking good about each other?🤔
Maximilian Scherer lmao not really
Great touch by showing who he scored his last goal on...
So much more than a great hockey player. Pettersson shows humility and maturity that is way beyond his years. He gives me so much hope for the future of this franchise. When I watch him play, I feel the same way I did watching the Canucks work their way through the Western Conference in 2011. Thank you, Petey.
Love Elias Petterson it loves what he does you can tell happy he on my Team he the Best.
I remember him being impressed by my football throwins... and look att him now.... im a 911 dispatcher and he is killing it in the nhl... cheeres buddy
@Srecocovic Sure, he earns more money, but I appreciate you do your job for all of us, so don't feel left out. Du får också en kram! Tack för det jobb du gör för att hjälpa oss alla. Glöm inte att du kanske är mer viktig än han är, det råkar bara vara så i imperier att underhållare tjänar mer.
He is from my country! Hell of a beast❤️
Hands down he’s going to be (if not already) one of the greatest players of all time. Great skill and even better character. Sincerely, a bruins fan.
I'm sure he will be amazing but don't pressure him, too many good players have not panned out because of that. Sincerely, a fellow Bruins fan
@@nathanmcclinchey786 cough cough Auston Matthews
Sinz Blade people be saying petey is overrated are obviously forgetting about Mathews
My dads friend is Johnny Canuck so I’ve been allowed to go to all the private areas we’re allowed to go in which is cool I’ve always loved the Vancouver Canucks because I’m a vancouverite I moved to England and whenever I’m back in Canada I always go see a game it’s the first thing I do
Elias is my favourite player in the N.H.L.
"Yeah, google it." - EP40
Given our terrible drafting record, Vancouver is so lucky to have this guy on our team.
Only one year in and he has a Calder, an unreal highlight package of plays and goals you usually only see from vets, some hotheaded chops for the media, and some determination that sparks emotion that fans want to see!
The Hockey Gods haven't forgotten you, Canucks!
And drafting someone that has been a huge Vancouver fan since he was 5 does make it even a little bit better
@@aleex2765 I take it that you are tlking about the picture of him in a Vancouver shirt. He actually stated that he didn't know where that shirt or picture came from. It's a great pic though
“ the first Canook to win this award since Pavel Buray”!? Lol 🤣
Congrats to “Petey” on winning the Calder, well deserved! 👏
Pettersson is my favorite player! (From a caps fan)
mojo Just like the way he plays
Super Typ Klasse Grüße aus Müncheberg/Mark in Germania 👍👍👍👍👍🇩🇪
I remember 2017 and 2018 when Sweden with a population of 10 million won the world championships 2 years in a row. Now I’m waiting for the next time so I can see Elias show of with the three crowns on his chest
Remember when Vancouver fans were pissed when they drafted him
a bit like the draft of the Sedin Brothers - History will thell the diff even this time regarding Elias and the rest of all them Swedes in Canucks....amazing team
Vancouver is full of whiny bitches, it was expected.
remember a time when Vancover fans were ever satesfied at all?
The only thing pissing me off are these coments

Petter is a Happy,Nice,Chill Guy I like him and he’s really funny to😂😂
Love the throwing the stick in the air trick and catching the puck in practice that was sick
Hope the Canucks get a good pick at #10
I think next year the Canucks will be back in the playoffs
This draft is deep as hell, even if we dropped to 12th there are still plenty of studs available.
And they did, great #10 pick
this vid makes waiting for next season even harder. What a player.
😍. His parents are great.
Such a great player! Proud that he represents Sweden and Vancouver
i’m so proud of him💙
Let’s bring the Calder home tonight Pettersson!
As a flames fan I really enjoy watching Petterson play and I love how humble he really is
Respect
Can't wait to see the team next season
Love watching this kid play. So much talent!
Happy for my fellow Swede's success! Hope it continues!
I dont understand how yall think he is really skinny. He is obviously trying his best to gain muscle mass and weight. He looks pretty muscular however his body composition doesnt allow his body to fill out horizontally. He may be skinny but he is very strong.
I could see EP winning both a Hart and Selke before he turns 30. Kid possesses a complete game
He will be the first player to still play at 100, where he comes from they live up to 500 years. #Alien
I was smiling the whole time...im excited for the future too petey
8 minutes 45 seconds of the commentator saying "Patterson shoots, scores!"
Strong Performance
man these behind the scenes videos about players makes me more a fan of the players than the teams
Im not a Hockey fan at all so I never knew you could be so lean and still so good in the worlds best league hrm.
edit: 8:08 and that was sick af
Was sitting behind the net on Petterssons first goal, was gonna take my head off if there was no net or glass
We love this guy.
What a great time to be alive. It’s the middle of summer and I’m already excited for the upcoming season.
Canucks youtube channel is the best
@AKsleepygirl nah what about their all access videos and their hype up songs?? I know that the Oilers and flames don't have that type of stuff
Insane boy! Greetings from the home country! Lycka till Elias! /Brynäsare/Ducks fan ;P
Our prince and our Calder winner
What a talent... He's great.
Absolute beauty
sign this man till hes 80
What a class act.
Wrist shot like Sacic, slap shot like Bobby Hull, one-timer like Malkin yet humble like ‘the great one’ himself. Proud to be your countryman! Go Eli, go Canucks!
Love this guy
Still goosebumps today.
Calder bound lets go, such a bright future
Vi älskar dig elias!
This guy will be a god in 2-3 seasons
Finally something to be excited about for Van.
He is that type of player no one can hate. Full respect good player. just like the sedins
I remember when they drafted him I was like "WHO?" no ones saying who now really glad this guy is a Canuck and I hope one day is our captain
He`s just fkn awesome 🇸🇪👍🇦🇺
He’s my hero
Älskar Elias Petterson
I can wait for next season
2nd best selling jersey while playing for one of the polarizing teams. Every video I watch of him gives me chills. I always think what if we won the draft in 2017? Would Benning have had the ballz to draft him still? So glad we will never know. What is truly amazing is the love he gets from orher teams fans and broadcasters. You know your good when other players want to come play here because of the Petey factor. Cant wait till October.
Can't wait to see him play next season with the new AI update.
I’m so Happy
Exciting season coming up
You rock dude
We all love him
its like the commentators go on repeat every time elias scores
They don't have time to say anything else, because when he scores the puck is on his stick for a micro second.
The future looks bright for the Canucks
8:12 - How?!
skill
Let's put it this way: He's one of the most interesting players to watch in the league right now.
Pettersson.. shoots.. scores!!
I love you petty
Elias is a stud
good job
Good video
3:30 im sorry but what in the world was that? This guy is fkn insane
happy birthday!!!!!!!
imagine the NHL without all the Swedish players, what a joke that would be
What a great league that would be the Swedes just make the league soft
Jim Beam have you seen kronwall?
And then you look at the Swedish teams, and laugh. Get dummied almost every year. I love Swedes, but this is such an ignorant comment.
lukas pedersen one Swede wow
@@jimbeam7248 are you saying Börje and Peter Forsberg were soft?
Pettersson is ofc going to win
He looks like a little boy but goddamn he's got some serious game and balls. Just to attempt some of the things he does during your first season in the league is f-in impressive!
Pettersson shot.. scores:)
And now a Calder trophy 🏆
petey's gonna be the next canucks star player
Its so epic
#1 Calder!
I liked the walk with elias
How good is your shot
Elias Petterson: Yes.
I love his dads english with a swedish touch
