There is a painter's tape called FrogTape that works exponentially better than the regular blue stuff. I paint houses, and we only use blue tape for industrial purposes, like concrete. For interior trim, we use FrogTape. it has a gel adhesive that leaves behind a very sharp line. A little more expensive, but worth it.
jordan wright I know holyshi...but I think I found the ingredient to do glitter shoes now though I'ma see if this glue works didn't know they had different glues
Hi Bridget, Mine is bumpy from the glitter. The mod podge is protecting the glitter from falling off not creating a smooth surface. I still use mine years later. 😊
Hey! I've made mugs using paint pens (oil-based) which I found at Michael's, but in order for it to be dishwasher safe you have to bake them in the oven so you might want to do that before the glitter step. :)
Yes, hand washing is gentler than the dishwasher. I don't know of a technique to change normal Mod Podge into dishwasher safe Mod Podge. These are great for Christmas Presents.
There isn't a way to make normal mod podge dishwasher safe because they use different chemical elements to make the mod podge depending on what it's used for. But you can buy dishwasher safe mod podge! :)
28 days? Id rather just go buy a new cup O.O if you still cant use it for 28 days whats the point in letting it dry 2-3 hours? Or can you still wash it by hand? Is that only referring to dishwasher or washing in general? Maybe i misunderstood

Thanks for the tip! :) I haven't heard of FrogTape, I will have a look at Bunnings.
This is a fantastic idea! Is the mug still as awesome-looking as it was back in January?
Yep! When using the dishwasher. Always the top rack of the dishwasher. :-)
Thanks for sharing!

My line came out so clean.. very happy :)
Fantastic Joanne! 🙂
Can they wash the mug in the sink before 28 days? Are is that only for the dishwasher?
Awesome
Thank you Shees! xx
Does that wear off eventually? And will it easily peel off if someone would scratch it?
I wash mine in the top rack of the dishwasher, Haven’t tried scratching it off, it is only Mod Podge.
You inspired me to make lots :) i have made so many glasses and mugs now.
That is awesome to hear Joanne!
This is so cute too - what a great gift to make :)
+Munch Monday Yeah, I think it would look awesome with hot pink glitter!
Needs to be cured for 28 day for dishwasher safe but cup cannon be wash regular?
Can I use polycrylic for the finishing touch, instead of mod podge?
no
I am currently making one of these. Does it ever get smooth? Or stay bumpy from the glitter
Hi Bridget, Mine is bumpy from the glitter. The mod podge is protecting the glitter from falling off not creating a smooth surface. I still use mine years later. 😊
did it hold up in the dishwasher after the 28 days cure time? also are these microwavable?
Hi Meg, Yes, no worries with the top shelf of the dishwasher. But these are NOT Microwaveable because of the glitter.
Do you need to use a specific type of glitter?
Hi Arjin, No, any glitter will do.Thanks for watching! :-)
Ali Coultas thanks for replying so fast. I love you videos. I instantly subscribed.
Thanks for subscribing! Very kind of you. :-)
Pull the tape upwards and you will get a cleaner line than that :)
good
Thanks! :-)
Nice
But will the glitter be smooth or does it feel rough after it’s all dry?
Rough! 😊
Love Happy Ali thanks for replying
great video thanks :)
Thanks
Awesome :)
+Travel Nomad Thanks for watching!
Have you washed it yet? if so, did the glitter stay put?
Yep no worries. I always put the cup on the top shelf.
Can u put sharpie on it?
Hello Hanna, I have heard of an oil based sharpie working but not a standard sharpie. Happy crafting! :)
+Ali Coultas ok thank you! I'm going shopping today at Michael's, do u think they'll have that stuff?

So how many coats of mod podge did you apply?
3 coats. :-)
If you seal it with epoxy it will cure in 3 days and be smooth and shiny.
Krysten Kirkland. Is epoxy the same as resin?
yes it is, @@widowsjars1175
Is it microwave safe?
I do not know if that question was asked I'm in a time crunch: don't have time to read threw all the comments I apologize.
awesome...subbed you!
Welcome! Thanks for watching! xx

What brand of glitter did you use?
Ruby Rock-it Glitter. It's what my local Spotlight store stocks.
Have you tried this on a yeti tumbler or know of someone that has a RUclips video showing it being done?
G'day Lori, No I haven't. Hope you find a video. :)
Definitely two years late but have you revisited this idea? There’s tons of videos doing tumblers now
Is it washi
this gave me a great idea! I wish I was able to post the photo. it's just the 28 day cure time that's the killer.
Hi Alana, I would love to see a photo! Are you on Instagram? It's a long time but the 28 days is worth is to make it dishwasher safe. :-)
Ali Coultas I am. aCraftyBuster
I only have one posted right now but there will be more soon!

The 28 days is to make it top shelf dishwasher safe. :-)
I used 4 coats of this on a cup and it still came off in the dishwasher. Just so you know this stuff is far from flawless.
I was wondering... Thanks
