MBM’s “On The Road” #5 - 212cc and wheelies

  • First stop on our 2000 mile, eastern US trip….let’s see @BartsGrage 212cc Icebear Champion. Jason has built a crazy fast bike, but due to his excellent riding ability, he takes the beast. 50+ mph wheelies is a norm for him, on this bike. Hopefully, I included info on the bike to answer questions, but if not, hit me up in the comments.

PS Nice wheelies Jason, super smooth.

    • @MiniBikeMike

Not reliable? I can’t speak for the bigger bore stuff, 190/212, but the 125cc Lifan’s are extremely reliable. I have one with 8000 miles on it. I know of others with 15,000+ on them.

@@MiniBikeMike Hey, little update 3 months later after having worked on the bike more. I was wrong about the failures. It was just a stretched starter chain from the stock decompressor spring being too weak and the kick start bolt stripped probably for the same reason. The previous owner did put a new gearbox in but they didn't say why but I've had no issues with the new one after 1000+ miles. It does like to slip out of 2nd into neutral but time will tell if that's an early sign of failure.
I'd like to know how he can power wheelie at 50mph though. I have the stock 190 2 valve in a pit bike frame and can barely clutch it up at over 15mph.

Your bike looks real nice and you do great riding.
I dont know if its the camera or what but it looked like your rear wheel wasnt straight up and down.. I could be wrong.
I had a minibike with that issue a couple of yrs ago.
It was the single speed centrifugal clutch minibike with a 212 Predator engine.
It would have speed wobbles from that issue.
I see u dont have wobbles tho.
My misalignment was in the front wheel, so I cut the front forks all apart and rewelded them straight.
The bike soared like an eagle after that haha.

Water under the bridge for me……I built a few 190’s about 12 to 15 years ago, when the 190’s first hit the market. They’re cool, but I’m more into keeping my bike look like a stock, vintage CT70 and that’s tough to do with the bigger engines. Plus, I really don’t have a desire to go that fast any more. Too old, got that out of my system a long time ago. 👍🏻

@@MiniBikeMike I'm referring to the clones. A vintage honda I'd Def keep stock for obvious reasons. That's the beauty of the clones. It doesn't matter what you do to them. The most I'd do to a real ct70 would be put a fi honda 125cc engine in it. Kinda like a resto mod. That would be pretty cool imo. I wish we could get the new dax here.
