I have to say I was stunned at how low it started just 12,000 years ago. There were probably more lions (or even Dodos) back then. Pakistan wasn't formed until 1947 though, so what that was doing on the chart before then baffles me - those figures should be with India until 1947, shouldn't they?
it uses modern day countries to refer to the regions they are in now, as in it calculates how many people lived in the area that is modern day pakistan
Tell me you are Indian without telling me you are Indian. If we went off true modern data, then none of the countries at the start would have existed (apart from a couple). There was no such thing as Russia, Turkey, Australia, Columbia in 7000BC.

Ukraine was part of the soviet union until its collapse in 1988.
Philippines population in the year 2000 was 70 million according to their statistics department.

These stats are off now. Mexico is way less populated. France, Germany, America and Britain are more populated do to refugees. A lot less Russians, Palestines, and Africa do to wars.
