THIS is the ending we all deserve. and it makes sense; I mean: if from the very start both Nathan and Jefferson are arrested then Max wont have to constantly time travel (which is what caused the tornado). This is perfect! Bravo!
Dear andythebestok, many thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, many people agree with you that this ending fits smoothly in the narrative of the game and has given all of us LiS fans a far more satisfying ending.
Dear andythebestok, DONTNOD got themselves confused when they used Chaos theory as a foundation for LIS, it only applies to deterministic non-linear systems. That doesn't apply to LIS as it's not time travel. They should have taken a leaf out of Back to the Future's book and concentrated on temporal causality and quantum mechanics. This ending is possible.
Dear economyboy, thanks for the response. Yes Chaos theory really is the most misunderstood theory only for use in deterministic non-linear systems. If just one person, Nathan, Chloe and of course Max with her time travel or anyone else in this dimension shows even the tiniest vestige or superficial increment of freedom of will then the deterministic requirement is overturned. Then we look upon the non-linear part of this theory which requires that the result of an action is inversely proportional to its progenitor. We can't say if the result of Chloe being alive or dead are the same as, lesser than or greater than her being alive or dead. so that means the non-linear part is also out. And even if it isn't, which it is, it would have to apply to everyone's life equally, which means that any life taken or saved would or wouldn't bring the storm etc This whole failed attempt at the application of Chaos theory just disintegrates over the course of 5 chapters until we the players are just left with a ridiculous mess. Such a pity.
Dear Elle, thanks for your comment. From a genuinely informed point of view It's completely legitimate to reject both DONTNOD endings to LIS for demonstrably being intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt. Now that this alternate finale exists, no-one going to be forced to choose between sacrificing Chloe or Arcadia Bay ever again. DONTNOD does not have the right or authority to force a choice between two things which are of equal subjective value i.e. Chloe and Arcadia Bay, when we the players have an inalienable right to both of them.
@@nickmattedwards I think this choice should only be available depending on what relationships you choice and how well you do the the puzzles in the game.
Dear FX thanks for your comment, but just what would you Chloe remember? Her murder at the hands of Nathan Prescott or her murder at the hands of Mark Jefferson? What about 5 long horrific years trapped in a dying quadriplegic body? The great poet Christina Rossetti was right when she wrote, 'Better by far you should forget and smile. Than that you should remember and be sad.'
I wish there was an option for them to somehow burry Rachel elsewhere. It was her dream to finally escape Arcadia Bay and it's so horrible that she died there, never being able to leave :(
Dear Luca, thanks for your comment. The location of Rachel's burial in this alternate finale was based upon having very little information about her as an individual and nothing of any consequence about her parents. If it should have come to pass that I had created this ending after LIS:BTS was published and we knew so much more about Rachel then I may very well have chosen a different location. It was Rachel's spirit animal, the large Blue Butterfly, which endowed Max with her time travel powers in order to save Chloe's life and bring Jefferson, Nathan and Victoria to justice. As such it was Rachel's spirit who was successful at protecting both Max, Chloe and Arcadia Bay. As a result the spirit of Rachel Amber can rest in peace with all of Arcadia Bay as her memorial, there are few greater epitaphs. Be that as it may, should it ever come to pass that I devised a way to grant Max the opportunity to challenge fate, just one more time, and save both William and Rachel, then I would.
Dear AsPessoas, if it should ever come to pass that I find a way to grant Max the opportunity to challenge fate, just one more time and save both William and Rachel, then I would. In the meantime I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy as the spirit of Rachel Amber rests in peace with all of Arcadia Bay as her memorial.
To save rachel she'd have to find a picture of her before she went to the party but it would be way more complicated because max would have to find evidence that Jefferson drugs and murders women and it would have to be enough to arrest him so that nathan would never come up with the idea to drug rachel in the first place.
Dear Kisuu, this alternate finale has been embraced by the overwhelming vast majority of its international viewer-ship as a legitimate additional or complete replacement ending. It's based on how time travel works in the adventure genre as as such is exponentially more accurate than the ridiculous DONTNOD endings. I've installed it into my PC version of LIS some this is the ending which takes place in the game. Thanks for watching.
Dear Matty, I do know how to grant Max the opportunity to challenge fate, just one more time and save the lives of both William Price and Rachel Amber. Though I'm going to have to create it from scratch...
I love this ending, only I feel like Victoria should not be expelled from school as she technically didn't do anything wrong. Ilegally anyways l, she bullied and hurt people, but she did seem remorseful to me about Kate. I also would obviously would want Rachel and William to live. And finally I'm a Warren lover ❤️😊
Dear Link, thanks for your comment, yes indeed this alternate finale should have been available for the international LIS fandom to earn. It represents an ending which is not only statistically the most probable but also the fates which Max, Chloe, Kate, Joyce, the spirits of William and Rachel deserved.
Dear Discos, thanks for your comment and support, yes indeed this alternate finale is so exponentially more likely and logical than the DONTNOD 'endings'. Especially when taking into consideration that Max closes the time-loop by returning to the time and place wherein and whereof her time rewind powers first manifested and uses Jefferson's own number one rule of photography against him 'Always take the shot' to capture Nathan.
Dear Bandit, thanks for your comment and support. The players of LIS deserved the right to be able to earn an ending with some humanity to it. In view of DONTNOD's failure, I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy.
@@mbalazs3544 its an alternate ending,is not an official DONTNOD ending, this just show us how would it be if u get to save both chloe and the town, which this alternate ending is actually much more sense and it should have been a choice in the game if ur choices have done correctly
Dear rated, thanks for your comment and I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy. You're right in what you've said, everyone's suffered more than enough in Arcadia Bay, it's time for a bright light to shine in a dark place.
Dear Quarter Coyote, thanks for your comment. It seemed so obvious to the point of being self evidential that the circular nature of this saga should conclude where it began, with Max taking a photograph in the ladies room at Blackwell. It's at that time and place that the Monday to Friday time loop that Max's stuck in was created and it's where it needs to be ended.
Dear sorucha, many thanks for your comment. Yes indeed for those players who've never been exposed to moral choices like this before LIS does indeed represent an event which could lead a person to new mental horizons. Having spent so much of my time absorbing, thinking, explaining and rationalising morality and ethics I was not limited to the obscene framework of Determinism that DONTNOD used for the failed 'justification' of the events in it's game. Having evolved far past the petty remit of such a perverse philosophy I am not bound by its credo and thus this alternate finale was brought into existence out of respect for a world in which the better angels of our natures take full flight.
Dear Ari, thanks for your comment and support, though arguably this ending is more canon than the canon. Having removed the DONTNOD endings from my PC version of LIS and installed this instead, this is the choice I get to make and the actual ending that the characters get to have in the game. I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy. It is a far, far better ending than DONTNOD have ever done; it is a far, far better finale than the game has ever known. If the day went to grey, then dare to dream a rainbow, for it's as real as you want it to be, what the heart desires the mind transpires.
Nick at Arcadia Bay I’ve read most of your replies in the comment section to be able to say that you have a beautiful mind and heart. Thank you for creating this alternative ending for us, it’s exactly what we need.
Dear beatlesbeats Upon the ledger book of Strange Is Life ‘You shall not’ was writ in blood Though our tears have come And washed away that deficit Now I ask; Can it come to pass? That in the credit column yet Be writ the names William and Rachel.
Dear Daphne, thanks for your kind words of support. It's true that this finale is what the players and fans of LIS should have been able to earn for themselves.
I feel like this should actually be an ending you can get but actually getting it should be SUPER hard. Like literally every little choice you make has to be perfect. And if you manage do that you get the option to save them both.
Dear Amelia, thanks for your comment, yes an ending option that could be earned by a player on a replay through earning 100%, making all of the least harmful decisions, speak to every character etc.
WHY DIDN'T THIS HAPPEN? THINK ABOUT IT ALL MAX HAD TO DO WAS: GO BACK IN TIME TO THE BATHROOM SCENE TAKE A PICTURE WHILE NATHAN WAS WAVING A GUN AROUND IF HE NOTICES, REWIND A BIT TO BEFORE SHE TOOK IT (BUT SHE'D STILL MAINTAIN THE PHOTOGRAPH) PRESS THE FIRE ALARM TELL PRINICIPAL WELLS AND SHOW HIM THE PHOTOGRAPH BAM.
Dear Garden Rose, thanks for your support. Yes you're right, this ending is so much more exponentially more likely to happen than the two intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt 'endings' that DONTNOD contrived into existence. This situation that we all find ourselves in would be laughable, if it wasn't so offensive. Be that as it may I hope that this finale brings you some joy and peace.
Dear Katie, what I don't know is how a games studio as talented as DONTNOD could experience such a prodigious failure of judgement and dereliction of duty in regards to ending their game. Be that as it may in regards to your question, It's not enough for Max top save Chloe, she needs to be able to instigate an investigation into him and bring pressure upon him directly. Giving Principal Wells the photograph of Nathan threatening Chloe with a gun pushes him past his limit and when he confronts Nathan in regards to this incident Nathan, who's already at psychological breaking point, has a breakdown and confesses to the principal everything that he's been doing.
@@nickmattedwards thing is, she still time travelled to save chloe, which caused the tornado. The whole point of going back was to let destiny run it's course. Even the tiniest change could have massive impacy
Dear Sirpentine, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately the structure and logic of the cause and effect of LIS is a mess due to DONTNOD attempting to use Chaos Theory as some form of justification for their game What can be taken from the contents of the game is that Max has used her time rewind powers too much during the 5 day, Monday to Friday, time loop that she's travelling in. Metaphorically speaking, if a time-line were a very long carpet, Max's been walking up and down on the same part of it and it's beginning to wear thin. It's all of the time travel which destabilises the natural world and causes the events leading up to the storm, the whale beaching, the mass bird deaths, solar eclipse and snow fall etc. Max herself realises such when she turns to Chloe near the end of episode 5 and states "This is my storm. I caused this... I caused all of this." If I use the metaphor of waves standing in for time, then if two waves of equal size and strength meet each other in a head on collision out on the ocean, then they cancel each other out. Max returning to the time and place wherein and whereof she was first gifted her time control powers from Rachel Amber's spirit animal, the Blue Butterfly and closing the time loop by establishing a new and stable time-line with Chloe alive and well in represents the second time wave which nullifies the first. In regards to 'destiny' and 'fate' there's nothing to suggest that tomorrow is a determination, rather than a decision. One soul more, Chloe in this case, isn't going to unravel existence. For a sand dune cannot be unbalanced by the addition or subtraction of a single grain of sand.
Dear Beniscreative, thanks for your comment. I find it increasing difficult to reconcile the rapid passage of time, when so much feels like it happened but a few months ago and yet it's over 4 years since I published this alternate finale.
Dear Squek, thanks for your support, it seems to be an emerging consensus of opinion that this alternate finale is demonstrably more canon than the 'canon', more genuine than the real McCoy.
Dear merni, thanks for your kind words and support. Yes indeed this is the finale that Max, Chloe, Kate, Joyce, the spirits of William and Rachel, as well as the international LIS fandom all deserve.
the ending of this game depresses me so much and I can’t sleep after playing, but this ending gives me something to think about so I won’t have to be so depressed
Dear Jason, thanks for your comment. For all of DONTNOD'S prodigious talent for creating an enthralling story, they don't seem to have a clue when it comes to creating a coherent plot. We were all told at the very beginning of LIS that the game was about player choice and that we should choose wisely. Though in reality it makes absolutely no difference how a player plays LIS, what decisions they make, everyone gets the same ending, no matter what. Players have stated that they may as well have just played the very beginning of chapter 1 and then gone straight to the end of chapter 5 for all of the difference, i.e. none, that it made to how the game ended. Which was one hell of a disrespectful kick in the teeth to the majority of players, who like me, had agonised over their choices and the consequences of those choices. That's misrepresentation on a grand scale. DONTNOD also attempted to force players to participate in an intellectually dishonest and ethically bankrupt finale choice diktat sacrifice Chloe or Arcadia Bay. In that I understand choice better than DONTNOD, in the presence of an incomplete and disenfranchising 'choice' I chose not to choose. Instead I chose to choose a different choice. I for one refused to dignify that dictatorship with my participation as there's nothing honourable about a no-win scenario. No-one has the right, power or authority to force any of us to choose between two things of equal subjective value when we have a right to both. Players had earned the right to have both Chloe and Arcadia Bay by helping Max master the powers given to her by Rachel Amber's spirit animal, the blue butterfly. It seems that the only lesson DONTNOD were trying to teach was 'you are powerless, you do not matter, your thoughts and feelings don't matter, your attempts to do the right thing don't matter and you have no real choice. Well that's one hell of a f*cked up lesson. I have removed the DD endings from my PC version of LIS and insatlled this instead, so it's the finale that the characters get to have, in the game. I hope that it brings you some peace.
Nick at Arcadia Bay thanks a lot, I agree so much, I loved the story up until the last decision you say it so well when you said it makes us as players feel insignificant. You gave us all an ending we needed 👏 👏 👏
Dear Julia, thank you for your kind words and support. In all honest truth it was my heart that created this alternate finale out of respect for the game of LIS and its international fandom. This is the ending that Max, Chloe, Kate, Joyce as well as the spirits of William and Rachel deserved. In regards to spirit animals I know that there is an ongoing debate within the fandom, as well as DONTNOD's explanations. Based on the actual evidence within the game, Max wears the Doe on her clothes, sees the Doe and tries to photograph it in the American Rust junk yard and when she mentions the Doe to Samuel the Blackwell janitor he confirms that the Doe is indeed Max's spirit animal. In regards to the Blue Butterfly it seems only logical and rational that it is Rachel Amber. She arrives at the ladies room to help Max save Chloe's life and uncover the truth about her own death by firstly furnishing Max with her time rewind powers and secondly ensuring that Max has her camera at the ready to photograph Nathan. The Blue butterfly reappears one last time, when Rachel Amber's body is reburied with dignity and respect in the cemetery. It's as if she's giving Max a sign to let her know that now that Chloe is safe and her killers have been brought to justice that she can rest in peace with all of Arcadia Bay as her memorial, there are few greater epitaphs. I'm enormously grateful that this has brought you some peace. I feel that I have more work to do in Arcadia Bay. I may yet create and upload walkthroughs and other content for LIS and LIS:BTS. Thanks.
Dear Julia, sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your comment. Yes there's a lot of animal symbolism in LIS. It's tied to the fact that Arcadia Bay is ancient native American land and they have a strong animal based mythology. There's a Tobanga totem pole in the grounds of the Blackwell dormitories and the word 'Arcadia' itself in ancient Greek refers to the land in which the Gods of Nature resided, in modern terms mother Nature. There's been considerable debate as to what each animal represents in LIS and as to which character they relate. For the purposes of this finale Max's spirit animal is the Doe as she wears it on her clothes, it guides her to where Rachel is buried and the Blackwell Janitor Samwell confirms it's her spirit animal. Rachel is the Blue Butterfly as it appears twice, firstly in the ladies room to give Max he time rewind powers and secondly at Rachel's funeral to let max and Chloe know that her spirirt now rests in peace. As for the other characters, Joyce is the whale and Kate is the rabbit, Samwell is the squirrel. The list goes on and on.
Dear Stephen, thanks for sharing your feelings in regards to watching this alternate finale. I'm grateful if this creation brings you some peace and joy.
Dear Milk, thanks for sharing. I was outraged and indignant by the intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt endings DONTNOD concluded LIS with. It's genuinely legitimate to reject them for being unrepresentative of the game and it's genre. They're a perverse and contrived diktat masquerading as choice. I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy.
I've only played the game a few times and became so Emotionally attached to the 2 characters and hella sad when you have to Choose between killing your bestie and or Killing your Home Town! Thank you for this Video
Dear Monghan, when a child loses a parent at a young age, as Chloe has, especially when they were extremely close it can destroy that person's confidence leaving them with no sense of certainty over anything.
Dear Frances, thanks for your comment. We don't know about what David's been through other than something to do with the army. His inability to teak about it and his other strange behaviours, paranoia, obsession, aggressive outbursts are all typical of someone suffering from untreated post-traumatic stress disorder. Following on from the relief of finding out what's been happening at Blackwell, i.e. Kate's abduction, Rachel's killing, etc both of which have been driving David to distraction because he absolutely knows somethings going on but not what, paired with an effective treatment program would allow David to be able to calm down and interact with people in a balanced healthy way.
Dear Creepycandy, Rachel's spirit animal, the Blue Butterfly, was at her funeral remember? She's free now of the constraints of this mortal coil, to fly wherever her heart desires. She rests in peace, with all of Arcadia Bay as her memorial.
Also, the deer spirit that appeared in the junkyard where Rachel's body was buried, when Chloe & Max found the body the deer bowed its head and disappeared. Rachel is at peace.
Dear PVN Smoothy thanks for your comment, I'm very grateful that if in discovering this legitimate alternate finale you've found an ending that brings you some peace and joy. The spirit of William Price can rest in peace as Chloe's life has been saved and she now has a brilliant future to look forward to with Max, the love of her life. Now that Rachel Amber's murders have been brought to justice and the lives of Kate, Victoria, Chloe and Max's have been spared, her spirit can rest in peace with all of Arcadia Bay as her memorial, there are few greater epitaphs than that.
Dear Rizky, thanks for your support. I hope that this alternate ending brings you some peace and joy. I'd love to work with Square Enix to make this finale available to the international LIS fandom, it would also pave the way for many more Max and Chloe adventure games for all of us to play.
@@nickmattedwards I would really love to see you in the international LIS fandom....Btw how did you manage to put 1 more choices in the game or was it already in the game like an Easter Egg event?
This isn't some cheap ending that is only a dream, it makes sense, this could've happened. But I get not putting it into the game since it would be such an easy choice, unless you had to unlock the choice.
Dear Speedy, thanks for your words of support and appreciation. This is the alternate finale choice that players should have been able to earn for themselves. The DONTNOD endings as they stand are intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt. They don't represent the tenets of the genre, the characters or the story arc. One respected review of LIS referred to them as being '...a big hot mess...', which I've always taken as being a metaphorical reference to a more colourful description that they weren't allowed to publish. DONTNOD have earned themselves the dubious honour of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It's the first time that I've come across a pair of endings to a game of substance that are somehow less than the sum of their parts, as if that gaming studio somehow found a way to make 2+2=3.
Dear Speedy, thanks for your response. It's okay to join the ranks of those who've expressed some surprise as to the comprehensive nature of my replies. LIS is a game worthy of some debate and discussion. Certain aspects of it's existence cannot be adequately represented in short stock phrases without doing them some injustice. Thanks for watching.
@@nickmattedwards And thank you for posting these, these are pretty cool alternatives. I thought the game was already great until these videos opened me more.
This seriously made me tear up. this is an amazing idea and, is exactly the ending you deserve if you were kind in the game eg. saved kate, made victoria believe you, etc.
Dear Fibidust, many thanks for sharing your reaction to this alternate finale with all of us. I hope that it brings you some peace and joy, it's the ending which the international LIS fandom deserved the right earn for themselves.
I think this ending should be very difficult to get to the point where it's only possible with a second playthrough. If it were an option you get no matter what then everyone would choose it thereby making the choices less difficult to make.
Dear Bigby, thanks for your comment. Yes this alternate finale should have been a choice that a player could have only achieved and unlocked on a replay if they got 100% i.e. took all optional photos, saved Kate, didn't allow Chloe to harm Frank or Pompidou, talked to all characters, made all of the least harmful decision etc.
I’m at the end of episode 2 about to make a three way choice, 1. Nathan dosed her (Kate Marsh) 2. David bullied her or 3. Jefferson made her cry. I’ve played through the game before but I’m trying to make the choices where Nathan doesn’t die. In past playthroughs, he was always killed by Jefferson.
Bit late but i just got the game on sale. I only kind of agree that it should be a second playthrough. This is something that would be very difficult/expensive to achieve (as in develop) but what bothered me is Max never tries to find the limits of her power. (Granted, till the end she has no indication that there is any.) In the William timeline she tries it once and gives up. i was going "how about establishing some connection? trying to give herself something to act on to stop Chloes accident?" She could have made it an annual thing that she came back and stayed with the Price family around that date and that she takes a photo each year or at least called Chloe regularly (with a photo before each phonecall.) And it is the same with the end and the tornado. How much is too much? Is she not able to time travel at all without causing it? Is she able to do it once in a while? Can she do it as much as she likes as long as the timeline stays about the same? Can she get away with a small tornado by just doing something like what is in this video? Yes, Max is emotional at these points but emotional can drive you in different directions. I guess my wish would be a third option at the end of the first playthrough where Max goes "No! i can fix this!" and that is the start of a second playthrough where the first choice is how Max tries to limit herself, "fewer changes or smaller changes? Maybe less frequent changes?" and if you fail you end up back at the tornado scene. (possibly with a smaller tornado.) Of course it would require the developers to allow there to be a happy(happier) ending. If we want to lock it behind extra playthroughs, maybe each playthrough would only unlock a clue. "maybe if i do this....."
well or you can just replay ep5 to fix everything.. i didnt know about this option.. so Arcadia bay had to go. so might go for it to make me feel better. but im thinking just to replay the whole game and try keep everyone i can alive and do the less fuckups i can to keep everyone happy
@@nickmattedwards In one of the dreams you´re at the park that show in the ending but without chloe so its make me think its another alternative reality not to mention that you wake up in the classroom so its an alternative reality where chloe die and the twiste happen anyway so she saw that everything she did was wrong and used the time travel again so for me the only true ending is the one where you save chloe...
Dear RJ, thanks for your comment of support. Kate is a beautiful character in LIS, well worth the effort to save. First time around I failed and was so upset that I restarted the game from scratch at episode 1. As far as Wells is concerned he's unfortunately a compromised man, he's made something of a deal with the Devil trying to get Nathan Prescott through high school, but it's clear from his actions, mannerisms and heavy drinking that he's reached the limit of his flex. Wells uses the money from the Prescott family to increase and maintain the facilities at Blackwell as well as create scholarships for pupils of merit without financial means to otherwise attend the college. I'm not making apologies or excuses for him, but I can clearly see the position he's in and have some sympathy, if he can improve and maintain the college for the students, teachers and by association the town of Arcadia, then everyone will feel the social and financial benefit. And if he has to hand hold just one disturbed teenager through the process to achieve all of that then that's what he's willing to do. All of that goes by the wayside when Max presents him with a freshly taken still drying Polaroid photo of Nathan threatening Chloe with a gun in the ladies room at Blackwell. He's past is limit and so is Nathan when presented with the photo, and so it all unravels, the druggings, the abductions, the abuse of Kate, the Darkroom, the death of Rachel Amber, the evil of Mark Jefferson. It's heartening to see a man like Wells, someone of hidden honour and repressed virtue rediscover the centre of his being and do what needs to be done.
I may be a few months late but Nicholas, This was quite well-crafted and I actually believed that this was an ending I simply did not get the option to do and thought maybe there was some actual stuff that you had to do in order to get it. Then I read into the description and my heart kind of sank, but this is the ending of my choice. But, I had to settle with bae over bay.
Dear Victory, you're not too late for the party, though please be advised that as far as the overwhelming vast majority of the international viewing community of this ending are concerned, it has replaced the canon endings as the real ending.
Dear MLS 2020, thanks for the feedback. I find the exploration of player choice to be quite a fascinating phenomenon to witness. I wanted to give back choice to the players of LIS, something that I felt that DONTNOD took away with their clinical binary endings. That's why I included this option on the choice screen rather than just cut to that which I perceived as a better ending. It's interesting that some players have asked as to why I should do that stating, and this is their metaphor not mine, that if they were asked to choose between a cookie (Chloe), a pack of cookies, (Arcadia Bay) and the cookie making factory (this ending) who wouldn't choose the factory i.e. save everyone? It's surprising to find that there is always a minority that wouldn't choose this ending even when given the option and agreeing with it in principle. If just 1 percent of the 3 million people who have been estimated to have played LIS didn't want this ending that's 30,000 individuals I've ignored and by doing so effectively disenfranchised them through lack of representation. There's already too much of that in life and I didn't want to add to the ignorance. Be that is it may I never felt that this ending was the 'too easy' option, or the nice option, or the good ending as some viewers have attempted to categorise it. I have always asked them to think on this. In this ending William Price is still dead, Rachel Amber is still murdered and Kate Marsh has still been drugged, abducted, abused and bullied to the point of suicide. I agonised on this ending every bit as much as DONTNOD must have laboured over theirs, I just don't see how their endings could be justified in terms of necessity or logic. Too cruel for my tastes, so thanks again for the comments.
From now on, this shall be the official ending in my mind. I love this beautiful story but the endings always made me sad. Really, this ending should have been possible in the game. Thank you for this perfect ending!
Dear Maya, thanks for your kind words of support and appreciation. You've joined the majority of viewers of this alternate ending as for them it's become the canon ending for LIS. Yes it's true that from the point of view of logical and probability that the contents and structure of this ending is far more of a legitimate resolution to the game of LIS than the two intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt messes that DONTNOD attempted to justify as 'endings.' I hope that this ending brings you some peace and joy.
Aaron Johnson i think its not possible to have it on the original game i had only 2 decisions and i choosed to let the City be destroyed and save my friend instead. worked too hard to save her to just let she die in the end maybe we can change it on Life strange 2 in the future

Dear Knewo, thanks for your kind words of support and I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy. This ending was created after considerable research into the time travel genre in order to guarantee that it's contents and structure should accurately reflect the most statistically probable resolution to LIS. I've been fortunate enough to install it into my version of LIS, so it's become the ending which actually takes place in the game.
I guess this ending isn't real, but if it could then that would make the game even better, I don't know what the real choices are but if the 3rd one becomes real I would definitely want to play the game or see a game play of someone getting the good ending. Otherwise I want even bother wanting to play it if both choices are bad. Why did they do that, idk but for a heavy story based choice dependent game, I definitely wouldn't want to choose the normal 2 choices, I definitely would choose the 3rd fanmade and unreal choice but not the other normal 2, it just doesn't seem right to do that.
@@Emerald_Fury375 sometimes even when the world or etc. everything and everyone tries to break us and the ones we ❤ most and don't love on this shitty planet maybe trying will worth all the while, The lord knows, no matter what we must plow on that's what I got watching this GRAND alternate ending to this awesome story(Life Is Strange)
Dear Jessie, thanks for your comment. It's a testimony to how affecting LIS is to its players and fans across the world that there are still those who, like yourself, come across this alternate finale often years after playing the game and it still provokes a vibrant emotional reaction. I'm grateful that this ending brings you some peace and joy. It is a far, far better ending than DONTNOD have ever done; it is a far, far better finale than the game has ever known. I was compelled to create this ending after the '...hot mess...' as one respected review called the train-wrecks that DONTNOD insultingly attempted to pass off as endings to their game. The contents and structure of this finale was created after considerable research in order that it should best represent the most probable resolution to the story of LIS. this is the ending which players deserved the right to be able to earn for themselves. this is the futures that the charters deserved to have. Be that as it may, in the time since creating this alternate finale I have become aware of a way that I can grant Max the opportunity to challenge fate, just one more time and save the lives of both William Price and Rachel Amber.
Actually thought for a bit that this is an actual possible secret ending... It should be. Edit: I know it's 2019 already, but I am glad I found this video. ^-^
Dear Cassidy, if it should come to pass, that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy, then I'm glad that you found this video too. As you've noted, players should have had the right to earn his ending, as it stands, by virtue of its absence, not only did I create it but I also took the liberty of installing it into my PC version of LIS, so this is the actual ending that the characters get to have in the game. Thanks for watching.
I played this game 5 times and I never got this third option no matter how less fucked up decisions I made :-( The game always gave me a choice between Chloe and the town and every time I chose to save Chloe.
Dear Viktoria, I'm still here as well. Thanks for coming back and re-watching this alternate finale. And yes you're right, this is the ending which the characters and fans of LIS deserved.
Dear Kyle, thanks for your comment. Yes LIS is an emotional weight to carry around, as such I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace as it's the ending which the international LIS fandom deserves.
Dear Em, thanks for your comment. I understand and share your frustration, this alternate ending was created after much research to fit within the choice structure and rules of the LIS universe, as well as the possibilities of physics based time travel, in a way that the DONTNOD endings failed to do. So it's as real as you want it be, what the heart desires, the mind transpires. I have removed the DONTNOD endings from my PC version of LIS and installed this instead, so it is the actual real ending I get to have in the game. I hope that this finale brings you some peace and joy.
You should totally just send this to DONTNOD, and literally explain them how your ending actually make more sense than the actual one they made. The game itself is super good, but i just feel like they went with the trend of the MASS EFFECT 3 ending, basically you have no good ending. I won't lie i cried when i had to make (the) decision, as only a few people would dare killing Arcadia Bay over Sacrificing Chloe. I felt like the game would not let me reach closure, her life was tragic from the get go, and max had to just be there so that she could fufill her (destiny) of dying after years of suffering her father's death, mixed with Max being awful at keeping contact with her afterward. When you look back your ending is actually the ending people should trive for in this game, not putting the nail in the coffin of Chloe's life. Anyway game is awesome, ending i have my fair share of disagrements with, given with how 'Before the storm ' just adds insult to injury by beating down on Chloe even more. CAN'T THEY JUST LET HER LIVE TRHOUGH THIS.
Dear PowerStar, many thanks for your kind words and support, we're all Everyday Heroes. I have removed the DONTNOD endings from my PC version of LIS and installed this instead so its the finale that the characters actually get to have in the game. I hope it brings you some peace and joy.
Dear Влад Вулкан, thanks for your question. It was difficult removing, adding and renaming files in the LIS folder hierarchy on my PC. I wouldn't recommend it, additionally the files aren't in DLC status currently. Be that as it may this alternate finale will always be here for you.
Dear Anzel, if I grieved for the loss of Rachel then it was only as a numb by proxy of witnessing Chloe's grief. My response was to devote my energies to creating an alternate finale wherein her killers were brought to justice and to ensure that her body received a respectful funeral. I was not prepared for the effect of meeting her as a living character in LIS:BTS, to know that such a beautiful light was to be so obscenely extinguished, unmourned and unavenged, dumped in a shallow grave in a junk yard. So now I know that should come to pass that I ever find a way to grant Max the opportunity to challenge fate...just one more time...and use her time travel to save both William and Rachel, then I would.
Wow I love how this video is still getting comments! This was such a masterpiece so congrats to you on making such a great video! It gave proper closure for those who needed it, so thank you! This game is definitely one that will continue to have an impact on those who play it, so it's good to also have this video to have something to come back to for comfort.
Dear Wes, thanks for your kind words of appreciation and support. Here we all are all these years later and this alternate finale is still receiving 800+ views daily. I'm grateful that so many have found, and are continuing to find, some peace and joy in it's existence. The content and structure of this ending was arrived at after considerable research in order that it should represent a conclusion to to LIS that was demonstrably more probable than the unfortunate mess created by DONTNOD.
It would be nice if it was an actual ending. But with a little change: you wouldn't be able to make this last decision, all three endings would depend on the choices you made thorough the gameplay.
Dear Sam,yes that's a valid point. I think that the ending should be as you suggest, a default ending, depending upon the player's choices made throughout the game. Let the ending be defined by the some of the whole rather than but one final link in the chain. The reasons I didn't go down the complete replacement ending route was because of the structure of LIS' final decision screen and because I didn't want to disenfranchise those players wishing to make a different choice other than this ending. If I had created this game I would have considered layering the endings of LIS, so that they were only available on multiple play throughs, to ensure maximum emotional impact: 1. Half the story, One ending available, sacrifice Chloe. 2. Two thirds,Two endings available, sacrifice Chloe, sacrifice Arcadia Bay. 3. Three quarters, Three endings available, sacrifice Chloe, sacrifice Arcadia Bay, sacrifice yourself (Max surprise Nathan from behind and takes the bullet). 4. Full story, Four endings available sacrifice Chloe, sacrifice Arcadia Bay, sacrifice yourself (Max surprise Nathan from behind and takes the bullet), save everyone.
Or maybe it could be a secret ending which you get after having saved games of both save and sacrifice endings along with all photographs. Amazing work, OP ❤
Life: there isn't a perfect endi-- This video: *HOLD UP* RUclips: maybe i should recommend this two years late... Pd: i have died of hapiness watching this video.
Dear No Name, many thanks for your kind words of support. I'm grateful that this alternate finale has brought you some joy and peace. Thanks for watching and please know that you're never too late to watch a time travel ending.
I feel like this is what Rachel wanted, Chloe to be safe, and herself to be avenged which might be why Max got her ability in the first place. And like your comments said, the tornado was most likely caused by Max jumping through time, and your ending is what should have happened.
Dear Fenris, you're right in what you say. It's Rachel's spirit animal, that beautiful blue Butterfly, that gives Max her time rewind powers to save her best friend Chloe from also being killed at Nathan's hands. Additionally it was to discover the location of her body, the truth about her death and have her killers brought to justice. Rachel's butterfly appears one more time at her funeral to let Max know that her spirit can now rest in peace with all of Arcadia Bay as her memorial.
Dear Tusshar, thanks for sharing your experience of LIS. Now that this alternate finale exists no-one will ever be forced to choose between two things of equal subjective value, Chloe and Arcadia Bay, when they've earnt the right to have both.
Dear Chloe, thanks for your comment. I'm a fan of the enigmatic Samuel as he's one of the most emotionally well balanced individuals in Arcadia Bay. It's no surprise or co-incidence that he's good friends with the Blackwell science teacher Michelle Grant. Thanks for watching.
Dear Jasmine Scholz, thanks for acknowledging the structural functionality of this happy ending, don't know why DONTNOD couldn't take this route, so we LiS fans took it for them instead.
Yeah this ending make a lot of sense, also the sacrifice yourself ending where you die. But I guess dotnod wanted the 'emotional' value of a 'big' choice instead of a fulfilling ending
Dear Jasmine, there are those who rigidly argue their point of view about the necessity for Chloe to die. I have always found that argument absurd as well as unpleasant. The life of one person is not enough to unbalance nature as was seen in Arcadia Bay. But if a person starts time travelling like a pinball ricocheting around the table of life like Max did, well then that's enough to upset the balance. Always remember cause and effect. Max's premonition of the storm came before her time travel and in that timeline Chloe died. If Max wasn't meant to save Chloe then why be forewarned, taken back to that point in time again and again. Chloe was meant live.
That's what i was thinking when i played the game. Even if Max lets Chloe die, she's already messed up the timeline so how do we know that it wont have the storm come anyway? I also thought that if i was to let Chloe die then the events of the whole game wouldn't have happened, making the time i put into it pointless.
Dear Sihaya, thanks for your kind words of support. I'd love to work with DONTNOD to fix the time-lines in the LIS universe. I've been fortunate enough to install this finale into my PC version of LIS, so it's become the actual ending which takes place in the game.
Dear Full-Metal-Girl, when your heart shies from the sorrow, I hope that his alternate finale brings you the peace and joy that Max, Chloe, Kate, Joyce, the spirits of Rachel and William as well as the international LIS fandom deserves.
Dear Malkav O, thanks for your comment. If a person is but a glass of water which can be poured into the greater ocean humanity and become indistinct from the sea of souls, then every individual soul comprises a part of the greater collective soul of humanity. If I put my heart into this and as you say, managed to save some souls, then, in part, the soul I saved was but a vestige of my own and I am remain grateful for the opportunity: 'No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.' John Donne (1572-163)
Dear luc, he's been sent a link, but please feel free to contact him yourself, the more the better. In the meantime, thanks for your support, I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy.
#Nickatarcadiabay this was AWESOME!! I'm definitely tagging #jackcepticye in this I hope he sees. I'd LOVE to see all the choices and everything that got to this wonderful ending.
My god not only was your idea for an ending really cool but your responses to the audience are so nice as well. It makes my heart warm reading them, thank you for all of this.
Dear Sara, thanks for your words gratitude. What are comments without replies? What point questions without answers. Let us not become faint echoes when are hearts and minds have synchronised upon that which is genuinely the right thing to do.
Dear Liebes Tagebuch, thanks for your comments, I agree with you that 'Life Is Strange' is a bit of life changer. Lieber Liebes Tagebuch, danke für deine Kommentare, ich stimme dir zu, dass 'Life Is Strange' ein bisschen Lebenswandler ist.
I got excited when I saw this. I thought I missed something in the game. Disappointing that this isn't a real option but very well done. I would totally have liked the game to end this way.
Dear Yimma, many thanks for your kind words of support. It is indeed a massive shame that the very studio which created this game utterly failed to give it an ending. As such this alternate finale has been created after considerable research to ensure that it's contents and structure are the most statistically probable resolution to the game. I hope that it brings you some peace and joy.
Dear Debarghya, thanks for your question. The answer is yes I did indeed create this alternate finale. It currently exists as a group of files which I had to install manually directly into the LIS folder hierarchy on my PC. Which, as you can no doubt imagine, was no easy task. It doesn't exist as something ready for distribution, but I'll never take it down from here. If by some million to one chance RUclips should decide to shut-down or suffer a wipe-out of files I have it safely backed up should re-upload ever prove necessary.
Dear Lawrance, thanks for your question. If you the player have Max show Chloe enough affection throughout the game of LIS ,then the two characters will bee seen to kiss if you choose the 'Sacrifice Chloe' option at the end. Thanks for watching.
Dear Maylin, many thanks for your kind words of appreciation. I included as many characters as possible, although I have an urge to create a new 4K high definition 'super ending' so to speak, maybe include as many of the other characters as possible.
Dear Its just widow, the deaths of of William Price and Rachel Amber still echo at the periphery of my conciousness, I don't feel that their lives are out of my reach yet, wait until 2018...
I wish max could go back in time and find out when Rachel was killed and stop her from dying. We all know what Saving William would do to Chloe, so what would saving Rachel do?
This is the best ending in the game. Thanks for putting this video because it shows the creators of life is strange to use this video instead of the sad ending. Just amazing work!
Thanks Awesome Gamer 123, the vast majority seems to agree with you that this ending fits into the narrative of the game far more logically than any other, to quote Max "This all started with a photograph and it's going to end with a photograph."
There have been video games which have seen sections added, taken away or have had endings changed such as Infamous 2, Shadow Of Mordor's DLC, Portal, Knights Of The Old Republic, Prince Of Persia 2008, Fallout 3's DLC, Mass Effect 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4.
Dear ComShasOKais, thanks for the reply, I think that DONTNOD let players down when they used a mathematical philosophical system designed to predict long-term consequences of actions in a non-linear, non-sequential, non-deterministic system. Chaos theory is great for the likes of engineering, computer programming, economics etc but when you're dealing with time travel, you need physics.
even in 2021, I’m still crying. only life is strange changed my life and I love this ending, great work! I’m sure with all the views, likes, and comments..people definitely appreciate it and I’m glad:)
Dear Peko, thanks for sharing your experience of LIS with us. It's so easy to become attached to the characters who inhabit Arcadia Bay as the emotionally challenging story unfolds before us. I'm grateful that so many people have found this alternate finale which has brought them some peace and joy.
I just finished the game yesterday. My husband saw me crying in bed. I told him about my depression of what happened in the ending of this game and this morning he sent me this video. Thank you so much Nick for doing this. Really appreciate it. Max and Chloe definitely deserve this ending so much. Pirates forever!
Dear Michelle, thanks for sharing your pain in the face of the intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt DONTNOD 'endings.' How a talented gaming studio can abdicate all judgement and finish off a game of such beauty with so much ugliness is beyond rational justification. The content and structure of this ending was created after considerable research into Temporal Causality of time travel in order for it to legitimately represent the most statistically likely conclusion to the game. I'm enormously grateful that your husband forwarded this alternate finale to you as this is the ending which Max, Chloe, Kate, Joyce, the spirits of William and Rachel, as well as the international LIS fandom, earned the right to have. I've been fortunate enough to be able to install this into my PC version of LIS, so it's become the ending which takes place in the game. I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy. It is a far, far better ending than DONTNOD have ever done; it is a far, far better finale than the game has ever known. Thanks for watching.
Actually disappointed that this isn't an actual ending in the game. Even if it is a storybook ending there's just so much shit to feel throughout the entire story that's so relatable - you just want it to conclude with a breath of faith-in-humanity-restored fresh air. Also, if there was one thing I didn't like about the ending, it's that they moved to San Francisco. I think Los Angeles would've been a more believable place because of Chloe's professions. Also would've been a nice nod to Rachel, but I get why SF makes sense because of Max.
Dear Kiss, thanks for you feedback, little was known about Rachel when this finale was being constructed. If I was creating it today I would have considered different cities, but I still think are dynamic duo would have been based out of SF. Be that as it may, Max and Chloe would be international travellers, with Max's photography assignments they would tour not just the length and breadth of the USA but of the world. I'm sure they would have spent plenty of time in LA with its unique vibe, architecture and LGBT community.
Nick at Arcadia Bay how did you create that?? The first time I saw it I believed it was a real ending that I missed!! This is really the only "not sadic" ending possible!! Too bad that it didn't exist... That's really good job. Sorry for my faults, I'm a french girl. So, I'll say "bravo et au revoir" !!
Just finished playing LIS 1 and seriously felt a hole in my heart couldn’t let Chloe die and even watched the alternate ending and still felt terrible after all we went through - thank you so much for this video I’m choosing this as cannon and can finally sleep well tonight awesome job mate well done
Dear George, thanks for your kind words of appreciation. Despite DONTNOD's obvious talent they utterly failed to furnish their game with an finish which represents the story, the characters, the remit of the genre that the game purports to inhabit etc etc etc. I could write a thousand words describing how they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. One respected gaming review of LIS referred to their endings as being '..a big hot mess...' which I've always taken as a metaphorical representation for a description that they weren't allowed to publish. The contents and structure of this alternate finale was created after considerable research in order that it should represent the most statistically probable conclusion to LIS. It's been embraced by the overwhelming vast majority of it's international viewers as representing a genuinely valid addition to, or complete replacement for, the DONTNOD endings. I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy. It is a far, far better ending than DONTNOD have ever done; it is a far, far better finale than the game has ever known. Be that as it may, should it ever come to pass that I devised a way to grant Max the opportunity to challenge fate, just one more time, and save both William and Rachel, then I would.
@@nickmattedwards if anyone can figure out such a overwhelming and difficult task it shall be you im about to begin my journey through LIS before the storm tonight and looking forward to how that ties everything up , keep up the good work my friend we appreciate your work
Dear Rabbit, just thought you might want to know. I have removed the original endings from my PC version of LIS and managed to install an edited version of this ending instead. So when I play LIS, I choose the 'Sacrifice Chloe' option, the reason being that if I'm going to save Arcadia, then I intend to bloody well save all of it and yes that absolutely includes Chloe. So I get this ending as final cutscene instead. Yay!
Dear B and S, I understand your concerns, but I for one refuse to be limited in my exploration of the LIS universe by what is or isn't in LIS2. There are so many Max and Chloe adventures left for all of us to have. 'Above all shadows rides the Sun and Stars for ever dwell. I will not say the Day is done, nor bid the Stars farewell.'
Dear b and S, thnaks for your reply. Yes indeed the canon endings are awful. In the DONTNOD LIS production documentary the makers openly admit that they agonised over the endings for many weeks. That alone should have sounded the alarm bells, but no, it was not to be and so instead sadly here we are.
Dear Ayomzi, many thanks for your comment and repeat watch. My heart and mind created this alternate finale to bring its viewers some peace, joy and hope. It still makes me tear.
Dear JL, always and forever. It is a far, far better ending than DONTNOD have ever done; it is a far, far better finale than the game has ever known. Thanks for watching.
Frank supplied the drugs to Nathan which ended up killing the love of his life, Rachel. He needs to leave Arcadia Bay behind him and go on a physical journey in order to begin the emotional and mental journey he needs to go on to change the man he is into the man he wants to be.
The problem I have with the original endings is that the game does not reward you for all the stuff that you did while time traveling. It's either sad or sadder. Either the stuff that you did through the game doesn't matter one bit and your best friend dies, or the stuff that you did destroyed a whole town and killed thousands of people. Even though all I did throughout the game was saving people and spreading love and happiness, I was brutally punished for it. It's not fair! :c
Dear Tommaso, many thanks for accurately summing up one of the main intellectual and ethical flaws perpetrated by DONTNOD. One person commented , echoing your thoughts, that they might of well have just played the very beginning of episode 1 and then proceeded directly to the every end of episode 5, for all of the difference that their choices made to the endings. Ignoring the choices players made and then forcing two no-win scenarios onto them was so unacceptable that I refused to choose and instead chose to create this finale instead, out of respect for LIS and its international community.
Thnx for making an ending that makes sence. The storm came because max went back in time, so she couldve went back, saved chloe with the fire alarm, and coudve never went back in time in the first place. She didnt need to sacrafice chloe, to never go back in time. Finally someone understands the games big flaw. Although lif is strange is still a good game. Good job
Dear AWE, thanks for your comment of support. DONTNOD's decision to end LIS with a pair of endings which are so intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt shall stand as testimony to the horrifying power of self deceit and self deception. This alternate finale was created after considerable research to ensure that it's contents ans structure represent the most statistically probable resolution to the game. I'm grateful that this alternate finale brings some peace and joy. It is a far, far better ending than DONTNOD have ever done; it is a far, far better finale than the game has ever known. Be that as it may, should it ever come to pass that I devised a way to grant Max the opportunity to challenge fate, just one more time, and save both William and Rachel, then I would.
Dear Cloaked, thanks for your comment and support. It's true that this alternate finale is the end which the international LIS fandom deserves the right to be able to earn for itslef.
Dear Knight, thanks for your question. Without seeking to be obtuse I can only reply that the two 'conclusions' provided for LIS by DONTNOD are neither a reflection of the game or the tenets of the genre it purports to represent. They are intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt. This alternate finale was created after considerable research to represent the most statistically probable resolution to the game. I've been fortunate enough to install it into my PC version of LIS, so it's become the ending which actually takes place at the ending of the game.
Dear K.A Lee, many thanks for your support. After the disrespectful mess that DONTNOD made of the original endings, I was compelled to create a more appropriate finale out of respect for LIS and its international community of players. I hope that this brought you some peace, it has been embraced by the overwhelming majority of viewers as the real ending.
Dear hanaahmed7039, thanks for sharing your observation and agreement on this point. Presenting the gathering of grievers at the Arcadia Bay Cemetery being for the dignified reburial of Rachel Amber made so much sense and fitted so neatly within the plot of LIS. I'm without explanation as to why DONTNOD presented their totally misguided and disenfranchising sacrifice choice as if it was legitimate when, in fact, it was just disastrous misjudgement.
Why didn't they implement this? This was perfect and actually had meaning to the story, unlike the other two choices. Thank you for this, really helped.
Dear Aliyah, thanks for your question, the answer to which is as simple, as it is unsatisfying. A well meaning, hugely talented, but thoroughly misguided gaming studio attempted to create a game wherein they meant to have the player explore moral choice. Unfortunately , because DONTNOD didn't do their research properly they created a game that is borderline misogynistic, intellectually dishonest as well as morally and ethically bankrupt. As a human being I have by sheer weight of intelligence, education and life experience long since outgrown the petty constraints that they seem both obsessed and confused by. In that I understand choice demonstrably better than they do, I chose not to choose one of their 'choices', for there's no dignity to be found in participating with a disenfranchising diktat masquerading as 'choice.' Instead I chose to choose a different choice and thus this alternate finale came into existence. It is genuinely legitimate to reject the DONTNOD endings, for all of the reasons stated. I have removed their endings from my version of LIS and installed this finale instead, so this is what actually takes place in the game. Thanks for watching and I hope that this future for the characters brings you some peace and joy.
@@nickmattedwards Hi, thank you for responding. I was quite disappointed with the ending choices. It was either 'sacrifice Arcadia Bay' or 'sacrifice Chloe'. I mean obviously it was an easy choice for most RUclipsrs I watched play this game. 'sacrifice Arcadia Bay'. It was almost to the point where I had to do the other choice in my gameplay just to know how it'd be like. Anyways, enough of my babbling, I really enjoyed this ending, it really helped with the disappointment I was feeling. I was and still is upset about the crappy ending choices. But your video really did help a lot because I felt satisfied with it. I really do wish DONTNOD took a few more weeks of their time to implement this ending into their game, because it'll really satisfy a lot of their players. Thanks again, Nick. You really did tame my disappointment a. Have a great day/night. :)
Dear Aliyah, many thanks for reply, I'm always extremely grateful when this alternate finale has brought someone the peace denied them by the original 'endings'. You may wish to have a watch of some of the other LIS videos I've uploaded as I've put some time and effort into each and every one of them. The object for me has always been the same; to seek, to find, to show the beauty, amongst the ugliness, in Arcadia Bay. Thanks for watching.
I recently finished LIS for the first time and of the two endings presented to me, I picked the one where you sacrifice Chloe to save everyone in Arcadia Bay. It's an understatement when I say that I was an emotional wreck for days afterwards. Thank you for creating and sharing this ending. It is the ending that Chloe in particular deserved, not to bleed out on a cold bathroom floor in a place she hated thinking everyone she ever knew and loved had abandoned her.
Dear Doc, thanks for your comment. Although DONTNOD may have abdicated all corporate accountability and moral reasoning by allowing Nathan to become a killer, for the second time, Chloe to bleed to death in the ladies room at Blackwell and the body of Rachel Amber to lie unavenged and unmarked in a shallow grave in a junk-yard, I personally could not. It's genuinely legitimate to reject the DONTNOD endings for being intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt. The best of that which we are as a species is drawn to the light of a better world. It's time to let a bright light blaze into the deepest depths of the darkness.
Nick at Arcadia Bay Thank you for replying. I mean it when I say that this ending brought closure and comfort to me personally, let’s hope the same can be said for the many lost and troubled spirits of Arcadia Bay as well.
Dear Paguo, thanks for your comment. Now that this alternate finale exists no-one will ever force you to choose between sacrificing Arcadia Bay or Chloe ever again. I've been fortunate enough to install this ending into my PC version of LIS, so it's become the ending which takes place in the game. This is the ending which Max, Chloe, Kate, Joyce, the spirits of William and Rachel, as well as the international LIS fandom, earned the right to have.
THIS is the ending we all deserve.
and it makes sense; I mean: if from the very start both Nathan and Jefferson are arrested then Max wont have to constantly time travel (which is what caused the tornado). This is perfect! Bravo!
Dear andythebestok, many thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, many people agree with you that this ending fits smoothly in the narrative of the game and has given all of us LiS fans a far more satisfying ending.
andythebestok I want Max and Warren to be a couple, this is the only reason why I don't like this Ending
Dear Littlewaniby, Max and Warren A Love Story, ruclips.net/video/Gh08r1zkluI/видео.html
Such a pity.
the sad part about it is if you choose to give chloe up, chloe dies in the bathroom. Therefore she doesn't know that max ever came back
Dear Elle, thanks for your comment.
@@nickmattedwards I think this choice should only be available depending on what relationships you choice and how well you do the the puzzles in the game.
dude i thought about this last night when i finished it and balled my eyes out
@@AndrewJcf totally agree!
That's why I didnt sacrifice chloe. I'd choose chloe over Arcadia bay every single time.
How to save both:
Just turn of ur ps4 in the right moment
Dear Le na, thanks for your comment. Yes indeed that way makes more sense.
Lena ;-; that was funny
Thats exactly what I did, I mean I played it on the phone but yeaah... I didn't choose. I just watched the endings on YT😂
That mean on Ps4 we can‘t have this ending? Hell no please not
It takes less time and tears
Too bad Chloe wouldn’t be able to remember anything and max remembers too much
Dear FX thanks for your comment, but just what would you Chloe remember? Her murder at the hands of Nathan Prescott or her murder at the hands of Mark Jefferson? What about 5 long horrific years trapped in a dying quadriplegic body?
The great poet Christina Rossetti was right when she wrote, 'Better by far you should forget and smile. Than that you should remember and be sad.'
@@nickmattedwards you are very cultured and philosophical 😊
Dear Jools, thanks for your support.
Think of it this way, the two could start a new. Max would know how to be her friend and both could start fresh.
@Son of Martha yes. Fan made. A happy fantasy for us all.
Next: How to save CHLOE, ARCADIA BAY & RACHEL

It took me 5 minutes and 100 tears to realize this was an edit i was so hopefull it was a possible ending...
I did the same thing!! I replayed the whole game again just to see if it was true but I killed Chloe on accident...
Kisuu Rainbow I didn’t realize it was a lm edit until your comment. I am so sad.

Dear Carol thanks for your comment This is indeed the ending which the game and its fandom deserve to be able to earn for itself.
@@nickmattedwards yes, this ending is incredible. At least no one dies
Yeah but I really wish there was a way to save Rachel she’s my favorite character 😕
This should be a ending you unlock after two playthroughs with diff endings
Dear Link, thanks for your comment, yes indeed this alternate finale should have been available for the international LIS fandom to earn. It represents an ending which is not only statistically the most probable but also the fates which Max, Chloe, Kate, Joyce, the spirits of William and Rachel deserved.
Look if max can save both this is a good ending, but bad news is how did i get the both ending
aAAaaaaaaaAAaaaaaa too lazy to play again but i need that endinggggg
Ohhhhh got it
Yes
This ending makes so much sense. This COULD have happened. If you had the choice to take the photo.
TwentyOneChemicalDiscos this does make a lot of sense
Dear Bandit, thanks for your comment and support. The players of LIS deserved the right to be able to earn an ending with some humanity to it. In view of DONTNOD's failure, I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace and joy.

I'll just take this as the real ending, I suffered enough with this game it's time I get some joy 😎

Ok, I am officially accepting this as the canon ending

I agree completely, such a beautiful game, season 1 and before the storm ❤❤❤❤ RIP Rachel Amber
My life has changed I am no longer sad😮😉😊
I wish this was an actual ending. Both endings are so depressing 😭

So it would be like the "True" good ending of Undertale where all the monsters are freed from the underground and able to live happily on the surface.
i'd love that
Es que no existe "La Fin", es "El Fin", gracias cuánto respeto ;)
@@alondrasantis7352 "La fin" es frances
WHY DIDN'T THIS HAPPEN?
THINK ABOUT IT
ALL MAX HAD TO DO WAS:
GO BACK IN TIME TO THE BATHROOM SCENE
TAKE A PICTURE WHILE NATHAN WAS WAVING A GUN AROUND
IF HE NOTICES, REWIND A BIT TO BEFORE SHE TOOK IT (BUT SHE'D STILL MAINTAIN THE PHOTOGRAPH)
PRESS THE FIRE ALARM
TELL PRINICIPAL WELLS AND SHOW HIM THE PHOTOGRAPH
BAM.
I don’t understand how when she “sacrifices Chloe” she doesn’t just hit the fire alarm again without rewinding
Great logic also i had thought..!
That's literally what I've ALWAYS thought
@@nickmattedwards thing is, she still time travelled to save chloe, which caused the tornado. The whole point of going back was to let destiny run it's course. Even the tiniest change could have massive impacy
Dear Sirpentine, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately the structure and logic of the cause and effect of LIS is a mess due to DONTNOD attempting to use Chaos Theory as some form of justification for their game
What can be taken from the contents of the game is that Max has used her time rewind powers too much during the 5 day, Monday to Friday, time loop that she's travelling in.
I caused all of this."
If I use the metaphor of waves standing in for time, then if two waves of equal size and strength meet each other in a head on collision out on the ocean, then they cancel each other out.
After YEARS of not seeing anything about the game this brought back all the emotions at once. This is and will forever be my favorite game.
Dear Beniscreative, thanks for your comment. I find it increasing difficult to reconcile the rapid passage of time, when so much feels like it happened but a few months ago and yet it's over 4 years since I published this alternate finale.
Even though this wasn't a choice its cannon in my eyes.
Dear Squek, thanks for your support, it seems to be an emerging consensus of opinion that this alternate finale is demonstrably more canon than the 'canon', more genuine than the real McCoy.
omg this is the ending we all need :'(
Dear merni, thanks for your kind words and support. Yes indeed this is the finale that Max, Chloe, Kate, Joyce, the spirits of William and Rachel, as well as the international LIS fandom all deserve.
merni cornn yes. I hope I can get the game
Nick at Arcadia Bay yes. Great ending
the ending of this game depresses me so much and I can’t sleep after playing, but this ending gives me something to think about so I won’t have to be so depressed
I sacrificed arcadia bay in the end. I needed some pricefield shit. Also i would be sad if chloe died
I’m gonna cry all night now, this is the ending I needed so bad
Dear Stephen, thanks for sharing your feelings in regards to watching this alternate finale. I'm grateful if this creation brings you some peace and joy.
I wish that they made this an ending, this is the first time a game made me feel so destroyed...

The ending we all needed. If only we had confirmation that Rachel’s spirit is at peace...
Dear Creepycandy, Rachel's spirit animal, the Blue Butterfly, was at her funeral remember? She's free now of the constraints of this mortal coil, to fly wherever her heart desires. She rests in peace, with all of Arcadia Bay as her memorial.
Queen Creepycandy ya exactly
Also, the deer spirit that appeared in the junkyard where Rachel's body was buried, when Chloe & Max found the body the deer bowed its head and disappeared. Rachel is at peace.
I wish Rachel Amber hadn't died in the first place, Max barely got to know her and so did we.

The developer should have 3 endings, including this.

Nick at Arcadia Bay This was very wordy, I had to read it three times to fully understand, hahaha
Nick at Arcadia Bay It was way more formal than what I expected
I saved Kate she was special for me I didn’t want to let her die and I made Victoria believe me and of course I chose to let Chloe live
It was all Samuel.
He was the mastermind behind everything.
Samuel is a time traveler.
And the squirrels, don't forget the squirrels.
Nameless Ghost i personally thought it was Frank and his beans or the smiling hot dog
No! No! No! Pompidou is the secret mastermind behind all of this.
Lmfao
No, it's Patrick
(Granted, till the end she has no indication that there is any.)
In the William timeline she tries it once and gives up. i was going "how about establishing some connection? trying to give herself something to act on to stop Chloes accident?" She could have made it an annual thing that she came back and stayed with the Price family around that date and that she takes a photo each year or at least called Chloe regularly (with a photo before each phonecall.)
And it is the same with the end and the tornado.
(possibly with a smaller tornado.)
Of course it would require the developers to allow there to be a happy(happier) ending.
It made me happy how everyone got the ending they deserved especially Kate and Wells
I, myself was very disappointed with the original ending and when I came across this ending, I was so happy.
Let's all try to get Jacob Maron's likes to a 1000! Thanks everyone.

Dear MLS 2020, thanks for stopping by, I hope this ending brought you some joy.
If they don't, I know I will.
Wow! I have 223 likes now! Certainly didn't expect that😄
MLS 2020 wow
I much prefer this ending than the other ones cause it kinda makes your choices matter and it won't make people have complete emotional breakdowns.
Dear Allison, couldn't agree more with your comment, all the choices, all the decisions, all the consequences, they matter. Peace
Yes it's true that from the point of view of logical and probability that the contents and structure of this ending is far more of a legitimate resolution to the game of LIS than the two intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt messes that DONTNOD attempted to justify as 'endings.'
I hope that this ending brings you some peace and joy.
This ending is so much better and doesn't rip my heart out like the actual endings.
Dear Gabrielle, many thanks for taking the time to comment on this video LiS is so important to so many of us.

How do you get this endind? It wasn't a choice for me
Aaron Johnson i think its not possible to have it on the original game i had only 2 decisions and i choosed to let the City be destroyed and save my friend instead. worked too hard to save her to just let she die in the end maybe we can change it on Life strange 2 in the future
i actually saved her, the story let us save Chloe so many times and I still chose to save her in the end, although i had to sacrifire the whole town
"She still plays her violin" :')
Dear Arthur, the violin is just so quintessentially Kate that I had to mention it.
ouch..😭😔
Dear baby, Kate is too precious a person to be allowed to tread the intangible firmament of the heavens:

I know this ending isn’t in the game but thanks for helping me feel better because this choice sucked

No matter the cost
Y'all this just hit me right in the feels. This is the Life Is Strange ending I never knew I needed.

I just finished playing Life is Strange, and how I wish this was an actual ending. Great story though, but my heart cannot handle this much pain. :((
Dear Kyle, thanks for your comment. Yes LIS is an emotional weight to carry around, as such I hope that this alternate finale brings you some peace as it's the ending which the international LIS fandom deserves.
The ending was very underdeveloped and felt so rushed.
Kyle Naval I experienced this heartbreak at 4 😒
@@awkwardandquiet16yearsago75 that makes 2 of us.
If only this ending was real...
Three endings life is strange
Logically it at least could have been real.
@@nickmattedwards im with mickael, you should do that, send it to DONTNOD, and explain your ending, and how is better than the others
Dude, it totally fixed the depression I got along this game, thank you, really... You're the real "everyday hero" +1 sub
Dear PowerStar, many thanks for your kind words and support, we're all Everyday Heroes. I have removed the DONTNOD endings from my PC version of LIS and installed this instead so its the finale that the characters actually get to have in the game. I hope it brings you some peace and joy.
@@nickmattedwards how to do that myself?
Dear Влад Вулкан, thanks for your question. It was difficult removing, adding and renaming files in the LIS folder hierarchy on my PC. I wouldn't recommend it, additionally the files aren't in DLC status currently. Be that as it may this alternate finale will always be here for you.
Before the storm gave me depression back
Dear Anzel, if I grieved for the loss of Rachel then it was only as a numb by proxy of witnessing Chloe's grief.
If I had created this game I would have considered layering the endings of LIS, so that they were only available on multiple play throughs, to ensure maximum emotional impact:
1. Half the story, One ending available, sacrifice Chloe.
2. Two thirds,Two endings available, sacrifice Chloe, sacrifice Arcadia Bay.
3. Three quarters, Three endings available, sacrifice Chloe, sacrifice Arcadia Bay, sacrifice yourself (Max surprise Nathan from behind and takes the bullet).
4. Full story, Four endings available sacrifice Chloe, sacrifice Arcadia Bay, sacrifice yourself (Max surprise Nathan from behind and takes the bullet), save everyone.
I completely agree, it makes the whole game matter again instead of the very last choice.
Sam Chambela Thats what I'm hoping season 2 will be like honestly. It will feel more rewarding and the game will be more replayable
Or maybe it could be a secret ending which you get after having saved games of both save and sacrifice endings along with all photographs. Amazing work, OP ❤

Dear No Name, many thanks for your kind words of support. I'm grateful that this alternate finale has brought you some joy and peace. Thanks for watching and please know that you're never too late to watch a time travel ending.
Time to rewind
Me too
Dear Sharky, it's okay because you're here now and the beauty of time travel is that you can never be too late.
3 years now
I feel like this is what Rachel wanted, Chloe to be safe, and herself to be avenged which might be why Max got her ability in the first place.
And peoples think her destiny was to die while i think her destiny was to die 3 times and get saved by the max it can be the true destiny
I sacrifised everything for chloe now we will be together forever
I love her :-)
Dear Tusshar, thanks for sharing your experience of LIS. Now that this alternate finale exists no-one will ever be forced to choose between two things of equal subjective value, Chloe and Arcadia Bay, when they've earnt the right to have both.

Dear Santiago, it would seem that people in their thousands, from all over the world, feel the same way about this. Thanks for your comment.
So this is the actual good ending? And it's also logical but we couldn't have this in the game cause they wanted to make us cry THANKS GAME
I chose the sacrifice arcadia bay and this didn't happen
I just played this for the first time, I would’ve loved for this to be the official ending, it would’ve been perfect
Dear Sihaya, thanks for your kind words of support. I'd love to work with DONTNOD to fix the time-lines in the LIS universe. I've been fortunate enough to install this finale into my PC version of LIS, so it's become the actual ending which takes place in the game.

Ooh...so it's not real...

Thank you for adding short endings for all of the other characters! I love them.
Dear Maylin, many thanks for your kind words of appreciation. I included as many characters as possible, although I have an urge to create a new 4K high definition 'super ending' so to speak, maybe include as many of the other characters as possible.

She is *FOREVER* gone but will be *FOREVER* remembered.
Why doesn't Dontnod make a version in which Rachel and William survive? Or a version in which Max doesn't leave Chloe?
I wish max could go back in time and find out when Rachel was killed and stop her from dying. We all know what Saving William would do to Chloe, so what would saving Rachel do?
:)I love seeing old comments that come true
This is the best ending in the game. Thanks for putting this video because it shows the creators of life is strange to use this video instead of the sad ending. Just amazing work!
Thanks Awesome Gamer 123, the vast majority seems to agree with you that this ending fits into the narrative of the game far more logically than any other, to quote Max "This all started with a photograph and it's going to end with a photograph."
they can't just change something major like that though after it's been released
Wow! you realy know your stuff mate. thanks for the explanation.
You sir, just saved me. *this action will have consequences*

The content and structure of this ending was created after considerable research into Temporal Causality of time travel in order for it to legitimately represent the most statistically likely conclusion to the game.

..This "game" gave me a long lasting feeling of sadness and a longing for more...!! .. ;/ Thanks 4 the upload!
Dear Andreas, thanks for your support, this finale was needed to rebalance the justice inequities left upon the ledger book of Arcadia Bay.

Dear Rabbit, dare to dream and it shall be so.
This is the real ending though right???
Dear Rabbit, just thought you might want to know. I have removed the original endings from my PC version of LIS and managed to install an edited version of this ending instead. So when I play LIS, I choose the 'Sacrifice Chloe' option, the reason being that if I'm going to save Arcadia, then I intend to bloody well save all of it and yes that absolutely includes Chloe. So I get this ending as final cutscene instead. Yay!
Rabbit I mean it can be it was just a game after all so why not ❤️
Nothing stopping DONTNOD participating in the creation and distribution of a DLC
It kinda sucks that this isn't what happened, because of Life Is Strange 2
Dear B and S, I understand your concerns, but I for one refuse to be limited in my exploration of the LIS universe by what is or isn't in LIS2. There are so many Max and Chloe adventures left for all of us to have. 'Above all shadows rides the Sun and Stars for ever dwell. I will not say the Day is done, nor bid the Stars farewell.'
@@nickmattedwards, you do have a good point, but I'm afraid you misunderstood me. I meant that I just think that the canon ending isn't a good one
Also, I think because of the canon ending, I think that both of these characters may still be alive... maybe. But that's just a random thought
Dear b and S, thnaks for your reply. Yes indeed the canon endings are awful. In the DONTNOD LIS production documentary the makers openly admit that they agonised over the endings for many weeks. I hope frank has it nice in Canada
Dear Caleb, Canada's a big enough country for Frank to lose the man he was in order to discover the man he is.
I don’t get it
Frank supplied the drugs to Nathan which ended up killing the love of his life, Rachel. He needs to leave Arcadia Bay behind him and go on a physical journey in order to begin the emotional and mental journey he needs to go on to change the man he is into the man he wants to be.
I get it now
SO good game
This is definitely the ending we needed. Thank you for this!
Dear Honey, into the deepest depths of despair, that which is most beautiful shall brightly blaze.
Life Is Strange dude
It’s like the alternate endings of gta 5 but worse

Thnx for making an ending that makes sence. The storm came because max went back in time, so she couldve went back, saved chloe with the fire alarm, and coudve never went back in time in the first place. She didnt need to sacrafice chloe, to never go back in time. Finally someone understands the games big flaw. Although lif is strange is still a good game. Good job
Dear The true Marksman, thanks for seeing the sense in this ending.
pirates forever :')
Dear Maria, yes indeed Pirates Forever!
Chloe is safe. Arcadia Bay is safe. Pompidou lives. The squirrels are fed. Everything's perfect.
The dislikes are from Jefferson's family
Don't forget how the rotten the Chase family tree is too.
I need this ending in the game omg the other two just rip my heart out
Dear Cloaked, thanks for your comment and support.
I've been fortunate enough to install it into my PC version of LIS, so it's become the ending which actually takes place at the ending of the game.
this should be the ending gosh ...
Seeing Frank near cemetery when rachel is being buried makes more sense and also hits different
Dear hassanhasibul7863, yes I think that the entire structure of the game and the resolution of its storyline makes so much more sense this way.
Yes, it made no sense him being present at Chloe's funeral... He didn't give a flying fuck giving that they were still enemies at the beginning
This has fixed my broken heart.
Thanks for your feedback, hope that this has brought you some peace and joy.
In that I understand choice demonstrably better than they do, I chose not to choose one of their 'choices', for there's no dignity to be found in participating with a disenfranchising diktat masquerading as 'choice.'
Instead I chose to choose a different choice and thus this alternate finale came into existence.
@@nickmattedwards This is the most articulate comment I have ever seen on RUclips.
The ultimate good ending, makes me sad watching this though. Rip Chloe
