You can change riding modes while riding. Press the mode button. Watch the next mode coming up flash in the dial. Now roll of the throttle and pull the clutch in. Mode now changed while still going. I have the 2017 THRUXTON R. I just love my bike. The perfect bike to enjoy.

Gorgeous! I plan to buy a Triumph next year so I am watching alot of youtube to help me decide between 4 stunning models. Thruxton, Bonneville, Speed Twin and Speedmaster. Kudos to Triumph for having so many awesome models to choose from!! Well done on your video. 9:55 should be done by all reviewers. Great angle.

Thank you! Don’t forget about the scrambler! That is a great looking bike as well. I think triumph has knocked the modern classic line out of the park. If I could, I would have one of each. Hopefully I helped with your decision. No matter what you choose, you will be happy.

I own a 2018 R, which I bought new, love it, but it's an expensive hobby, just had the 40k service done through Triumph, over a £1,000...
You can also change mode on the hop, as long as you engage the clutch, you don't need to be stationary.

Congrats on the purchase! I bought a '22 Thruxton RS a few months before you. The biggest thing to explain to lots of people is that the seat is extremely well designed and not near as uncomfortable as people think! There is so much room to slide forward in standard mode or back for carving up some corners. If you haven't looked into it, look at the Ducati Throttle Spacers and perhaps swapping the rear sprocket for one from a Speed Twin.

Awesome! I will have to look into that. I’m still liking the bike the way it is. I think Triumph did great with the bike.

    • @hektoerdonovan2121

@@RicepickingGod I bought the fairing kit for it, but it took too long to get the matching color so I bought gloss black and I am painting all of it to a different color. Not sure about your heater comment or if that's spell check getting you. If it's mufflers you refer to, I bought Termignoni and love them. There are lots of good options for the Thruxton. I have not heard any that sounded bad. Consider the decat as well.

I love those small fairings/cowls. It would be awesome if there was one that would work with more upright clip ons.
I've got a z900rs café, so what I add to the garage will probably be something like the RE Interceptor.
Regardless of what I buy, it will be a vertical twin. So either a used Triumph, or a new/newer Royal Enfield. Your bike, oh man, if I were 20 years younger! Beautiful!

Hi - I have a 2017 Thruxton R with the track racer pack (which includes the dolphin fairing). I found the drop clip ons a bit tiresome on long rides so I bought a pair of standard Thruxton R clip-on from e-bay on the off-chance that they'd fit - took about an hour to swap them (really simple job) and they look and work perfectly, no fouling of the fairing at all. Happy to send photos if you like :). I agree with the review btw, it's a great bike, definitely a keeper.

Great choice of bike sir, I have owned mine for 3 years, never missed a beat, I have more powerful bikes in my garage, Fireblade etc, but the Thruxton tends to be ridden most often, and it’s no slouch due to the torque it produces , seriously good looking machine 👍

The riding mode affects throttle position to throttle angle, so you must be at idle and no throttle demand for it to switch. Everywhere else the mapping varies between maps. The modes also affect fueling and timing; that is why it won't do it on decel either.

    I bought a custom 1200 Thruxton after riding 200 hp Kawasaki's for 17 years.
It took me ages to adspt. I ride the bike literally all the time now, despite slahging it off at first. I deleted my earlier comments as they were too emotional and not favtual enough.
I was comparing a 200kmh 1200 cafe racer with a 1500 cc 300 kmh 200 hp sports tourer while riding on the same open roads. My comments were unfair .
I ride the little green monster thousands of miles a month.

@@motohomeless9168Where I live the roads are flat straight and disappear into the horizon. On zx14's you just reel in the horizon while sitting in some comfort, though still sporty, in a safe calm place while doing autobahn velocity on secondary bitumen roads. I have ridden the Thruxton 10,000 kms in 9 months. However when twisty is found I am holding ny speed and leaning further than other machines i have had. The Triumph 1200 attracts positive attention from people from all walks of life, more than any brand? The design is one of the best ever, equal to a 900 SS Ducati from the 70's.
