This video is SO GOOD, thank you so much for sharing your tips and tricks! I've had the ZV-E10 for a while now, and haven't used it much, because I found it quite complex... Now, with your video, I really want to get it dialed in for my videos, so thank you for that! More videos like this would surely be much, much appreciated! Thanks again. Have a great day. man, thankyou very much for all the information you put in this video, i've been studying this camera the last 10 days, getting closer to decide this camera for my first camera!
I just picked up this camera and the Sony 11mm f1.8 lens and its such a great combo! Im really looking forward to getting to Brazil on Monday and seeing what this camera can do in the wild!
I usually won't comment in any video, untill unless the video is huge worthy. I just wanna say, this video is really great and thank you for the great content.
I've had this camera for 8 months now, recently rocking it with the versatile and quality Tamron 17-70mm f2.8, and it's such a nice hybrid shooter. I've watched some tutorials on it previously, but I still I learned a lot of things from this one. Good job on a pedagogic and high-quality video! This video easily took me twice as long as 45 minutes to watch, as I was pausing to take notes, and to play around with the settings. I now set the profile picture recommended in the video, I tried zebra levels for the first time, and I changed some function menu settings and custom keys. I've also always found it annoying that you can start a video recording from the photo mode, but not take photos from the video mode, and having the settings transfer when switching, but the method of using the recall setting might ease that. One of the custom keys I just now set is for monitor brightness, mostly so that I can conveniently adjust it to save some battery when I don't need much brightness. My favorite custom key has to be the AF/MF Ctrl Toggle, which I've assigned to C1. It's so convenient to be able to quickly switch from auto- and manual focus, and to me that also covers the AF/MF Control Hold function.
Really happy to hear that you got something from this video. You're doing EXACTLY what I used to do (and still currently practice) of diving in with notes and actually applying the methods. Keep it up.
Amazing advice. Memory card setting is an amazing tip, before I had it set for 4k and memory on slow motion options. But I think what you suggested in the video works even better. Regarding slow motion, I think having in favourites options to switch resolution from 1080p to 4k is very useful. This way you can quickly change them and then just change shutter speed for slow motion. Main pro of doing it this way instead of S&Q is that you get sound and better video quality.
Fantastic video! I bought this camera with the Sony 18-105 f4, and the results when shooting photos were amazing! I was surprised considering that my main camera is a Nikon z6ii.. the camera for videos and web lives it absolutely incredible!

Sean, this is a great vid. I bought this to up social media video for shorts etc as my first camera. Can you recommend settings for vertical? Mostly shot in studio!
Hey Sean, great video, very helpful! I'm a newbie, bought this camera and I'm just getting going. I specifically wanted to use it for studio stuff, BUT also want to use it on my boat to video content from the deck of the boat. Can you help me, what lens would be best for that use, AND what gimbal, if any, would you recommend for use with the ZV E10. Thanks A LOT!
Happy to hear that it helped you. I'd start with the kit lens, I think it'll perform well, is great to learn with, and I imagine that you'll be shooting during the day and will have plenty of light? Gimbal wise, this is your best option: amzn.to/3N3QOKh
Great video. But I have a question- why does anybody still test (or even talk about) ‘jello’ or ‘rolling shutter’ ?? mostly because who on earth ever used a ‘whip pan’ in a real actual video or film? I never gave a single thought about whipping my camera around in all my years of filming. And if I did… it was an energy shot that didn’t really matter what it looked liked because it was supposed to be a crazy type of b-roll or cutaway.. So can we officially put ‘jello’ testing to rest forever? Who’s in? This camera is an awesome and compact little content creator. For beginners or professionals. Anyone. Imagine this camera 10 years ago.. it’s all about perspective. Great video and channel. Subbed.
The main reason I opted for the kit lens is that this is the least expensive lens I could find that includes power zoom. With power zoom and my remote controlled tripod head I now can remotely pan and zoom with the Imaging Edge app
I'm wanting to get this camera to record birds and scenery from a tripod. Do you think it would be good for that? I'm concerned whether the audio would be good for that... what do you think? If I'm wanting to record birds, for example, from about 3 meters would the audio be good for that or what kind of mic would work well with this camera to do that? Absolute newbie here, so I really appreciate your opinion and I know I would be reviewing this video a lot to help me out. Thank you!
Hey. If I’m in usb mode using this to record video podcasts, can I save the video to an ssd card on the camera while recording on the computer so I have a backup on the cameras card in case the software recording crashes?
I’m sorry but what PP you use for photography that you use for exposure +15 on the chart? I watched your video on exposure and loved your technique, is it off and standard for photography or is there any specific settings like on the video you explained for also and fx3?
How do you move the focus point from one photo to the next? Do you always have to go into the Fn button to select it from your presets to get it to move around? Coming from my Canon, these Sony menus are nuts. Got the Sony to use as my carry around camera instead of my heavy DSLR
Hey Brittany, set one of your custom buttons to "focus standard" and that should do the trick ;) The center button in the wheel makes sense to map that to Enjoy the new camera
I needed this the most and have a question for you please. I’ve heard this is a studio camera- is it true? My goal is to shoot outdoors for travel purpose. Can this be a good choice?
Bruh, great video. Have had this in my cart for a few days because I wasn’t happy with the Nikon z30 because it won’t record in studio more than 30 minutes without shutting down. So I was going to use it for b roll and second angle talking head recording and this for my main to get me started (brand new channel starting). What do you think abut the sigma 16mm 1.4 lens for studio talking head stuff? That’s a wide angle jaw line you got man, made me want to salute you Sarg! 😂 Seriously man, thanks, I subbed the channel too.
Hey Keith, thanks and welcome to the channel - happy to have you. The Sigma 1.4 is a fantastic option. Ha yea the jaw is a popular topic on the channel. Enjoy the camera and props on the new channel.
@@seandewispelaere Thanks Sean! I got it yesterday and will be putting the camera and lens together for some testing this week. Appreciate the response! Have a great week and thanks for the helpful content!
Awesome informative video! What lens do you recommend for the talking head videos? Everyone always says to stay away from the 16mm, but is there a preference for only talking head videos??
I think the Sigma 16 1.4 is perfect for that. Not sure why someone would say to stay away from it, it is popular and has a phenomenal reputation for good reason.
Hey, i hope you are good When i take video on this camera it just zooms in like really close i mean the frame becomes too small. I am using the lens that came with the camera can you please help resolve this mattet
A few things to check: - are you in “active” stabilization? - are you in 4K at 60p? ^ the above two things will crop in on the sensor Also, are you fully zoomed out (towards the “w”) on the lens?
What’s up, Nia - I pulled all of the recent ZV E10 videos together for this one. I’ve learned that some people want the short tips and other people want it all in one long-form video.
40:00 For stabilization, is it better to set at 120p and put the video in catalyst browse in post or set it to 60p and use stabilization? I'd think the flexibility if 120p would be worth it, yeah?
After losing all the money I’d saved for years to get a big Canon, I started a crowdfunding campaign to get this camera. It’s going really slow but I’m watching everything I can on it for when the day finally comes.
Hello sir. Am in very big delima for buying lenses. I have zve10 and 16 50 kit lens. Sigma 30mm. I want to buy Tamron 17 70 but what if I upgrade to full frame in future. Still is it worth buying Tamron 17 -70 ?
@@seandewispelaere i purchased already cause I didn't get any option. So I will learn shooting from this then I will sell this while buying full frame. Thanks for the reply 👍
What’s up, Jules?! Solid setup you have in mind there. I don’t think this camera does well at ISOs above 3200. That said, I’d probably get a lower aperture prime lens if you want the most low light freedom
Can anyone offer me advice before I send the camera back. I bought it to video my car detailing but no matter what settings I have it on, it’s either blurry or to dark.
There could be a lot of reasons for that. I'd think that the blurriness is due to the subject not being in focus and the darkness is likely due to exposure. Both of which can be fixed. For the focus, make sure that you're in autofocus ("AF") and make sure your touch tracking is turned on. From there, tap the subject when you're recording and that should get you a vast improvement. For the exposure, check out this video: I think it will help a lot: ruclips.net/video/95EYVe2Hego/видео.html Best of luck, you've got this
Did someone also thought that they wasted their money on this camera in starting, and what's your review on this camera after sometime? I am a newbie with this camera, please help out . Is it waste or worth ?
Yeah, that's exactly what I've been thinking about. The deeper I get into it, the more disappointed I get. 4k 60fps, 10 bit, internal stabilization and so on. But now I'm enjoying it, because the best camera is your own camera. Think less about it and just shoot

Lacy, thanks for the kind words and props on the first camera. Regarding vertical, I like 4k 24 or 30 fps for that format.
Great video man! What tripod and that orange plate do you use?
Thanks and it's a Three Legged Thing tripod: amzn.to/3NCqHZj
Anyone. Imagine this camera 10
years ago.. it’s all about perspective. Great video and channel. Subbed.
The main reason I opted for the kit lens is that this is the least expensive lens I could find that includes power zoom. With power zoom and my remote controlled tripod head I now can remotely pan and zoom with the Imaging Edge app
Great call, Charlie
I'm wanting to get this camera to record birds and scenery from a tripod. Do you think it would be good for that? I'm concerned whether the audio would be good for that... what do you think? If I'm wanting to record birds, for example, from about 3 meters would the audio be good for that or what kind of mic would work well with this camera to do that? Absolute newbie here, so I really appreciate your opinion and I know I would be reviewing this video a lot to help me out. Thank you!

Guilty.
hi, will this be a good option for a table top or top down camera for unboxing like videos?
Sir is it good to shoot football drills and skills for insta, youtube??
Hey. If I’m in usb mode using this to record video podcasts, can I save the video to an ssd card on the camera while recording on the computer so I have a backup on the cameras card in case the software recording crashes?
Hi Sean on the video in Rear CUSTOM KEY no.5 DRO/Auto HDR what does it mean tks
Cool
Thanks 🤙
I’m sorry but what PP you use for photography that you use for exposure +15 on the chart? I watched your video on exposure and loved your technique, is it off and standard for photography or is there any specific settings like on the video you explained for also and fx3?
Hey, thanks for the note. Have you watched my 2-part exposure guide?
seandewispelaere.com/exposure-guide-6111
What's the orange mount on the bottom?
How do you move the focus point from one photo to the next? Do you always have to go into the Fn button to select it from your presets to get it to move around? Coming from my Canon, these Sony menus are nuts. Got the Sony to use as my carry around camera instead of my heavy DSLR
Hey Brittany, set one of your custom buttons to "focus standard" and that should do the trick ;)
The center button in the wheel makes sense to map that to
Enjoy the new camera
I needed this the most and have a question for you please. I’ve heard this is a studio camera- is it true? My goal is to shoot outdoors for travel purpose. Can this be a good choice?
What's up, Rohit, it is very capable, but it is not weather sealed so that needs to be taken into consideration.
Seriously man, thanks, I subbed the channel too.
@@seandewispelaere thank you for your comment!
Hey, i hope you are good
When i take video on this camera it just zooms in like really close i mean the frame becomes too small. I am using the lens that came with the camera can you please help resolve this mattet
A few things to check:
- are you in “active” stabilization?
- are you in 4K at 60p?
^ the above two things will crop in on the sensor
Also, are you fully zoomed out (towards the “w”) on the lens?
Can I use memory recall for photo mode settings? or does it only recall settings for video mode?
Hey Jeff, it works great for photo and video 🤙
Is this a re-upload? I feel like I've seen this before. Great tips by the way
What’s up, Nia - I pulled all of the recent ZV E10 videos together for this one. I’ve learned that some people want the short tips and other people want it all in one long-form video.
@@seandewispelaere appreciate the effort bro!

For stabilization, is it better to set at 120p and put the video in catalyst browse in post or set it to 60p and use stabilization? I'd think the flexibility if 120p would be worth it, yeah?
I’d go with 60p simply for less steps, but I see your point
what would you choose zve10 or a6400?
for both photo and video
Tough call. I'm partial to the Zv-E10 but I don't think you can go wrong there
What camera do you recommend for entry level photography?
Hey Ashley, I actually think that the Sony ZV-E10 is perfect for that
Thanks for the info man. The link to your ZV-E10 checklist is broken. Any chance you can DM them to me?
Hey William, I had to add some manual links for the time being. I saw your info come through and will email them to you shortly. All the best!
Anyone else who doesn't have the custom key options as you show in here or it's just me??
Are you in “manual” mode?
After losing all the money I’d saved for years to get a big Canon, I started a crowdfunding campaign to get this camera. It’s going really slow but I’m watching everything I can on it for when the day finally comes.
I’m sorry to hear that and hope you get some traction on the crowdfunding
You have the jaw of a military officer

Just a stupid newbie question: What do I have to do when the picture profile is not available in the menu?
Hello sir.
Am in very big delima for buying lenses. I have zve10 and 16 50 kit lens. Sigma 30mm. I want to buy Tamron 17 70 but what if I upgrade to full frame in future. Still is it worth buying Tamron 17 -70 ?
If you want to upgrade to full frame, I'd hold off on buying that lens unless you want to try to resell it once you upgrade
@@seandewispelaere i purchased already cause I didn't get any option. So I will learn shooting from this then I will sell this while buying full frame. Thanks for the reply 👍
Good to know though . It’s not cheap though , but I’d say - it’s “less expensive “than other top notch Sony cameras .
Picture profile doesn’t show up as an option, is there something I can do?
Hey Deysi, I’m assuming you’re in auto mode? Might need to put it in manual?
Thanks for the video! QQ: Do you think this camera will perform well in low light situation with sigma 18-50 2.8 and DJI RS3 mini?
For the exposure, check out this video: I think it will help a lot: ruclips.net/video/95EYVe2Hego/видео.html
Best of luck, you've got this
@@seandewispelaere thank you for the advice mate, I will give it another go hopefully stick with it 😃
Did someone also thought that they wasted their money on this camera in starting, and what's your review on this camera after sometime?
I am a newbie with this camera, please help out .
Is it waste or worth ?
Yeah, that's exactly what I've been thinking about. The deeper I get into it, the more disappointed I get. 4k 60fps, 10 bit, internal stabilization and so on. But now I'm enjoying it, because the best camera is your own camera. Think less about it and just shoot
OMFG
SONY ZV 1F NEXT PLEASE
I'll add it to the list - hopefully there is some transferable info in this video that helps you as well. All the best!
@@seandewispelaere OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!! It's be much an honor, I'll buy my Sony ZV 1F tomorrow and no one in youtube did a great complete guide, but I saw your videos, it's just beyond other zv 1f reviews.. I need your complete guide!! Well, thank you for these tutorial it did really help me understand how camera works. I watched the whole video!!
@@rionvalet awesome and enjoy the camera. The whole video?! ?Love it - that's a commitment. A lot of the settings in this video should help you get up and running.
I wouldn't recommend using USB streaming. It introduces a noticeable lag. Paradoxically, an HDMI capture card does a much better job.
Damn this guys jaw line ! lol
Real life camera geekga chad
If your studio video looks bad with the standard video profile... you probably just need to light better.
No one talks about camera linked to the computer !!!! my ZV-1 was terrible when linked as audio was so bad I got over this by removing the SD card + going from there then using power director to open footage or you can use Sony site as you want but doing it this way you can use normal edit software.
Amazing vidéo but please... translate your video with french sub. I understand all but sometimes i'll be easier to have the traduction 😅
