- I do my best to keep reviews under 10 minutes but i did talk a little about my experience with the house as a whole at the end of the video.
As always, comments are loved, likes are appreciated, and subscribers are my friends.
French Lover is one of my favourite FM fragrances. This and also Geranium pour monsieur are in my whishlist.
It was actually fun tracking the sunrise behind you Pep. 😄 Culminating in the unexpected ascension in the end. 🌅 Good morning!
As always amazing review Pep. I have and love this one plus Une Rose, Portrait of a lady, Carnal Flower and Monsieur. Best wishes from Mexico.
Great video and I enjoyed it and I'm going to try these fragrances and try out the rest of the house and have a blessed day
French lover never did much for me on a card but as my love for Pierre Bourdon fragrances grew, I decided to buy this and spend time with it. It’s extremely complicated & complex, and it behaves very differently in different temperatures & weather. (For example- warm, rainy/humid weather brings out the Vetiver).
It’s a shapeshifter. It took months of wearing it to really understand it and identity some of the notes, especially the more nuanced ones like Iris, frankincense, cinnamon, etc. What it smelled like in the first month is completely different than what it smells like to me now.
Over time, this has become a top 5 fragrance for me, possibly even top 3.
I’d be very interested to hear your thoughts on it after you’ve worn it for 5-6 months in various weather and scenarios.
For a fun exercise, smell it next to Royal Oud & Spice & Wood (both Pierre Bourdon creations). There’s prominent notes & structure from both of these in French Lover and it will help you dissect it & understand it.
Once you’ve spent a lot of time with it, you’ll also be able to pick up a couple notes from Viking too (which he also created) :)
Cheers!
Always enjoy listening to your descriptions. My one and only Malle is Iris Poudre, also by Pierre Bourdon. I get what you are saying in regards to the brand as a whole, many I have tried but only one I have actually purchased a bottle of. I had a 10ml of Carnal Flower, however my big tuberose love is Nuit de Bakelite, economical too as usually one spray, occassionally two is all that I need💚
Oh, i hear ya on NdB Gail.
Thank you, Pep, beautiful review, as always❤️
Just wanna mention incredebly suitable preview picture. Pure style.
my favorite fragrance of all time. my eyes roll back when i smell it, divine stuff.
Your reviews are always such a pleasure Pep. Very interested in this one--likely a blind buy.
One of my favorites, not an overly " perfumed " smell and reminds me more of a clean body after a shower without applying the typical aromatic fragrance if that make sense? Sort of a more natural masculine body smell although you do have an aroma that is very pleasant to whom you are around . I always get a compliment when i wear it at work. Clean , crisp and masculine in a natural way. That was a comment I received from an attractive mature woman I work with. When she asked what was the name of the fragrance, embarrassed slightly I mumbled out French Lover. She replied , Ah but of course.
I loooove it. It’s one of my favorites from FM.
French Lover basically smells like 'Turmeric Water' .. If you're from India, you'll immediately realize that. And I agree with you on Guerlain. IMO, they're the definition of niche. And they're affordable too. As opposed to these brands that charge you a kidney for a bottle.
Never tried this Frederic malle just screams class and elegance I love leau d hiver my favorite definitely worth a try.
I agree with your assessment of the two names - Bois d'Orage being the more appropriate - as to me this scent is a very intelligent interpretation of dense North American forest after a very heavy rain or storm. It evokes the imagery of peeling away and sniffing the wet bark from perhaps a broken or maybe even decaying tree, and the green aroma of forest mosses and vegetation invading your senses. I also do not pick up much vetiver or incense, if anything just a whisper of each in the base.
God bless you, Pep!
🙏🙏
Similar ‘air’ about it to Royal Oud from Creed - I suspect is from the Angelica accord/note. I totally get the dry pine-y shower gel vibe too. Great review, Pep 👌
Great video Pep! I feel very similar way to this perfume.
I like the wae you talk about this fragrance, beautiful
I never understood the naming concept for this one either, but it is one of my favorites.
Yeah, I get it!
I agree with you on your final points with this house.
Great review and imagery!
A work of art!
French lover is a nice scent, I can see that smelling nice on you Pep. I like it. Not one I would buy for myself but I do enjoy it.
Thanks Petra
This one took awhile for me to enjoy it.Nice video
Frederic Malle doesn't do anything for me. But there are so many others that you wear that I just love.
Do you think this would be a good alternative to ADG Profumo
I think they are pretty different profiles, and I didn't love AdG profumo as much
There’s something in it that reminds me of Timbuktu. But I like French Lover better
Great review! Have you ever tried Ambra Calabria (Nishane) and Ichnusa (Profumum Roma) and Basilico&Fellini (vilhelm)? I'm curious to know what do you think of these fragrances. Cheers from Italy
I have not tried any of those, but hopefully i can soon.
Top review like always, my friend. How do you like this versus the Royal Oud from Creed? They have the same influence: Pierre Bourdon and then his apprentice, the talented Julien Rasquinet.
I think i slightly prefer French Lover
@@TheScentinel thank you, I like Royal Oud but somehow is louder than FM.
I get a thicc Galbanum from this. Very reminiscent of Royal Oud by Creed... same perfumer, after all
I only wore Royal Oud two days ago and didn't make any connection🤷♂️ noses, right?
@@TheScentinel try them next to each other, see what you think?
Bourdon has been making fragrances for creed for the best part of 40 years
nope. this smells like spice and wood. also, FL was made by JCE, Royal Oud by julien rasquinet
I love angelica!
Great video:)
Thanks Ryan
Some perfumes have good timing : )
Badedas? The shower gel?
Love french lover. X
Maybe Norsca🙈😮😅
What is your favorite perfume house?
Probably Guerlain
What fragrance is similar to Frederic Malle French Lover?
The only thing that has some similarities that i have smelled is Royal Oud by Creed
@@TheScentinel Thank you friend🤗
Is it worth a blind buy?
Nope, nothing at these prices should be a blind buy
I don’t find FL beautiful for me. It doesn’t smells good at all. POTL, Rose Tonnerre, Geranium and Musc Ravageur is king.
