This is a spectacular gathering of rare talent. First, the choir, made up of experienced, dedicated, passionate and talented singers, is phenomenal and produces beautiful and transcendent harmonies. Second, the choir conductor, in the center with gray hair, is the acclaimed Christo Burger, who has participated in master classes at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, USA, and also at the Royal College of Music in London, UK. "Is there anything better than a male chorus"? This one is not nearly as big as Rieu's male chorus but I still get goose bumps. I sang bass in my University choir and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Hi Mike and Ginger. For 15 years now I've been writing in some depth on the endemically political-social-economic, polarized MESS our nation has gotten itself into the last 40 years. Amira's extraordinary, angelic, warm voice strengthens my peace-of-mind, hope, humanness - much needed in these rather stressful, changing times. Welcome back!
she is really super talented and while everybody is talking about angelina jordan she is going for opera and staying an underdog. and i find her performances including the ones from the talent shows much more appealing.
They're in such different genres that you really cannot compare - except by personal preference. Amira sounds like an opera singer while Angelina sounds like Angelina. So on the surface, Angelina sounds more unique. But that's because of genre and not because one is better than the other. Opera is technically more difficult, but that doesn't make an opera singer an inherently better singer. There's plenty of room for different music :-)
@@tomten8663 Then you're missing my point. If you sing any kind of opera or classical music, you've got limited freedom, because there you're *supposed* to sing a certain way. So when Amira sings opera, she's *supposed* to sound like an opera singer. Of course she has her own voice and personality, and when singing something more contemporary, she has more freedom to utilize that. I can easily identify e.g. Pavarotti singing, but he always sounds like an opera singer - as he should. Purely due to freedom in genre(s), Angelina shows more direct personality and style. I'm not dissing Amira at all, just pointing out this distinction, as a possibly explanation for the observation by the first comment.
Hi guys. I’m sure I mentioned ‘’ When You Wish Upon a Star ‘’. Most beautiful rendition I’ve ever heard & her passion & tone is exceptional., & it’s not a Christmas song.
When I first heard La Vigine... sung by Mirusia, it seemed rather ugly to me - then Amira sang it and it's as if a light went on and the powerful melody and male voices created a wonderful experience. I went on to listen to the famous sopranos singing this, Maria Callas et al, and nobody touched my heart and mind as Amira's version does. Thank you for a great reaction.
@@jano9091 I did, I played the two versions side by side, phrase by phrase. And once again the miracle happens - Amira's voice sounds more beautiful to me, her high notes are sweeter and more grounded and her low notes purer without the guttural sound that marks the older soprano's voice. Thank you for enabling me to make a comparison between two voices and discovering that Amira's singing technique and tone please me more.
