I have the V2 and I absolutely love it, highly recommend the series! I bought it as my first and so far only amp. I was going to buy a Squier beginner pack, but the salesman convinced me to go for this instead. At first, I wondered if I had been hustled, but over time I have realized all the features this thing has and how great it sounds. For recording, it has been a great audio interface, as you can choose whether you want stereo/mono, dry/wet. No regrets.
I’ve had a ball with the v3 , thought I had got cheated when I got it home, but after I figured out the controls, and combo,s, I really liked it. Especially the reverb , I just wanted a decent delay and chorus , but this thing has a lot more. I recommend it. Thanks guys.
Great licks, Captain! I also very much like the fact you're playing Squiers and East Coast guitars here, giving a good notion of what these sound like through comparably priced guitars. Great vid!
For budget gear these sound great recorded and have all the effects and amp sounds for beginners to record with. Tech is moving forward quickly and Blackstar seem to be right up there .
I got the amp yesterday and it‘s absolute fantastic. The sound is amazing and the architect software is very easy to use. I’ d like to thank you, you inspired me to buy the amp . The beginning of your video was very cool jam, may I asked you what kind of chords does Pete play. Keep on rockin‘ 🎸
I own a ID20 V2. I couldn’t agree more with Lee and Pete about it being heavy on the bass. Especially if you have Reverb/Delay on. I would rather have tone knobs on the unit than the ISF witch I don’t find very useful, more of a marketing knob really. This means you have to connect the laptop to tone the bass down with architect everytime you turn the amp on (as it reverts to default everytime). Sometimes with headphones the low E is just unbearable if you are listening with headphones. Architect software is miles better than the previous Insider.
Excellent job capturing the stereo effects! Even on cheap PC speakers at work, the reverb was reverbing all around and behind me. Love these little amps. So glad to see the software improved.
As much as I like the shred of Chappers and Rabea and the style of Danish Pete, the Capten just comes in and pulls the carpet out from under every one with the slickest jazz and blues and rock licks that make your face just melt off with the most diabolically infused peanutbutter licks. I've always been a fan of smooth peanutbutter. Keep 'me coming Lee!!!!!
This product is so useful. Blackstar are really doing good work. The architect software was needed. The prior Insider was not too good. Just ordered one.
Mine is on its way!!! Great video guys and Captain sounds great, but I bought it from PMT. Bit too late! Not to say Andertons are not worthy, I wouldn't watch this video otherwise. PMT have stores in Manchester and Cardiff ( the 2 stores I always go to). Only if Andertons had a store up North!! I would forget PMT
I like my ID Sore stereo 40 (V1) that i got used a few years ago from my local Music-Go-Round for under $100 USD. sounds great for it's yimy size and is very versatile with all the in built effects.
I have the 40 V3, and upgraded from the V2. The noise gate is better on this one, as it is able to be tweaked. , Plus on the V3 there is presence and resonance available on the software. I also have the 100, and love them both. In the end, we all have that sound in our heads we are looking for. These amps shine when tweaked with the software.
I think that when it comes to the do all modeling amps with built in effects Blackstar is the only one that is giving the Katana a good run for its position as top dog. I think when it comes to valve replication through digital tech Blackstar is a top contender with its silverline series. Where it accels over the Boss or Roland Blues cube is that they have individual valve voicing that are selectable like 6v6, El84, KT66 and so on. The silverline does not have all the effects that the Katana or ID Core v3 does or an app that lets you fine tune your parameters but it does let you dial in some really good valve voicings from numerous brand ranges. I think the spark is in a weird category all its own simply because it has tech that none of these other amps have such as the program that takes a song from your favorite artist and breaks down the chords involved so you can play along. I can see Boss developing similar tech in the very near future. I have not played these little Blackstars for myself yet but on this video they truly sound the business. I do not need a live performance rig but I could definitely enjoy that for personal studio and solo sidewalk gigging. Thanks for sharing.
I have a Boss Nextone Stage 40w and it has been my #1 for almost 3yrs and it switches between 6V6, 6L6, EL84, EL34 types.. before the blackstar silver line amps were released. That being said, I love my Boss.. but really wanna try a blackstar silver line amp as they sound frickin' killer! Lol
Great video and wonderful playing ....... as usual Would be interesting to compare this with what are currently considered the best practice / modelling amps, namely: Yamaha THRII, Boss Katana and Positive Grid Spark
Just a comment on that mini-B USB port being retained on the V3s. Although I can see why some who always want the latest IT tech who coincidentally find a need to upgrade their smartphone to the latest every three months might desire the latest iteration of USB C 3.n connector, I think Blackstar have stuck with Mini-B USB for a number of reasons, not the least being standardisation across their amplifier range. 1. For the purpose for which its USB connectivity is used here, there is no need for faster transfer rates than Mini-B USB 2.0 offers. 2. Cable length & data transfer stability. New protocols offering higher transfer rates typically with USB-C connectors have more critical cable length and quality limitations before packet loss or reduced data rate will start to occur. For a phone or other device you can sit on the desk immediately beside your PC, this isn't an issue. For an amp which really needs to be a couple of metres or more away pragmatically speaking just due to its physical size, it is -ID:Core 10 perhaps excepted. USB 2.0 mini-B USB is good for nearly 5M. 3. Legacy compatibility with their older version ID:Cores for owners upgrading, and with their other series amps. i.e. ID Series 260TVP and current Silverline Series which superseded it. Their larger amps like this come supplied with a Mini-B USB cable in the box, but with the meat in their less critical margins to easily accommodate that. 4. And lastly, the most salient. It's no biggie. In 2022 you can still conveniently source a far better braided and quality Mini-B USB 2.0 cable online for around AUD$10/GBP£5 from Amazon than will be supplied with any device which will be delivered as quickly as Amazon does in your country. Importantly you can choose a longer length purposeful for use with an amp sitting on the floor or a foldback stand in connecting it to a PC. Obviously the choice not to include a cable with an entry level amp or purposed practice amp remembering that not everyone will make use of its connectivity feature is a commercial one in an effort to maintain aggressive price point in a super competitive niche.
The muddy low sound is almost exactly like the Daking Mic Pre if you don’t have a high pass filter on, makes me wonder what they were using to emulate the sounds. 🤔
I have the Beam, and it is perfect. Listened to a bunch of different brands and alot of your videos to choose a practice amp. They don't answer emails, only downside. I bought mine used, it's still on 1.1.1 firmware, and hesitant to upgrade the firmware. If I mess it up I would be on my own to figure how to fix it.
I have a 20W ID core V2..very nice amp but it developed quite a background hiss that was very noticeable even on clean amp settings. Wondering if the new V3 have that same issue?
I've got one of the v2, that effects switch just pissed me off, probably because I never read instructions but mainly cause multi function knobs are annoying as hell.
Genuine question. I want to buy the id core 40w version. How does it play in low volume and can I play mp3 tracks through aux. I couldnt find a thr10 in my country, so looking for an alternative.

LMAO. .plugging my "Stellarcaster" into the amp and the rest of the system will sound amazing.. eat your heart out 'Marshall" the 2 tower 4 X 12 towers are in effect a full stack when side by side.. with the Blackstar on top as a head ..when the external speakers are plugged in the internal speakers are off. effectively making the little amp into a head.. and therefore a "Full Stack" all together. .and if I run it through the surround system then the towers along with the rest of the surround speakers, just imagine what that might sound like.

Affordable guitars into affordable amps. How these gear demos of this sort should be.
Fabulous playing Lee.
Pete is awesome. He always comes off genuine and seems to not have the gear snobbery you may expect (or do get from Lee and Rob at times).

Incredible playing, Lee! Tasty, eloquent and completely to the point
I have one of the previous ID Core amps as a practice amp, and it's great. The new ones look even better. Awesome playing, Lee!!!
Its amazing how they're using cheap guitars to demonstrate this
Just shows you can get a good tone out of any price equipment. 🤘

Can you guys do a video comparing the ID: Core 40 to the Boss Katana 50?
did you get the answer? which one is good?
I wanna know too
This amp is good but go for katana with no doubt. Katana is more expensive but it deserves it
