Now watching A.Mi.Go MV all I can think about is Minho complaining about having to run through the crowd in broad daylight as they all looked at him like he was crazy while the rest slept in the van in A/C. Good times.

I'm glad you are learning about Jonghyun because he was early on the Main Vocalist with Onew. That is why w/o him now the other 4 members have really just all strengthened vocally to bring Jonghyun's essence within their current music. SHINee will always be 5 members. They always incorporate Jonghyun in all that they do. He is their inspiration ie. "The Feeling". If you follow their journey including their live stages you'll witness how each member started to stand out on their own and have their own individual colors. JOnghyun is my bias in this group, it is because he is the most amazing artist...a legend in the Kpop world for sure.

SHINee is a group of vocals for sure, but Jonghyun is SHINee’s main MAIN Vocals. He is also SHINee’s Center in all ways. Stands in the center in interviews, center in many formations and choreo and the like. And he still is. 🥰

With the choreo, because of Jonghyun's height is more short than others (oops, but is true 😂🙏). Fun fact: Jonghyun is one of the best singer in kpop! So I think he's in the middle too when he sing the climax part in SHINee's song.
Basically the center for choreo is Taemin.
Can't wait to see next long journey SHINee's reaction!! ❤❤

Jonghyun’s voice was one of a kind for sure. It is still my favorite voice in Kpop. He was able to put so much emotion into each word he sung, that you could really feel it even if you couldn’t understand the language. His falsettos were just beautiful and he could belt like no one else. I miss hearing his voice. Thanks for this deep dive into SHINee. I can’t wait to see more reactions!

I loooove when people go to SHINee's early discography, discover and be blown away by the one in a million Kim Jonghyun 😎. As his new fan i can guarantee you will never escape his charm. And i really appreciate u guys with ur reaction, many reactors out there just act on pity towards him, or don't care at all. Also you're right about him styling his vocal, you will never hear the same in 2 different songs that he sings, he's so expressive thru his voice and he'll adjust his voice to which way he thinks will fit in the song and ofc it works incredibly perfect. Sorry i rant a lot, once talking about Jjong i'll never stop 😂. Anw tysm your reaction made my day 🤗 looking forward to the next video

Watching your reaction to the three earlier Shinee releases make me emotional. Especially so when you appreciate Jonghyun. He's my ult bias since their debut, and he still is and will always be. I've not found any other singer that can touch my feels so deep the way he did. Wait till you hear his solo songs like Heya (Ysi Fuera Ella), Diphylleia Grayi, End of the Day, Deja Boo, Crazy (Guilty Pleasure), Hellelujah, Mono-Drama and so much more. I don't have to understand the lyrics. His emotive delivery is enough to hit the feels. Anyway, the reason why he has the MJ flair is coz MJ is one of his biggest inspiration. Before Taemin got the Korean MJ tag, fans gave that nickname to Jonghyun. He sings like the King of Pop, while Taemin dance to the King's likeness. It is funny when you both try to imitate Jonghyun's first few lines from Love Like Oxygen, coz the members did make fun of him for that. It reminded me of Onew imitating him on a variety show. It's so hilarious! I look forward to your Shinee journey.

SHINee's "Replay" is literally considered one of the best debut songs of all time for any Kpop artist because it's so timeless and it never goes out of style or sounds outdated no matter how old it gets. And this is why SHINee are Icons. (It's not that shocking because SHINee's songs age like fine wine, and they only get better the more you listen to them.)
You're lucky you are watching this MV after SM remastered it, because now it has English subtitles. If you haven't yet, you definitely need to read the lyrics, so that you can understand some of SHINee's iconic inside jokes and references.
"Replay" isn't just nostalgic, it's legendary. And SHINee are legends. Every new rookie group in the industry has covered "Replay" at least once in their career and it's one of those songs that is pretty much compulsory for everyone to know and learn, even still today.
Onew is the one in the hat, Jonghyun is the one with the headphones, Key is the one in green, Minho is the one playing basketball (he is always the tallest member) and Taemin is the one in yellow.
Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and a songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14. However, now SHINee are known for the fact that there are no longer any fixed roles in their group. The main vocalists can rap, the rappers can fill in as main vocalists and they're all impressive dancers. SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry.
The Noona (the older girl SHINee have a crush on that they are singing to) in the "Replay" MV is the leader of their sister group***, Victoria, from F(x). This MV came out more than a year before F(X) debuted, so this was Victoria even before debut. (Funny thing is, Victoria is native Chinese, and she says she was still learning Korean during this time and she could barely even say SHINee.) Victoria was so perfect in this role because she is a few years older than any of the SHINee members, so she fit well as the lead actress in this MV. As the song says, 'Noona neomu yeppeo .... replay, replay, replay ...." In other words they are saying "pretty older woman I really like you and I think you like me too ... every time I see you I need a replay of the moment over and over again in my head." Noona neomu yeppeo is a Korean term that essentially means "Pretty older woman" Noona neomu yeppeo is a term that is only used by guys to describe a beautiful woman that is older than them. There really isn't a literal translation of the term so that is why the song is called "Replay" in English. But in Korean it is called "Noona neomu yeppeo." That's why if you watch SHINee on a lot of variety shows and TV programs, the older women in the show often ask SHINee to sing this song to them, even still today. This song makes all the women swoon.
***SHINee and F(x) are both SM Entertainment groups, they debuted within a year of each other, they both are 5 member groups (Now 4 member groups ;( ) and they have similar music styles and concepts, etc. F(x) is pretty much the female version of SHINee.
As you can see by their "Replay" MV, even at 14, Taemin was one of the best dancers in Kpop, and you soon will discover with the more that you watch from SHINee and Taemin's solo work, that he has only gotten more magnificent over the years.
You should also check out SHINee's "Replay" dance practice, ruclips.net/video/gv60nR3_69U/видео.html. It's not an official dance practice video because dance practice videos didn't become a thing until 2010 when SHINee released the very first dance practice video for their song "Lucifer," but it is a real dance practice video from way back to SHINee's debut days. SHINee are the reason why Kpop groups produce dance practice/choreography videos today.
SHINee just recently talked about how they spent months as trainees practicing this choreography in order to get it down perfect. During Taemin's recent appearance on The Manager, you will see all 4 of the SHINee members in the dance studio practicing for their comeback, as well as their recent concert performance, and they talk about what it was like when they were trainees learning the dance.

Also, yes. Jonghyuns passing was a devastating emotional shock to everyone, and people also have to remember that logistically it was also hard for shinee to continue because he is their main vocal and has the most lines and ad libs in shinees songs. His voice is a main part of shinees sound pre-2018. Fortunately all shinee members can hold their own in all aspects. Key also mentioned this in an I live alone with taeyeon.

SHINee is the most famous and loved debut song of any group. This is why it's almost a requirement for newer groups to cover it. Also, this MV started a storyline that continued through 2021 with SHINee's song "Marry You". This is the first installment where they are attracted to a girl and compete to try to court her. "Lovesick", which debuted in 2015, continues the story reaffirming their love (btwn the girl and one of the guys who she chose) after being together for years and how happy her man is. It's like a love letter. "Marry You" is the guy actually proposing to his girl. Taemin joked and said the next installment was going to involve children. Taemin was only 14 when "Replay" debuted so he couldn't actually sing due to immature vocal cords.
As you now know, Jonghyun was THE vocal powerhouse of Kpop, and (still is IMHO) that was just the very small tip of the iceberg. He was their main vocal and his loss left a huge void within their brotherhood. When the guys decided to continue on and honor Jonghyun's dream of SHINee forever, they knew they would have to step it up to fill in at least some of that void, but it would never be completely healed. Jonghyun, along with Onew helped to teach Taemin how to sing. So even today, when Taemin sings in his falsetto during a ballad, you can hear whispers of Jonghyun's voice -- especially when he sang "Already" (a gift from Jonghyun) with Jonghyun's backing vocals. It was sometimes hard to distinguish between them. When and if you decide to react to some live stages (which are the best to react to for SHINee) you will see how insane Jonghyun can get with the adlibs, especially with "Sherlock": ruclips.net/video/M4pINahBoRY/видео.html ; "Stranger": ruclips.net/video/J-cQSFe4JA0/видео.html ; "Excuse Me Miss": ruclips.net/video/T0MAL3hVwoE/видео.html and "Ring, Ding, Dong" + "Lucifer": ruclips.net/video/mtFK7FxKdLs/видео.html ; of course then there's "Romeo & Juliet" where Jonghyun shows us why he was considered the King of Adlibs: ruclips.net/video/I3Jrvf-O6w4/видео.html
SHINee came out of the gate with phenomenal footwork. Taemin was already a master at it, but the others followed suit. SHINee is the group that uses their legs, feet, and arms the most with very intricate movements. Other groups use mostly the torso and hips to drive their choreos with very large arm movements. When you look at these very old MVs, you can instantly think, well that choreo isn't that difficult. However, it was back then. The footwork along with the extreme synchronicity was totally new for Kpop groups, that's why IU stated that whenever SHINee was having a dry-run rehearsal, she and the other groups would run to go see it because it was so unique and new, especially coupled with live singing. IU further stated that one of the reasons why SHINee was special was because of that. ("IU's Palette" with SHINee as guests)
BTW: SHINee also has the most beautiful harmonies in Kpop. You'll hear them when you get to "Lucifer". Many have said they could be an acapella group.
AMIGO: The title of the song is actually is an Korean acronym for A.MI.Go = "Your heart hurts when you fall in love with a beauty". Just three weeks ago SHINee were guests on MMTG and it was hilarious because in the first episode, Jaejae, the host, decided that AMIGO needed to be updated. During the second episode they went to a JYP studio and Jaejae provided them with new lyrics, and they recorded the song.....OMG, seriously it really was hilarious.

So excited to see you guys officially start your Shinee journey, especially starting from the very beginning. You really get to see their own musical journey this way, from the different styles and genres to the improvement in skills of each of the members. Believe it or not, they all go through a massive improvement, whether that be in vocals, dance, or even rap. We always like to say that Shinee doesn’t have distinct positions, because they’re a group made of 5 vocalists, 5 dancers, 5 rappers, and 5 visuals.

You ain't seen nothing yet as far as Jonghyun goes :-). (And the other members too; they're all crazy talented.) Jjong has an extraordinary range of what he can do with his voice and you've barely begun to scratch the surface. (His solo work is very different from his work with Shinee, btw, and it's extraordinary and very well-worth exploring.)
As others have said, Jonghyun deliberately chose an MJ-inspired delivery for Love Like Oxygen (Onew liked to tease him about it :-)), and you can go to his solo work "Moon" for gorgeous Prince vibes.
I found Jonghyun first, a year and a half ago, and Shinee through him, and the reason I'm a Shawol isn't because of Shinee's music and talent (as much as I love and respect that), it's because of the class and the character of the group, and because of how much they clearly loved and continue to love and honor Jonghyun.

Although "Amigo" sounds like the Spanish word for friend, in Korean A.Mi.Go was/is a well known acronym for the Korean phrase that means, something like: "You will suffer on your way to falling in love with a beauty." So, the story is about how the girl stole Minho's heart. She has unfrozen him with her touch and put color back into the world. However, as the song says, "Cold heart, baby ... Cold eyes, baby." They are saying they have fallen for her, but as "the ice princess," she is always unavailable and just out of arm's reach. But they can't help falling for her anyway. That is why Minho is chasing after her. If you notice, she is always one step ahead of him. He can never catch her no matter how hard he tires. That is why she is the "Ice princess." she is sexy and intoxicating, but she is always playing hard to get.
The MV is literally depicting every word of the song. As the English translation of the lyrics say: "Go, I run, ... Challenges are always fun, ... But the world isn’t as easy as it seems. ... I lose my mind when I see her, ... I'm unable to grasp her by this hand," etc. The story in the MV makes a lot more sense when you combine it with the lyrics.
On a side note: Minho is the visual of the group who is known for his natural model good looks. His nickname is Flaming Charisma and he is also known for being super athletic and competitive, so that is why he is the member who is chasing the girl. In real life Minho doesn't stop until he wins and he hates to lose. He is good at almost every sport so he very rarely loses. :D But even he is no match for the "ice princess."
Minho also has the deepest voice, so SM made him the group's main rapper, and Key is the lead rapper. (Key is also fluent in English, so you might notice that his rap style sounds a little more western.) But, because SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group, they were all trained in rapping.
"Amigo," which was the title track on their repackaged album, came out in 2008 and it was promoted alongside "Love Like Oxygen," as part of their first comeback after their debut.
Next to R&B, I think Rock is SHINee's next best genre of music and they often do rock style remixes of their songs at their concerts. You should check out their rock version of "Amigo" during their first SHINee World Concert world tour in 2011, ruclips.net/video/a_TgKPLmrJY/видео.html.

The Korean version of "Love Like Oxygen" was released as the lead promotional track on SHINee's first full length album The SHINee World in August 2008. Yep, it was their first release after their debut single "Replay" in May 2008. Fun fact: They also released a Japanese version of "Love Like Oxygen" in 2011 as part of the group's Japanese debut.
Taemin had just turned 15 years old right before this MV was released. SHINee's level of professionalism and maturity was there from the very beginning -- there were only 2 or 3 months between "Replay" and "Love like Oxygen." :D It's just SHINee's style, they are constantly switching up the feel and vibe with every song you hear from them.
As you may have noticed, you didn't hear Taemin sing very much in this song. In SHINee's early days Taemin didn't have a whole lot of lines in their songs and he was mostly just given big dance breaks during his parts of the song.
As you can probably tell, one of the things SHINee are known for is their harmonies, and they have one of the best 5 part harmonies in the industry. That is one of the reasons why they are known as a top vocal group and why they are so admired by their peers. Their harmonies are unmatched. And this was baby SHINee, just imagine how good their harmonization has become now that their voices have matured. Just wait until you hear them live, now that they fully understand how to present the full range of their vocal color. :D You will be blown away.
To sum up exactly what SHINee's style is: they are vocal powerhouses that create universally popular pop songs. :D When it comes to SHINee you can't expect anything except that it will be uniquely SHINee and probably one of the best songs and performances you will ever experience. Every song that SHINee has ever released is unlike any other and it won't sound or look like anything you have ever seen from them, including the songs on the same album. That's why they have such a big influence on the music industry, even from day one.
SHINee's whole concept since debut is they are supposed to be SM's experimental boy group, so they are constantly making and setting trends. And songs like "Love Like Oxygen" are a good example of that. You wanna know what trends SHINee has started? Let's make a list:
-- They are one of the first groups to start the trend of colored skinny jeans and form-fitting outfits that showed off their athletic psychics for male idols. Before SHINee, the trend was hip-hop style with baggy clothing that was 3 times too big. (SHINee started the boyfriend/student look.) Their fashion trends have been given the name "SHINee Trend."
-- They have been first to set records when it comes to winning awards -- first group to win more than 3 times in a row on music shows, Onew was the first to ever be given "the best leader" award at Melon Music awards (voted for by his peers who were in other groups), first to sweep all the top awards at every award show in a single season coining the phrase "Rookie Grand slam," etc.
-- They were one of the first groups to have sharp precise synchronized dance moves and to show the world that they could sing live while performing complex choreography and sound flawless. Because of SHINee, everyone upped their standard when it comes to live performances and choreography.
-- They were the very first group to release a dance practice video specifically so fans could see the full dance, and they were the first to have a dance practice video become a trending video online. They are the reason why dance practice videos are a thing today.
-- Jonghyun was one of the first IDOLS to be recognized as a singer/songwriter, and to produce songs for not only himself and his group, but for other artists as well. Jonghyun was highly respected within the industry for his songwriting and composing skills and he was considered one of the most prolific artists of his generation. About 40% of SHINee's songs were wrote by him, as well as all of his own solo songs and several songs for other artists, such as EXO, Taemin, IU, Lee HI, etc.
-- And SHINee pretty much starts almost every trend in the music industry when it comes to the sound and style of their music. And every song they release is designed to be something that has never been seen or heard before. Not only is it supposed to be something they have never done before, but they are expected to come up with a sound and style that has never been done before in the entire music industry. The industry looks to SHINee to set the trends and to show them the next direction to take. And that continues still today.
-- SHINee are also often the ones to start the next dance style or trend in the Kpop industry with their choreography.
-- They were one of the first groups to use a world-famous choreographer to create their dance for their "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" MV. "Sherlock" was the first time SM (or pretty much anyone in the Kpop industry) had ever used a famous choreographer, and at the time, it was the most expensive Kpop production ever.
-- Taemin was one of SM's first members from an active group to debut solo.
-- They are also the group that is most likely to appear on the first episode or on the pilot episode of a new variety show, and it is said, that it's good luck to have SHINee on the program first because that means it will be a success.
-- With SHINee's "Don't Call Me" comeback in 2021, Key started the "ending fairy" trend on music shows where idols come up with unique and/or funny poses at the end of their performances.
-- Minho's solo debut in 2022 made SHINee the first SM group to have all their members debut solo.

I never made the connection but omg you're totally right - LLO is very reminiscent of Mandy Moore's first single "Candy"! Although by LLO's release, MM's music had already moved far away from its bubblegum pop debut and she was also several years into a decent acting career.
LLO is actually a remake; the original version, written by a Danish team and with a different title, was sung by Martin/Saveus (who I believe was the first Danish X Factor winner). I've never listenened to his music but read that apparently his singing style is very similar to Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake, which could explain Jonghyun's MJ-esque singing in that song. Martin has since written several kpop singles for SM, Shinee's label.
Fun fact: Onew has hilariously poked fun at Jonghyun's singing in LLO later on in a game show and eventually Key Minho and Taemin joined in on the teasing too... during a LIVE CONCERT, much to the fans delight. 😂

Some of the early Shinee song used to be American pop songs and SM ent. bought the rights to remake the music. So you will find similarity

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. To my surprise i liked Replay. R&B vibes. It was sweet and had good harmonies. New Taemin biased. Love his dancing. I will check out ur other reactions to Shinee. Hopefully I will find more songs to love. =0} Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
SHINee fun facts : They were the first ones to start doing dance practice videos :)

SHINee was SM's experimental group. When they debuted they didn't even get any promos beforehand like what usually happens with new groups, just a few days before their television debut there was a news story about this new group with the song called Replay from SM and then they had their debut on Inkigayo (very unheard of) a few days later and then they grew from there. They are known as the Idol of Idol's and a lot of groups, even their seniors in the industry, look up to them and love them. And despite them debuting in 2008 they were all 15-18 years old at the time and they often teased other idol groups about that as they were often younger than them but had more seniority in the industry lol.

"Marry you" is the latest one of the 3-part sequel that SHINee is doing since debut... The sequence goes like
💙"Replay" (liking & confessing to an older girl - debut 2008)
💙"Love sick" (how their relationship is still going on - 2015, the dance choreo for love sick mirrors choreo of replay and at one time during the performance when the lyrics say 'how long has it been' they show 7 in their fingers indicating the years from 2008 to 2015, meaning they have been in love for the whole time & in relationship with the same girl)
💙"Marry you" (proposing to that girl - 2021)
This is the whole relationship arc, they joked that the next song in a few years might be either about their child or about a divorce 😆😆🤣
The lyrics also show the continuation here,
    💕Replay:
    "You are too pretty"
    💕Love sick:
"You were too pretty, do you know"
    💕Marry you:
"You are still too pretty, u take my breath away everytime I see you"
    💕Replay:
"You are everything to my life"
    💕Love sick:
"You are still everything to my life"
    💕Marry you:
    "Still everything to my life"

    Thanks for your reaction 😊
For SHINee, here a little warning so you know: "Replay", "Love", "Diamond sky" and "From now on" from their concert of the same title "From now on", are very emotional (first concert after). There are also others lives performances of their others concerts that are very moving but I think the most difficult one to watch for the first time remains "Y se fuera ella" by Jonghyun (There is a version with Eng Sub). And even if someone request it, "Our page" is a mv to watch later in your journey (song written by the members for Jonghyun, the lyrics are a must).
I prefer to warn in case, at least you can prepare a little mentally and bring some tissues 😕
Nice reaction(Love Like Oxygen), ty. Like this one too. Catchy. They slayed. Good vocals and harmonies. Some of the hair styles were cute. =0p
Nice reaction(Amigo), ty. This one is not bad. More modern to me. I like the others more.

OMG I'm so excited for your Shinee journey 😅❤ After like few MVs, reactors usually become Full time Shawols and rant about them nonstop ❤ Lots of surprises are waiting for you guys 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Reply means noona (older woman in Korean language) you're so pretty and I want to see you again and again (reply). At the time I was little bit older than them, their debut song strategically targated older woman 😂 It worked like a charm and I was whipped immediately 🤣😂 Going strong fan for 15 years ❤

They did harmonies and everything live for this one because they said the original backtrack doesn't sound like them anymore.
Edit: You don't have to do a video on it. I don't know how kpop copywrite stuff works on tv broadcasts these days.

SM buys a lot of songs from western song writers. Kesha, Bebe Rexha, Bruno Mars, Corbin Blu, Alejandro Sanz, 112 Cupid just to name a few off the top of my head.

At debut Onew was 18 years old. Jonghyun had just turned 18. Key and Minho were 16 and Taemin was 14 years old going on 15.
