Adapted from the story of the same title by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu from JJWXC
Xie Lian, the crown prince of Xian Le Kingdom, successfully ascends to Heaven during his third trial despite of successive demotions. However, he accidentally breaks the Gold Palace of heavenly officials. With no human worshiping him, Xie Lian has to descend to the secular world to exorcise ghosts, which may help him sustain his divinity. During his adventure, Xie Lian encounters two heavenly officials and a mysterious young man in red. Four as a team, they experience lots of weird and bizarre events and gradually get to know the dark past of the seemingly glamorous Heaven.

The marriage sedan scene will hit you so hard once you've finished the novel. The first time I've read it, I was so giddy and the butterflies in my stomach are just everything. But after I finished reading the novel, coming back to that moment makes me feel so nostalgic that a pang can literally be felt. It just hits different knowing that after 800 years of searching, Hua Cheng finally found the love of his life. 😭

this couple is... to much for my heart. their chemistry is so perfect that my heart hurts. they saw each other at their worst, they saw each other's imperfections, but they stayed. they believed. this is so much more powerful than the words "i love you".

@@黄琳娜-v2y ikr! i've been reading chinese bl novels these past few months and so far, they're still the best. they're so pure and their chemistry is really out of this world. maybe tgcf being not a "yaoi" is the best decision ever. that's why they are so pure because without even engaging to intercourse, or even with minimal kisses, they can be very intimate in a different way! there. i said it.
moreover, mxtx's novels don't need the words "i love you". their actions say it all. you can feel the emotions even just by the uke/seme staring at his significant other. ah, love. ❤

Xie Lian is my favorite character; his complexity, themes, and morals really speak to me. I love the romantic aspect of TGCF, but what really stands out with this story for me is the character development of Xie Lian. It is just so well written and moving that as a writer it just really inspires me.
I feel like MXTX is the master of character development :D and of complex relationships, just how many characters are there and everyone has a story and their own reasoning, its too amazing xD I love how even that bamboo hat has its story explained hahah

I can't bring myself to take that experience away from you, plus, it's impossible to describe it with just a simple comment because it's so profound, there's too much to talk about. By the end, you'll have understood the reason behind every little thing Xie Lian does and says, nothing in the story and about his person is just happenstance. Please, do yourself a favor and read the books, they're incredible.

1) Xie Lian fell and he caught him + held his hand, just like Xie Lian did with him.
2) Xie Lian looked up at him, just like Hua Cheng did.
3) Xie Lian gave him an umbrella so that he could be protected under the rain. Now Hua Cheng can use this umbrella to protect Xie Lian from the rain.
4) "Take me as the meaning of your life". And he did. He did it, and now he's strong enough to protect him and walk by his side, AND HE IS SO HAPPY ABOUT IT, JUST LOOK AT HIS SMILE NEAR THE END HE IS ECSTATIC, AFTER 800 YEARS HE FINALLY FOUND XIE LIAN AND WILL NEVER LEAVE HIM AGAIN

This novel portrays romantic and godly love very well. Even though people ridiculed him, Xie Lian didn’t have the heart to hate them, he saw evil spirits as spirits that were wronged and that wrong caused them to become unrest/resentful and he felt pity for them. When people viewed Hua Chengs butterflies with fear, he thought those butterflies were beautiful. There’s a lot of depth to the novel and usually many novels miss that.

You know it’s a great story when straight people love this show, gotta say I find this to be an unexpected gem for how smooth the relationships are and the personalities of the characters. I am generally invested in these two relationship and how it progresses. I never thought I would be so into a show if same gender relationships yet how they did it was just so well done and I look forward to season 2. This series is what got me to look into Mo Dao Zu Shi.
Me too. It really opened my eyes to Chinese anime as well as BL literature. It truly is a gem. I've already ordered the books and can't wait to read it once they arrive! The author also wrote other series as well, one of which (that I know of) has already been animated. It's called Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, which I'm watching now on RUclips if you haven't checked it out already.

I admit that scene where they're holding each other's hands while walking through a forest filled with bloody rain and gore did get a smile out of me, even if I wish the circumstances could have been better. I think this was what helped me decide that this series was a keeper.

Before, i think i'm dead inside, but when i try read the novel it makes me cried, my heart ache for xielian tragedy, make me sympathy to all character. Huacheng, qirong interaction with other character make me driving crazy haha.... Its written well. And so i excited about animation and arghhh op, ed, graphic its all well made. Urghhh my kokoro :')

Qirong, though an annoying cousing, once we get the depth of his character is actually very human and I guess that can be quite endearing? Hahahaha. He's annoying for sure, and wouldn't hesitate to throw Xie Lian under the bus at any chance that he could get but when we get little Gu Zi in the picture with him, he's actually quite redeemable in a way.
Edit: Also, he and his overdramatic antics. Hahahaha. Like, we all know that Xie Lian's cooking is lethal but no need to scream about it. Hahahaha. Even Pei Su just stuck it up and just fainted quietly. Hahahaha.

I wholeheartedly agree! The feeling they managed to create is just unreal. I absolutely never expected it could be this beautiful.
I remember coming to this show just because I had nothing else to watch. But after that scene I was so intrigued in what's going on I binge-watched the whole series, then ended up buying all the novels and finishing them in about a week. I never would have expected to find such a well crafted story, with amazingly well written characters and so much emotion behind it. Then when I came back to this scene again, because I just had to watch the show once more with the knowledge of what was going on and I couldn't believe how differently this scene hit me. Not to mention all the love and detail that went into how this scene was presented - from the animation, the music and so many more little details. It's baffling! Never in my life have I been so happy to run into something on a whim.
So I'm more than happy to say that Heaven Official's Blessing is now one of my favourite stories and at the very least may favourite romance.
My friend dragged me into MDZS so I drag her into TGCF ✨🤠
