Ah, that’s where you went wrong. You shopped for healthy food at a Walmart.
The produce should be right near one of the entrances, so he probably walked through the one farthest from it. If ya want healthy food though, ALDI or Kroger are good.
Honestly I feel like you can find healthy food in any grocery store, you just have to actually find it.
Walmart has plenty of healthy food
I don’t get it, can someone explain please?
I remember my first ever visit to Walmart when living in the US and expecting a normal Supermarket.
Only to get in to find everything was frozen and/or vacuum sealed. FL has its problems but thank Christ Publix is a thing as at least there was actual fresh food!

It is quite funny tbh although it does sometimes hurt to see the comments underneath those videos that mock americans for being so uncivilized.

No they are wrong. There is indeed synergy between sweet and salty but there is a clear line. I dont like watermelon and feta cheese but i can see why it has synergy and people do it. That said a strawberry shake with fries isn't what i'd call synergy
"It's like, when you eat in America, everything's rigged against you."
Knowing the way fast food companies are, how expensive healthy food is, how the FDA is, the whole issue with the "food pyramid" we were taught in schools, etc., there is a point to this. Eating healthy in America is challenging, and it gets more challenging if you a) don't know how to cook, and especially b) if you are poor. (Examples include living in a food desert, and relying on cheapness and convenience of fast food because having to work multiple jobs to afford basic life, you have much more limited time or energy to cook meals yourself.)
Yeah I get if ur poor then there is a lot of unhealthy meals at like $1.50 but if your middle class or above there is no reason you can't afford to not eat healthier. Plus eating isn't the only factor the amount of people that need to get up off they're butts and do something is astounding. Like I have never been fat so I don't know how hard it is to lose weight but before you gain this huge amounts of weight stop yourself. Work out, count calories, don't eat out every night, and don't stay on the couch all day. So yes it can be harder for some people a lot of obese people do not have any excuse other than laziness or habits picked up from parents.
Not to mention that many snack companies hire food scientists to make their food as addictive as possible.
What’s worse is how they take advantage of our brain’s reward mechanism. High calorie foods would have been super useful as hunter-gatherers and our brain rewarded us for finding it by releasing dopamine. But we now have an abundance of high calorie foods and our brain hasn’t modified that reward system to account for that abundance. So people are gorging themselves because it makes them feel good.
@@makarel If only it were actually that easy lol. Food addiction is literally an addiction, and like other addictions, recovery is a process for most people who suffer, rather than an instantaneous decision. For me personally, I started binge eating as an unhealthy coping mechanism for serious depression I've had since childhood, and the constant 'well why don't you just not do that anymore' just made me feel like I wasn't good enough to ever get better. I wasn't able to start fixing my eating habits until, with the help of a good counselor and some antidepressants, I was able to accept that it's going to be difficult, and that I will get better if I keep trying and practicing. Even then, I still relapse every now and then, but I can tell that it's becoming less frequent and less severe, so I know I'm on the right track. Your approach would work for some people, but it definitely doesn't work for everyone, and it can very easily just make things worse.
Healthy food is INSANELY cheap.
The time to prepare it is very costly, however.
@@makarel if you work 60+ hours a week to stay in the middle class, you don't have the time or energy to cook/eat healthy
only the super duper rich can afford healthy food in a convenient way
This is why they have boxes for afterward to take the rest home. The portions are always double (in my opinion)
"Hotdogs always taste the same"
Me when eating hotdogs: Hmmm, this hot dog is less flavorful than the other one.
Callout to the boys (I watch the podcast, I know you or someone on the team reads these), but as an American who has been fat and is still vascillating between obesity and just being overweight, everything said here about American cuisine, food portions and dining is correct... but also not.
The biggest truth spoken here is that the cards are stacked against you in America. You are correct, and most well educated people living here know it. Making people fat and keeping people fat is an industry, one that makes mad bank because America is becoming more and more of a cyberpunk anarchocapitalist dystopia each year. All sorts of additives including unnecessary fats, chemicals, and sugar/corn syrup (which is actually one of the biggest offenders that contributes to obesity, not fat or grease) are just jam-packed into everything, it’s way cheaper to eat processed garbage and junk food than it is to eat higher quality, nutritional food, and the culture here actively encourages eating out at restaurants that serve ridiculous portions as opposed to cooking your own meals at home that are much cheaper and healthier. All of that is true and I’d like to think we all know it. The easiest food to eat here is terrible for you and the culture surrounding it actively encourages you to do so.
BUT
The sad truth of it is there’s plenty of amazing food and restaurant experiences here in America that you can’t really get anywhere else. Other countries do individual styles or dishes better, but nobody does as many things in as many creative ways as the American gastronomy scene. Not only that, but a lot of the actual fine dining that you can get here is “reasonably” healthy. It’s still bad for you, but only in the way that eating large portions of super-rich food at home every day would be. If you dine responsibly, that is to say only eating out once or twice a week at higher quality restaurants, it’s perfectly possible to stay healthy and enjoy yourself without a ton of effort.
Unfortunately, I’m speaking as an upper-middle class person on the winning side of a lot of socioeconomic biases. The biggest kicker and the most important takeaway about American food is that it’s all part of this weird, fucked up economic caste system we’ve got going on. If you are poor or even just not of means, I can almost guarantee you that you do not eat healthy and probably don’t even have the option to, because grocers like Whole Foods that sell actual quality ingredients are obscenely expensive compared to the average supermarket (unless you take the time to learn how to shop) and many lower-income districts and neighborhoods (let’s not talk about the rural folks) are actual food deserts. No really, that’s what they’re called. *Food deserts.* Because there’s either no supermarkets or grocery stores within miles of these areas or the only place to buy food there is at crappy dollar store chains/Walmart.
The deck is stacked against you in America if you have poor impulse control. The deck is stacked against you in America if you’re poor. The deck is stacked against you in America if you have mental health problems that might cause you to stress-eat. And the deck is stacked against you if your parents didn’t raise you to cook at least half of your meals at home and make healthy food choices.
Please. As a fan, I understand it must be hard to wrap your heads around what goes on here in America. I live here and I never stop being shocked at the absurdity of the headlines that I see now and again. But the people on those 600lb Life videos are both victims and victimizers. They are victims of a system and a culture that helped shape them into someone who habitually victimizes their own bodies and self-image. I’ve put a lot of conscious effort into losing weight the past couple years and have managed to lose and keep off about 60lbs. And I can tell you that figuring out how to start and where to go is a rough journey.
tl;dr America’s economy prioritizes profits over people and the obesity epidemic/food culture generally is a symptom of that
I have never in my life ever seen an "isle" of nothing but hotdogs in Walmart, and if there is one I need to know because that is crazy.
Honestly like usually a see a little section with like 5 different brands of hot dogs maybe but a whole isle. Man

Remember the U.S is like several different types of cultures depending on which area you live in. North East Coast for example is waaaaay different than the deep south.
Every state is basically it's own country. Trying to generalize the US based on an experience in one state is basically the same as saying estonia is the perfect representation of all of europe.
So is Australia. Except they aren't limited by areas.
You can't convince them. They get views off talking shit about America
@@Riptionator The issue is that it's not exactly hard.
I mean not really. Compared to most european countries the us is pretty homogenous in its culture. Legit, it became so common to have access to spices, specifically salt & pepper, that it became a thing of the Rich™ to forgo spices in their food to further separate themselves from the common masses. It was and still is dumb.
World war 1 & 2 happened check old english cook books they used a large array of spices but when rationing was implemented for so long lots of the traditional cooking was lost as only a few spices were available. Rationing was still in effect 9 years after the end of WW2 in the UK.

As an American I am not going to say sorry for our food portion sizes you can take that up with the FDA on that. Plus you have to sign a waver to go into the Heart Attack Grill so you can't sue them if you get a heart attack because you did go in there of your own volition. Plus obesity rates in America as of 2021 is 32% I thought it was 25% but I just looked it up and that's why I'm leaving the country and I love Conner's rant on hotdogs because I didn't know that.
Even as an American, I hope that fucking murder-shack mistake disguised as a restaurant called the heart attack grill gets shut down. Okay, as an Indian, I need to partially debunk the stereotype of Indian Food = Toilet.
Authentic Indian Food, in my opinion, is food that Indian people make at home whether its in India or anywhere else. When making it at home, we never add the sheer amount of spices that Indian restaurants do. The restaurants have the kind of food that we Indians eat during parties or weddings. Regardless, I understand this notion of the toiler because actual homemade Indian food is hard to come by unless you live with or personally know Indian people.
There is no boundary between sweet and salty it's an illusion
1:31 Well that's where you misunderstand, fries with ice cream is the best food combination ever.
McD fries with mcflurry & sundae is pretty good

idk why i felt like sharing this but here goes.
As an American and avid salad eater, i kind of hate dressing. i don't use it. my recommendation and what i prefer: just lemon or lime with apple cider vinegar and salt, maybe olive oil. and when you add this stuff do not go ham. a little goes a long way.
The only good thing about white castle is the low carb scramble, nothing else. The shakes in steak in shake are half of your daily intake.
Come to New Orleans and you'll actually have some good food at Creole and Cajun restaurants
I feel like, in my opinion, that people truly underestimate the eating disorders that people could potentially have. Some people starve themselves or throw things up. Other people gorge themselves, wanting to die. America is sadly a culture that enables both behaviors/disorders because the products of them sells. The TV shows do nothing but enable that culture as well. I personally prefer things that show people actually trying to get better and take care of their bodies. to sound like an unhealthy person, there is a difference when you cook something in animal fat vs when you cook it in vegetable oil or peanut oil. McDonalds used to do lard, then peanut oil when lard was not ok with vegetarians, then vegetable/canola oil when people have a reaction to the peanut oil.
Few clarifications. A slider is not just a mini burger. The slider predates what you think of as a burger. A slider must only be a thin patty with onions - cheese optional. It can be big or small but small is all you'll really find nowadays. And the reason is because the shits. It's the steamed onions btw, if you get sliders without the onions it doesn't happen.

They do not all taste the same. To the offended americans as a fellow american I completely agree with them. As Americans we know to avoid food from Walmart and go to Whole Foods, Sprouts, Farmer's Markets for fresh food but it's not wrong to use Walmart and McDonalds as a benchmark since they are the most common food places. I’ve had hotdogs from an actual butcher, and hot damn. I didn’t realize hotdogs could that good.
They definitely taste different whether they're made from pork, beef, chicken or a combination. In the south I grew up with those bright red pork hotdogs made by Brightleaf and I live not too far from the plant that makes them. I liked them as a kid but when I got older I realized they suck and are most likely the lowest quality of intestines, feet, buttholes and organs. That's probably why they dye it blood red. Cheap hotdogs are sus. Get your hotdogs from a butcher. He'll show you what cuts he put in it or you can custom order it like you would sausage.
In Utah they have like 3 dairy doors for freakin cottage cheese blew my mind when I lived there
As a German i´m confused that people in english speaking countries use the word hot dog for just the sausage too. Like here we only use it for the whole thing with the bun and the other ingrediences. I mean the classic sausage for hot dog is the Wiener right thats what you call the hot dog but there are various kinds of sausages for hot dogs you can use too. When I was in denmark they had more than one sausage to choose from which ofc had different names.
In Wisconsin it's all real cheese it's mandatory
Real plastic cheese?
@@nahCmeR gotta go a little more north for that
Other people: wait it’s all cheese?
Wisconsin: Always has been
@@nahCmeR all cheese is “plastic”, it behaves the exact same as plastic does when exposed to heat. It’s unreasonable to say “boo plastic cheese” because...duh? A plastic is basically material that can be molded into a desired shape, and processed cheese does fit that definition.
(Btw apparently this was a Wisconsin joke thing I’m too Asian to understand)
Ahhhhhh yes a fellow cheese state citizen.
Tbf to our American comrades, dipping fries in the mcflurry or sundae, is a thing in Brazil too. And even in Portugal I had some friends who also liked it.
It weird bc while dipping fries in shake-in known thing in the US... I rarely if ever encounter people actually doing it here (I been living here for 10 years now). The only time I have seen it was a little kid at McDonald's years ago.
I think I tried dipping a fry into a shake only once, it wasn’t that bad, but probably wouldn’t do it again.
my sister does it here in portugal, chicken nuggets too. i dont like it though

DISGUSTING
One is sacrilegious and an insult to God and the other one is simply heresy
"You should never soak bread in anything"
*Takes toast, fucking destroys it with baked beans*
I'm not British, and it not only sounds disgusting but looks disgusting aswell... BUT to play devils advocate, toast doesn't soak and just stop thinking about how bad it sounds and just try to imagine the flavors going together, they seem complementary (I've never had it before, just had an epiphany and realized the flavors probably work REALLY well together).
Doesn't even toast my bread before dipping it in pot roast
The beans don't really soak the toast, and beans on toast with cheese on top is great.
it doesn’t get soaked, it’s a topping that’s nutritious and tastes good
I mean, if you're poor, it's probably better than either on their own.
In 2011 Heart Attack Grill's spokesperson died due to pneumonia. His almost 300 kg body didn't exactly help his chances. Thankfully, the previous spokesperson returned to his job after being away for an open heart surgery.
I fucking love the owner, he's such a hateable business man, toying with people's lives, but people just keep coming to his restaurants. He doesn't pretend that his food is healthy and neither does he lie about the multiple deaths associated with HAG. He is the kind of villain that only lets people kill themselves through their own gluttonous sins, making him practically a divine messenger.
Evil as his deeds may be, you've got to commend the guy for at least being honest.
But Fat Acceptance is pushed by media and companies.
Yet they get no flame....

Most people couldn't care less about the red flags lol
Kinda agree with the guy; if people are lining up to kill themselves by overstuffing their guts, why not make a business out of it?

Oil, corn syrup, and MSG... The three building blocks to all american fast food.
msg isn't bad...
MSG health wise isn't bad. It just makes food taste so good that corporations make greasy bad food taste decent and addicting. Same with MSG on chips. Remove it and it's literally just chewing on starch.
MSG is called umami in Japanese. Also invented by the Japanese and mostly used by Asians. Vegetable oil, sugar, and high fructose corn syrup on the hand are the basic building blocks of obesity. Also pretty sure fast food is more synthetic chemicals than natural food.
@@lentilsAre nope, I use it whenever I'm cooking. But it's still a staple in most fast food.
@@atypicalscholar109 Isnt that cause it gives flavoring but contributes nothing health wise in either direction?
As an American, I love hearing a foreign person talk about our food lol
Because its just that bad. No wonder that country has a high obesity rate.
